IDEA FOR A NEW GAME

STIMULUS

The game that I will be creating is independent but however will have inspiration
from games that are just like it and have the same concept that I want to achieve
with my game.

GENRE

A video game genre is a classification assigned to a video game based on its

gameplay interaction rather than visual or narrative differences. A video game
genre is defined by a set of gameplay challenges and are classified independent
of their setting or game-world content, unlike other works of fiction such as films
or books. For example, a shooter game is still a shooter game, regardless of
whether it takes place in a fantasy world or in outer space. As with nearly all
varieties of genre classification, the matter of any individual video game's
specific genre is open to personal interpretation. Moreover, each individual game
may belong to several genres at once.

SPORTS

A sports game is a video game that

simulates the practice of sports. Most
sports have been recreated with a
game, including team sports, track and
field, extreme sports and combat
sports. Some games emphasize
actually playing the sport (such as the
Madden NFL series), whilst others
emphasize strategy and sport
management (such as Championship
Manager and Out of the Park Baseball).
Some, such as Need for Speed, Arch
Rivals and Punch-Out!!, satirize the sport for comic effect. This genre has
been popular throughout the history of video games and is competitive,
just like real-world sports. A number of game series feature the names and
characteristics of real teams and players, and are updated annually to
reflect real-world changes.

ADVENTURE

Adventure games focus on puzzle solving within a narrative framework,

generally with few or no action elements. Other popular names for this
genre are graphic adventure or point-and-click adventure, but these
represent only part of a much broader, diverse range of games. Adventure
games are not based on what the dictionary defines as adventure. Some
are, but many forsake danger and excitement for more relaxed, thoughtful
endeavours. They are also not: role-playing games that involve extensive
combat, team-building and
points management;
action/adventures such as
Uncharted and Prince of
Persia where puzzle-solving is
clearly a secondary focus;
side-scrolling platform games
such as Mario or
LittleBigPlanet; pure puzzle
games like Bejeweled or
Tetris.

ACTION

The action game is a

video game genre that
emphasizes physical
challenges, including
handeye coordination
and reaction-time. The
genre includes diverse
subgenres such as
fighting games, shooter
games and platform
games which are widely
considered the most
important action games,
though some real-time strategy games are also considered to be action
games. In an action game, the player typically controls the avatar of a
protagonist. The avatar must navigate a level, collecting objects, avoiding
obstacles, and battling enemies with various attacks. At the end of a level
or group of levels, the player must often defeat a large boss enemy that is
larger and more challenging than other enemies. Enemy attacks and
obstacles deplete the avatar's health and lives, and the game is over
when the player runs out of lives. Alternatively, the player wins the game
by finishing a sequence of levels. But some action games, usually arcade
games, are unbeatable and have an indefinite number of levels; and the
player's only goal is to maximize their score by collecting objects and
defeating enemies.

SIMUL ATION

Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real-world process or

system over time. The act of simulating something first requires that a
model be developed; this model represents the key characteristics or
behaviors/functions of the selected physical or abstract system or process.
The model represents the system itself, whereas the simulation represents
the operation of the system over time. Simulation is used in many
contexts, such as simulation of technology for performance optimization,
safety engineering, testing,
training, education, and video
games. Often, computer
experiments are used to study
simulation models. Simulation is
also used with scientific
modelling of natural systems or
human systems to gain insight
into their functioning. Simulation
can be used to show the
eventual real effects of
alternative conditions and
courses of action. Simulation is
also used when the real system cannot be engaged, because it may not be
accessible, or it may be dangerous or unacceptable to engage, or it is
being designed but not yet built, or it may simply not exist.

STRATEGY

A strategy game or strategic game

is a game (e.g. video or board
game) in which the players'
uncoerced, and often autonomous
decision-making skills have a high
significance in determining the
outcome. Almost all strategy games
require internal decision tree style
thinking, and typically very high
situational awareness. The term
"strategy" comes ultimately from
Greek, ( or strategia)
meaning generalship. It differs from
"tactics" in that it refers to the
general scheme of things, whereas
"tactics" refers to organization and execution.

PUZZLE

Puzzle video games are a genre of video games

that emphasize puzzle solving. The types of
puzzles can test many problem-solving skills
including logic, pattern recognition, sequence
solving, and word completion. The player may
have unlimited time or attempts to solve a
puzzle, or there may be simple puzzles made
difficult by having to complete them in real-time,
as in Tetris.
ROLE PL AY

A role-playing game (RPG and sometimes roleplaying game is a game in

which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting. Players
take responsibility for acting out these roles within a narrative, either
through literal acting or through
a process of structured
decision-making or character
development. Actions taken
within many games succeed or
fail according to a formal
system of rules and
guidelines.There are several
forms of RPG. The original form,
sometimes called the tabletop
RPG, is conducted through
discussion, whereas in live
action role-playing games
(LARP) players physically perform their characters actions. In both of
these forms, an arranger called a game master (GM) usually decides on
the rules and setting to be used, acting as referee, while each of the other
players plays the role of a single character.

MANAGEMENT

Games are set in the real time

and mean that you have full
control your objectives often
include having to upgrade things
and have to collect resources as
well as earn awards and
complete objectives these games
include sports games now of the
most well-known being FIFA: also
known as FIFA Football or FIFA
Soccer, is a series of association
football video games or football simulator, released annually by Electronic
Arts under the EA Sports label. While there was no major competition
when EA released the first titles in their Madden NFL and NHL series,
football video games such as Sensible Soccer, Kick Off and Match Day had
been developed since the late 1980s and already competitive in the
games market when EA Sports announced a football game as the next
addition to their EA Sports label. The main series has been complemented
by additional installments based on single major tournaments, such as the
FIFA World Cup, UEFA European Football Championship and UEFA
Champions League, as well as a series of football management titles.

EDUCATIONAL
An educational video game is a video game
that provides educational value to the
player. Edutainment describes an
intentional merger of video games and
educational software into a single product
(and could therefore also comprise more
serious titles sometimes described under
childrens learning software). In the
narrower sense used here, the term
describes educational software which is
primarily about entertainment, but tends to
educate as well and sells itself partly under
the educational umbrella. Normally
software of this kind is not structured
towards school curricula and does not involve educational advisors.
Educational video games play a significant role in the school curriculum for
teachers who seek to deliver core lessons, reading and new skills.
Gamification of education allows learners to take active roles in learning
and develop technological skills that are needed for their academic and
professional careers. Several recent studies have shown that video games,
whether violent or not can help children in the development of intellectual
and emotional skills that support their academic achievement (Chang et
al., 2009). These findings have made teachers all over the world recognize
the numerous benefits of gaming and to include educational video game
learning in their curricula.

My final chose for the genra is actions as this is what is fitting for my game
and and the target audience that I want to have included within my game.

VIRAL MARKETING

Viral marketing, viral advertising, or marketing buzz are buzzwords

referring to marketing techniques that use pre-existing social networking
services and other technologies to try to produce increases in brand
awareness or to achieve other marketing objectives through self-
replicating viral processes, analogous to the spread of viruses or computer
viruses. It can be delivered by word of mouth or enhanced by the network
effects of the Internet and mobile networks. Viral advertising is personal
and, while coming from an identified sponsor, it does not mean businesses
pay for its distribution. Most of the well-known viral ads circulating online
are ads paid by a sponsor company, launched either on their own platform
or on social media websites such as YouTube. Consumers receive the page
link from a social media network or copy the entire ad from a website and
pass it along through e-mail or posting it on a blog, webpage or social
media profile. Viral marketing may take the form of video clips, interactive
Flash games, advergames, ebooks, brandable software, images, text
messages, email messages, or web pages. The most commonly utilized
transmission vehicles for viral messages include: pass-along based,
incentive based, trendy based, and undercover based. However, the
creative nature of viral marketing enables an "endless amount of potential
forms and vehicles the messages can utilize for transmission", including
mobile devices.

MARKET RESEARCH

TARGET AUDIENCE

of course for the age of my game my target audience is going to have to

be 18+ this means that straight off I am going to have to compare games
that are 18 and see how they are marketed. With the games that I will be
looking at there is no way I will acutely be able to define what gender the
game is and when it comes to my game I dont want it to just focus on one
gender or appeal to only one gender however with the nature of the game
I feel as that people will just straight away assume that it is directed at
boys however I do want my game to be based at both core and casual
gamers I will do this by having multiple levels and also having many
different achievements thought the game that people will be able to work
up to too archive.

Of course the age will be 18+ this is to make sure that I am able to keep to
the realism when It comes to the graphics and also the effects that will be
used within the game there is no specific gender that my game is aimed at
this will be aimed at both casual gamers and core gamers due to being
able to access the levels you can access. The preferred genre is action.

SIMIL AR GAMES ALREADY IN THE MARKET:

CALL OF DUTY: BLACK OPS

ZOMBIES: is a 2011 spin-off
game of the Call of Duty series'
Zombies mode and the sequel
to Call of Duty: Zombies. It is
the sequel to the popular mode
on Call of Duty: World at War,
the fifth title in the Call of Duty
Series. The game allows two- to
four-player co-op multiplayer,
and, as a new addition to the
iOS platform, voice chat and
another new feature - to crouch
and full prone - a first for all iOS first-person shooters. The first map
released was Kino Der Toten. Dead Ops Arcade has also been fully
transformed to the iOS platform, with 50 levels, and the player is able to
select and play as one of the four characters from the console version
(Tank Dempsey, Nikolai Belinski, Takeo Masaki
and Doctor Edward Richtofen) or as one of the four random characters
from Dead Ops Arcade and a "rookie" soldier in the tutorial. Activision has
stated that further map packs will be released in the near future, free of
charge, and Ascension was listed as coming soon in the map selection,
while Call of the Dead's name was seen briefly after that. Both of these
maps have been released.

DEAD RISING: is a series of zombie survival horror beat 'em up video

games set in an open
world. The games in the
franchise take place in
fictional cities, although
real cities are mentioned,
the first game happens in
small Mall in the town of
Willamette, Colorado. The
prequel expansion for the
second game "Case Zero"
happens in Still Creek a
small town near Las Vegas,
while the main game
happens in a Fortune City, a Casino Mall, the epilogue downloadable
content "Case West" happens in a Phenotrans Facility nearby. The third
game takes place in Los Perdidos, California. "Dead Rising 4" happens in
again, in Willamette with a zombie outbreak happening in the "Willamette
Memorial Mall" which was constructed to honor the victims of the first
game outbreak. "Phenotrans" is a farmaceutical multimillion dollar
company, which creates and distributes "Zombrex", a medicine which can
if taken daily can prevent a zombie infected person from turning into a
zombie, the medicine is sold at highly expensive prices forcing, causing a
high strain in the infected, not knowing if they will be able to afford it on
the next day. The company serves as the main antagonist of the series.
There are also organizations like C.U.R.E. (Citizens for Undead Rights and
Equality) which fought for the right of the zombies. And reality shows like
"Terror Is Reality" where the contestants compete to see who kills more
zombies, and the winner gets great amounts money.

DYING LIGHT: is an open world first person action-adventure survival

horror video game developed by Polish video game developer Techland
and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Announced in
May 2013, it was released in January 2015 for Microsoft Windows, Linux,
PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game revolves around an undercover
agent named Kyle Crane who is sent to infiltrate a quarantine zone in a
city called Harran. It features an enemy-infested, open-world city with a
dynamic day and night cycle. The day-night cycle changes the game
drastically, as enemies become more aggressive and more difficult to deal
with during night time. The gameplay is focused on weapons-based
combat and parkour.
TARGET PLATFORM

The target platform that I will be

aiming at is console this allows me
to have different concepts of
elements of gaming that arent
available on a mobile device.
However of course this does limited
to the number of people I am able to
reach out to as they will only be
able to benefit from the game if the
actually own the console that you
will be able to play it on.

DESKTOP COMPUTER

A desktop computer is a personal

computer designed for regular use
at a single location on or near a
desk or table due to its size and
power requirements. The most
common configuration has a case
that houses the power supply,
motherboard (a printed circuit
board with a microprocessor as the
central processing unit (CPU),
memory, bus, and other electronic
components), disk storage (usually
one or more hard disk drives,
optical disc drives, and in early models floppy disk drives); a keyboard and
mouse for input; and computer monitor and printer for output. The case
may be oriented horizontally and placed atop a desk or vertically and
placed underneath or beside a desk.

CONSOLE
The combination of display
monitor and keyboard (or
other device that allows
input). Another term for
console is terminal. The term
console usually refers to a
terminal attached to a
minicomputer or mainframe
and used to monitor the
status of the system. A device specially made for game play called a video
game console. The player interacts with the game through a controller, a
hand-held device with buttons and analog joysticks or pads. Video and
sound are received by the gamer though a television. See also console
game.

MOBILE DEVICE

A mobile device is a small computing

device, typically small enough to be
handheld, having a display screen with a
miniature keyboard and, in some models,
a touchscreen which enables the user to
use a "virtual keyboard" that is displayed
on screen, along with other icons and
"buttons" that can be pressed. Mobile
devices typically weighing less than 2
pounds. A handheld computing device has
an operating system, and can run mobile apps. In the 2010s, most
handheld devices are also equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, near field
communication capabilities and Global Positioning System capabilities.
They can usually be connected to the Internet and other devices, such as
an automobile or a microphone headset or they can be used to provide
location-based services. Also, these devices can usually be used to take
digital snapshots and play digital video or audio. Some mobile devices
have cellphone capabilities, enabling the user to make phone calls and
send text messages. Stable battery power is typically provided by a
lithium battery. There are a range of mobile devices designed for different
users and target markets; as such, not all mobile devices have the same
capabilities.

TELEVISION

Television or TV is a telecommunication medium used for transmitting

moving images in monochrome (black-and-white), or in color, and in two
or three dimensions and sound. It can refer to a television set, a television
program ("TV show"), or the medium of television transmission. Television
is a mass medium, for entertainment, education, news, and advertising.
ONLINE

The terms "online"

and "offline" have
specific meanings in
regard to computer
technology and
telecommunications
in which "online"
indicates a state of
connectivity, while
"offline" indicates a disconnected
state. Common vernacular extended
from their computing and
telecommunication meanings and
refers specifically to an Internet connection. Lastly, in the area of human
interaction and conversation, discussions taking place during a business
meeting are "online", while issues that do not concern all participants of
the meeting should be "taken offline"continued outside of the meeting.
