RELIGION IN MUSIC
Thomson Gale, (Encyclopedia of Religion) 2005
Music back then made a really big impact on religious people, due to the fact that they would use
the music as if it was the sound of gods voice. They worship what the lyrics say and it somehow
makes them feel loved and cared for. It spread around really quick during the years and that was
rare past then for something like that to happen, entertainment wasnt that much appreciated and
the sound of music and melodies werent much recognized. Over the years these certain types of
text have been sung, not written because people felt that connection with the music itself,
believing that others would listen even more if it was in a song, the rhythm and the melody
would attract even more individuals to listen to what they have to say. And that for them was a
great success, as to how they would connect to their spiritual world and could feel this type of
connection throughout the music.
Marini, Stephen A. (Sacred Song in America: Religion, Music, and Public Culture.)
Urbana, 2003.
Investigating the different methods of songs and how they play a role in religious culture. Their
backgrounds also took a big part in this past investigation, explaining that some types of songs
take in a big part of the American culture. These songs dont only play a significant role in
rituals, but its presented in a way thats not committed to their past and beliefs. Sometimes the
songs give out different types of outcomes or senses different emotions depending on the type of
religion, but Marini had a different outcome when it came to the sacred song and that was that it
had its own central place in America. Wanting more people to know more about music traditions
this book made quite an impact back in these days, especially in historical studies and its
expected to make further connections in the future.
Wuthnow, Robert. (All in Sync: How Music and Art Are Revitalizing American Religion.)
Berkeley, 2003.
American religion has suffered a lot during the years because of such influences for education
and racial socialism. They would tell them what to believe and what they thought was right like
they didnt have an opinion about what to believe in. Later on, it became harder for society to
communicate with their loved ones, or even go to church on a daily basis. People started having
a different idea about religion and their beliefs, participation was believed to be a need in this
situation since the look for answers reduced. American religion then became more impressed by
its persistence, a project supported by the Luce Foundation then overcame the situation, speaking
the relationship between religion and the arts. To collect more information about the two types of
communities. More programs were then made to explain more about religion and arts, as well as
insights, and separating barrios.
