InthisguideyouwillfindinformationonhowtoconfigureandmanageaQlikViewsiteusingtheQlikView
ManagementConsole(QMC).
TheQMCgivesaccesstotheQlikViewServer(QVS)andtheQlikViewPublisher(QVP)modulesettings.It
alsosupportsthecontrolofmultipleinstancesoftheQVSandmultiplePublisherexecutioninstances,froma
singlemanagementconsole,bymeansofanintegratedtreeviewcontrol.
TheQMCuserinterfaceisprimarilybuiltupoftabs,containingpages,treeviews,folders,panes,and
dialogs.

TheStatussectioncoversinformationabouttasksthatcanbescheduled,andalsoinformationaboutthe
differentQlikViewservicesinWindows.YoualsofindinformationaboutQlikViewServerstatistics.

2 QlikViewPublisherDocumentAdministrators
TheQlikViewPublisher(QVP)allowsdelegationoftaskcreationandtaskmanagementtonon-QlikView
Administrators,thatis,usersthatarenotwithintheQlikViewAdministratorWindowsgroup.Theselimited
users,theQlikView Publisher Document Administrators,Document Administratorsin
short,areusefulwhenmultipleadministratorsareworkingwiththeQVP.Thismight,forexample,be
applicableinalargeenterprisedeploymentwithasharedinfrastructure.
This feature requires a QlikView Publisher (QVP) license key.
IntheQlikViewManagementConsole(QMC),userscanbeassignedpermissiontothesourcedocument
foldersoftheQlikViewDistributionService(QDS).IntheQlikViewServer(QVS)settings,userscanbe
assignedtoeithertheentireQVS,ortospecificmountedfoldersthatDocumentAdministratorsshouldbe
allowedtoworkwith.DocumentAdministratorsthatareloggedintotheQMCareonlyallowedtocreateand
modifytasksonthesourcedocumentsinthesefolders,andtheycannotamendanysystemsettingsorCAL
allocationsintheQMC.AQlikViewAdministratorcanalsocontrolifthetriggersonthetasksworkedwithby
theDocumentAdministratorareenabledordisabledbydefault.
The System tab is unavailable for Document Administrators and Supervisors. This means that
they cannot access supporting tasks.
PermissionsonthefoldersoftheQVSaregivenontheFolderAccesstab.
Permissionsonthesourcedocuments,aregivenontheGeneraltab,wherealsothestatusoftriggerscreated
bytheDocumentAdministratorcanbeset.
AfterhavingconfiguredaDocumentAdministrator,andusedthatusertologintotheQMC,arestricted
versionoftheQMCwillbepresented.TheDocumentAdministratorisonlyallowedtoworkwiththesource
documentsthatthisuserhaspermissionson.

forsorting;theactivecolumnhavingarevealedsorticon.Bydefault,thelistissortedontheNamecolumn.

Serversandtaskcategories.IfnocategorywassetintheSelect Categoryfieldwhenataskwas

desiredcriteriainthedialog,byticking/untickingthecheckboxes.Toreset(thatis,notuse)thefilter,

ShuttingdownaQlikViewDistributionService
TheQMCprovidesamethodforshuttingdowntheQlikViewDistributionService(QDS),inacontrolledway,
so-calledgracefulshutdown.ThisshutsdowntheQDSservice,sothatmaintenancecanbecarriedout,for
example.
ForgracefulshutdownoftheQDS,aswitchbuttoniconisprovidedintheservicestatusmessagefora
QDSservice.Whenyouclicktheswitchbutton,duringapre-configuredgraceperiod,anytasksrunninginthe
QDSareallowedtocomplete.Ifataskisnotcompletedduringthegraceperiod,itisstopped.Duringthis
graceperiod,nonewtaskscanbestartedonthatQDSservice.

TheloadscriptthatisrequiredtogeneratetheQVDfile.Toeditthescript,enterthepreferredstatementin
thistextbox.
A QVD generation task can only create a single QVD file. The script entered into the task
should contain all the script necessary to create the QlikView table, including the necessary
'CONNECT' statements. The QVD creation task automatically adds the necessary 'STORE'
statement; therefore, this statement should not be included in the script.
