Quick Guide to
Navigating within IEP
Direct
A
B
The new navigation panel consists of the Main Navigation tabs (A), and
the sub-navigation toolbar associated to each (B).
A: The Main Navigation tabs allow you select the function you wish to
work in.
B: The sub-navigation toolbar options are organized around a common
activity and contain the links you’ll need to access that activity. The
links are gathered into logical groupings and are easy to find.
Active Main Navigation tabs are identified by labels with white text.
Active tabs are enabled and available for selection by the user.
Users can only see those tabs that are appropriate for their assigned
permission level.
When a Main Navigation tab is selected, the tab label continues to
display in white, and the background of the tab changes to a lighter
background from the other tabs.
The sub-navigation toolbar for the active Main Navigation tab
displays on the row below the row containing the Main Navigation
tabs.
The Messaging screen is the first thing you’ll see when you log into IEP Direct.
The Messaging tab will be active, with the label text in white.
The sub-navigation toolbar displays the following options:
Unread Messages
Post Message
Old Messages
Sent Messages
A sub navigation option is active when its label displays dark green
text with a light green background. The other inactive options display
their labels in white text.

Understanding the Student Navigation Tab
This option opens the Master Demographics screen for the student
whose document has been selected and is available on the
Document Details sub-navigation option.
This screen allows you to view, add, and edit the student‘s
demographic information, as well as contact information (both living
with and contact information for those not living with the student).
Only users with appropriate permissions will have access to the link.
Place the mouse over the Additional State Forms sub-navigation toolbar
option to view the drop down menu of links to state forms that are
relevant to the student.
Click on the link to access the screen for that form.
Only users with appropriate permissions will have access to the links.
To navigate to another sub-navigation toolbar option from one of the
state form screens, simply place the mouse over another option and
click on a link.

Student Navigation Tab
Sub-Navigation Option: Schedule Tasks
To navigate to another sub-navigation toolbar option from one of the state form
screens, simply place the mouse over another option and click on a link.
To navigate between a sub-navigation toolbar option and a Main Navigation
tab, simply click on the desired Main Navigation tab.
Remember, the selected document will continue to remain active on the
Student tab, even if you navigate away from that tab to another Main
Navigation tab, until you select a different document to view or you log out of
IEP Direct. For example, you can select a document to view on the Student
tab, navigate to Listings, and then return to the Student tab where the same
document will continue to be displayed.
Each section of the Document Details screen may be expanded or collapsed (“+” or “-”) by
clicking on the expand/collapse icon located to the left of the section title. Expand mode
displays all the data for that section, Collapsed mode hides the data and closes up the
section.
The Document ID is displayed in the upper right hand corner of the Document Details
screen, just below the Search button. This ID uniquely identifies the specific document.
A new “Reload Document” button is located below the Document ID number. This button
allows the user to refresh the screen to view the most recent data saved in any of the
sections of the Document Details screen.
The Student Letters/Reports tab has been removed from this screen, since you may now
navigate directly to the Letters/Reports screen by clicking on the Letters/Reports Main
Navigation tab.
