V o c a t i o n a l E d u c a t i o n has been d e f i n e d as t r a i n i n g

for useful employment. T h i s d e f i n i t i o n f i t s any form o f

e d u c a t i o n except t h a t we are here t a l k i n g of a s p e c i f i c

craft or trade.

Vocational Education s t r i v e s t o :

types of l e a r n i n g .

The purpose o f t h i s t h e s i s i s t h e r e f o r e :

1. To improve the employment p o t e n t i a l s of t h e

country.

2. To i n c r e a s e the badly needed s k i l l e d and s e m i -

s k i l l e d man-pouer f o r n a t i o n a l development.

3. To design a model c e n t r e f o r v o c a t i o n a l t r a i n i n g .

S C O P E

The centre will be a two-sex non-boarding school for

500 students. It will comprise of eight work-shops, admini-

strative and academic block, with a multi purpose hall.

There will be the mobile unit department which will emerge

as the School comes into full operation. Details of the
mobile unit will be explained later in the text.
