I. Introduction
A. Explain that I moved from the Philippines to the US when I was little
II. Facts about tinikling
A. Tinikling means bamboo dance in English
B. National dance in the Philippines
III. Origin
A. Tikling birds - imitating the birds jumping over grass stems, tree branches or bamboo traps over

rice fields that the farmers set up


B. Punishment - Spaniards would punish their workers by hitting their feet with bamboo sticks for

not working hard. Sometime the workers would jump over the sticks to avoid getting avoid.

A. Clappers
1. The people who clap the bamboo sticks
2. Beat: tap - tap - clap
B. Dancers
1. The people who dance or jumps over the bamboo sticks
2. Dance/jump: jump - jump - out
V. Conclusion
