Teaching is an art itself and there isnt anything that anyone can say that can change that

fact. Thats what it is, a simple FACT. There is a certain gift that comes with teaching. Every
teacher has their own way of teaching a student as well as the way they exert their passion out to
the students. Ive seen teachers go from playing an instrument to teach a lesson or memorize a
times tables, to dressing up in costumes to get the childrens attention to hear what the teacher
had to say. All the ways of teaching including art, music, dance, or even just the tone of voice
and how it is projected are all very fascinating to see and hear and learn from to become a better
teacher. But one on the best ways that teaching has been hard to be looked at would be the way
technology is used in the schools. Yes, technology that has been growing ever since mankind has
roamed the Earth. From the first stroke of fire to the last touch on a phone screen, technology has
been evolving more rapidly than humans have. Technology has grown so much that a cell phone
is sometimes smarter than a human. Now with seeing technology grow, it has found its way into
the halls of schools and some teachers find favor in it while others like to stick to the books.
There have been ways that technology in schools as shaped a new ground of education. When
students were going to a screen and software to write a paper instead of a pen a paper Im pretty
sure it was something out of the ordinary. But over time as years have gone by it has become a
norm for the schools. There are websites to encourage students to read with fun games and there
are other websites that create somewhat as if there is a virtual reality home and reading the
passages helps gain points to customize the home. Technology in schools has been a fight for
many years whether or not it should be allowed with the expansion of social media rising making
it harder for teachers to gain the attention of the students. But teachers are able to use the
resources that are handy to create the perfect learning style for them to help the students engage
in the learning styles. A quote from the article Bridging a Gap: Technology and Us of
Technology in Schools by many authors such as Cher Ping Lim, states There could be
effective teachers in ineffective schools and ineffective teachers in effective schools, and
therefore the relationship between school and teacher effectiveness is becoming problematic.
This very quote is explaining how it isnt so much the technology placed in the hands of the
students that wont give them the ability to learn but the way how a teacher executes the final
result. An iPad can be a device used for games and social media, but a teacher that is able to use
the device to show students how to take notes or find apps that are resourceful to help with math
problems or to help them find articles is a teacher that knows how to use what they are given and
work with it. Like the quote stated that there are good teachers in bad schools and there are bad
teachers in good schools. What that showcases is that the individuals who believe that teachers
are unable to teach with technology such as computers or iPads is someone who is closed mined
and unwilling to experience a new outlook on education. In order to help children learn out of
these technology ways, it has to be the teachers willingness to guide them onto the path of
advancing and growing with the technology that surrounds them. Children are the first ones to
know the latest technology and how it is used, so why not use that as an advantage to get the kids
engaged in assignments. It is the ability to grow with the students and embrace the new
discoveries rather than keep the mind closed is what makes the difference in a teacher.

Schools have a vast way of integrating technology into the curriculums to help the
students performance on a technical level grow. I noticed that every grade has the same base of
what they want for their performance but every grade expands on the subject just a little more
each time. While looking through the standards I was very surprised that there was so much more
complexity throughout the standards than I had thought there would be.
With the Clark county level standards there are many content sections and so reviewing
through them the grade level standards are very different in regards to how every grade should be
executed. Reviewing the standards for grades 3 it was very engaging on how to exceed the rules
such as contributing to multiple ideas for a topic, and generating ideas to help lead a group in
research materials. That would be for grade 3 in the 3.0 standards. I noticed when looking over
the same section but for grade 5 it had said for multiple bullet points with minimal assistance
and then it would explain what the instruction would be. It seems interesting that a matter of 2
grade differences can mature the learning style for a student to engage and the instructions
specifically state to give minimal help really embodies how the county views the childrens
ability to gain in on technology usage. With grade 8 it envelops the maturaty level that is
portrayed for the students to have with the bullet points stating [They] can select an appropriate
organizational tool and accurately place collected information within the forma [and]
differentiate between the various types of information and make refined selections of most
reliable, authentic and timely sources. This alone really explains just how well students can grasp
the tools and information of the technology and what they can do to make a well executed
project.

Standards for Nevada state that the standards are considered the floor, not the ceiling for
students learning and performance which I think is very true. The section I overlooked to see
how the national base views it was the communication section letter B which states
Communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media
and formats. As I was reviewing the grades I noticed how Nevada takes a look at this national
standard and molds it to create their own standards based off these of the national ones. I like
how grade 2 states to use digital texts and illustrations and then grade 5 adds sound for the
standard and then grade 8 adds on videos and lastly grade 12 showcases all areas along with how
to use it to the advantage of actually communicating. The section alone had shown how much of
a difference an age group can make on how it needs to be properly executed in order for students
to fully grasp what they are doing to gain the learning of the entire lesson.

The ISTE standards are the ones that lay what should be done with each section laying a
base for STUDENTS to fully capture what is happening. My favorite section would have to be
section 4 which is innovative designer because it is the section that gives a base of how to use the
technology to create something that is whimsical yet a well produced project and outline that
shows the students know very well how to use the technology that is handed to them.
Wanted Poster
Grade level assignment: 5th grade

Standard concept: Creativity and innovation

Other Standards: A reading assignment

Objective: The objective is for you to pick your favorite book character (chapter, comic, or
picture) and make them seem as if they are the worst bandit in the realm in which they live in.
the character does not need to be a villain but the real trick is to make an innocent character seem
as if they have committed the worst crime ever committed. This will be needed to be made on
your word processor software as well as grabbing an image online that is the character of your
choosing. Make it so believable that I would want to take Cindy Lou Who to prison. I want to see
be able to read a well done wanted poster. And dont take the easy route by picking a villain. I
know its easier but make it a challenge to get a character that no one would think of committing
a crime. This is n individual assignment so dont try to copy another student to get out of it. I
want to see one wanted character for every student.

Instructions

1. To start off, start by picking the character you wish to create a wanted poster about. Once you
have a character in mind, start looking up images online to see which one would be the best for
you to use to distinguish the bandit as best as you can.

2. Go to Microsoft word and go to the insert tab on the top left hand corner and press the shapes
icon. The pull down will show many shapes, click on the rectangle that is located under the
simple shapes section. Once that is selected, press on the screen and hold down the mouse button
and press shift so that the shape with be even on each side so a box can be created which will be
the frame for your wanted character. Make the shape outline thicker by pressing shape outline
and scrolling down to where it says weight and pick the thickest one to make the frame really
stand out.

3. Now that you have the frame made its time to get your WANTED words up. Go back to the
insert tab and press word art and pick one that can be a recognizable font that can still capture the
concept of a wanted poster. Pick the best one and then write out wanted in all caps. Once that is
selected double tap on the words to bring up a new tools to pop up and press on the shape fill.
This is where you can customize how your poster will be. Play around with it and see how the
other shape fills such as picture, granite, and the others are and how you can change the colors to
make it your own.

4. Once that is done, youre on to putting your picture that you selected to use. Right click the
image and select copy. Go back to Microsoft and right click again and select paste. Once the
image pops up right click again and go to text wrapping and then go to in front of text and then
you will be able to move your picture to wherever you wanted and you can see how big or small
by grabbing the balls that are on each side of the picture.

5. now that you have your image made you will need to create the description which will consist
of what was the crime, a description of the character with detailed features such as height, weight
(if applicable), the way the character normally looks, and where they were last seen. Give a
description of where to bring them (and make sure it is somewhere that is in the story) and be
sure to put in a reward earning for the one who captures the bandit. Also, make sure that you
include a last seen and make sure that it is again, a location found in the story.

Happy hunting for your bandit!
