The Stockton Global Health Team Raises Funds for Mission Trips
We want to travel all over the world. We are looking into medical mission
trips for Summer 2017. A few places we are looking at are Peru, Costa Rica, and
Mexico. We want to continue to help clinics like that and further our borders, as
well as help to reach global health all over the world; very ambitious, said Rich-
man.
Stocktons Global Health Team will have more fundraisers, so keep an eye
out for events! On December 6 and 7, they will be hosting a gift wrapping drive
where members will wrap presents for donations. They are also planning on a
textbook drive at the end of the semester so students can donate their textbooks
which will go towards the organizations 2017 mission trip as well.
Anyone can join Stocktons Global Health Team! They do not restrict any
majors; simply get in touch. You can send an email to GlobalHealth@Stockton.
edu, find them on Facebook at Stockton Global Health Team, or attend a meeting
(held every other Monday at 5:30 pm in B126 on campus.)
Richman stated, We are really working on being recognized by the univer-
sity. We have been around for three semesters now, so we hope to get a budget

On Thursday, November 17, Stocktons Global Health Team partnered with (photos by Lisa Capasso)
LuLaRoe to host a fundraising event selling apparel on campus. The brand sells
affordable, stylish, and comfortable clothing. The Global Health Teams goal was
to raise a minimum net of $100 because any earnings over that amount, the cloth-
ing company would match.
Stocktons Global Health Teams Director of Fundraising is Nicole Rich-
man, a senior biology major with a concentration in Pre-Medicine. Richman
oversaw the LuLaRoe fundraiser, enticing her peers with the cute clothing and
promoting her organizations mission.
The Stockton Global Health Team is a nonprofit organization with a mission
to equip volunteers to help underprivileged communities both nationally and in-
ternationally. They also strive to improve global health quality and inspire others
to get involved. Students take annual medical mission trips to underdeveloped
countries where they work with local organizations to set up medical clinics.
This past summer, the universitys organization traveled to Guatemala and
helped to treat over 1,000 patients. They helped to set up clinics, assisted doctors,
handed out anti-parasite medication, and gave out toothbrushes and toothpaste.
They also taught the children sanitation, such as how to properly wash their hands
to reduce the risk of illnesses.
On a local level, the organization hosts seminars on global issues such as
hunger, global warming, and womens rights. All fundraising efforts go to low-
ering the cost of trips, as well as covering costs of educational programs for the
communities they visit.
