Overall rating

Principal's level of responsibility Principal is head of school. School does not have a "Director."

1. Management style
The co-principals do not seem to value the experience and expertise of the teachers of the school. They are top
down managers with an authoritarian style of communicating with teachers. They seem to lack knowledge
about proper educational leadership and their decisions are usually flawed with perceptual errors. They
seem to lack a managerial philosophy or has one that doesn't meet up with the expectation of an international
school. As a result, the school processes are confusing to teachers, thus there is a large year-by-year turnover of
staff.
2. Academic & disciplinary support
Teachers are not well supported academically by Jeffrey Quackenbush & Yuan Ying and the admin unless it's on
matters that relate to profit making. Over the years teachers have become seriously irritated by the school's culture
due to lack of proper procedures in the school's management team, and various social cliques and mistrust have
contributed to an overly negative faculty ambiance. Excellent examples of this are the ongoing lack of proper staff-
rooms and nonchalance to teachers well-being. It seems to me that the co-principals do not fully understand the
management styles required for motivating an intellectual team. They rather appear to hate the teachers who
prove to be more knoledgeable. There are no clear rules and the academic environment is found confusing
with everyone in management having their own opinions as to what's right or wrong, but day-to-day harassment
and humiliation of non-leading teachers.
3. Hiring Process
The hiring process is completely opaque. There is no set transparent salary structure of any kind. The co-principals
have what I would call an unhealthy fixation on the appropriateness of staff clothing, among other quirks. I could not
in all honesty recommend anyone with proper qualifications and experience to work in this school if they value their

teaching and their career.

4. Additional Comments
This school is the place you'd work for if you:
1) are desperate to stay employed or
2) have zero experience or lack proper teaching qualifications.
This is not a school to work for if you value your international teaching career and the confidence you have in doing
your job.
