Comfort Rwanda has been working since 2004 with
The Living Church (L’Eglise Vivante) in Rwanda
delivering training for pastors and other Christian leaders
in the post-genocide situation. A wide range of leaders &
pastors from different church groups in Rwanda have
expressed interest in this training and availed themselves
of the opportunity.

In Partnership with ICC in Glasgow an accredited training
programme has now been established which over 2 years will
provide students with a Foundation Certificate in Christian
Studies, and a pathway to eventually achieve a Diploma in
Christian Studies.
The content of the course focuses on 3 areas:
• Biblical and Theological Foundations
• Christian Character, Lifestyle and Values
• Practical Ministry
This new accredited programme of study will seek;
a. to provide Rwanda Church leaders with a significantly
higher level of training
b. to equip leaders with sound doctrine and solid theological
foundations
c. to strengthen the personal integrity and discipleship of
Church leadership
d. to encourage accountability for learning through robust
examination processes & quality learning.
Over 2 years students will receive 240 direct hours of teaching
in 8 teaching weeks per year. This will be augmented with
supervised personal study to achieve the Foundation
Certificate in Christian Studies.
Personnel
Comfort Rwanda has a range of experienced Church
leaders & educationalists committed to delivering the
programme, including leaders from the Church of
Scotland, Network Churches, Congregational and
Independent Fellowships. Each of them has ICC approval
to teach and there is a commitment to develop Rwandan
participation in the lecturing as the course develops.

Study Programme
The first level of study is a programme leading to the award of
an ICC Foundation Certificate of Christian Studies. The intention
is to bring a proposal in 2011 for a further level leading to the
award of a Certificate of Christian Studies and, if continued
progress is made, a Diploma of Christian Studies in 2013.
The programme aims to provide students with a solid and
fully-accredited foundation for ministry in the Rwandan context,
by equipping them with a foundational biblical and theological
knowledge and understanding, shaping their personal lives
through character, lifestyle and discipleship studies, and
providing them with practical ministry skills and experience.
The foundation Certificate of Christian
Studies is taught in three courses:

• FC-B02 The Messianic Hope in the Old Testament
• FC-B03 The Story of Salvation – New Testament
Christian Character, Lifestyle and Values
• FC-C01 Personal Integrity and Integrity Towards Others

• FC-C03 Christian Leadership: Money, Sex and Power
Practical Ministry
• FC-P01 Evangelism
• FC-P02 Pastoral Care
• FC-P03 Preaching & Teaching
The Foundation Certificate of Christian Studies will be
taught over 2 years, with eight teaching weeks of six
days resulting in 240 direct class hours plus personal
study. It will be located in classrooms rented from
L’Eglise des Amis in the capital, Kigali.
