Brownstein, Ronald. "Federal Anti-Poverty Programs Primarily Help the GOP's Base." The
Atlantic. Atlantic Media Company, 16 Feb. 2017. Web. 02 Mar. 2017.

This article is based off how republicans would like to shrink government
assistance. But their core voters aren't going to allow it because they benefit from the
assistance, for example the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SPA). Among a
liberal analysis group, poverty among whites over the age of 18 without a college degree
reduces more than non college-educated adults. Assumption that government anti-
poverty programs primarily benefit minority communities. Although the study showed
that 25% of white people over the age of 18 in families where no one holds a four year
college degree based off of not including government benefits.
nearly 25 percent for working-age white adults in families where no one holds at least a
four-year college degree. That represents 14.1 million people in all. Accounting for the
government assistance it roughly gives 6.2 million of those non-college-educated white
adults were raised above the poverty line. Which then reduces their poverty rate to less
than 1 in 7 and brings whites above the poverty level.
African Americans gained more from federal programs than other non-whites
did. Analysts found 43% of non college educated African Americans fell under the
poverty line before receiving assistance from the government. This is The Atlantic article

In the bottom tier are 20.5 million people6.7 percent of the populationwho
are in deep poverty, with an income less than half the poverty line (below $9,000 for a
family of three). Although, a lot of government policies has helped keep people from
falling into poverty. The level of poverty during the time between 1970 and 2000 has
changed tremendously. At one point it was 11.1%, but that was in 1973 and it was the
lowest level achieved.
This problem can be faced due to time because we can begin to create jobs that
can support people and that can create a steady living income for people's families. Some
income equivalents would be providing health care, child care, ensuring that there will be
full employment and policies that will bring everyone in the community closer to having
a healthy income. We have to restore the safety net for the poorest of the poor. This is

exploded with industrial new homes. These East Contra Costa County (East County)
cities attractive to middle-class families seeking affordable home prices. This resulted
into families that were poor and the poor population grew. The people living in the

jobs.
The East County area became the foreclosure capital, there was approximately 1
in every 18 homes that were foreclosed. Owners began seeking out stable rental income,
in some cases from lower-income households using housing choice vouchers. The
challenges that everyone had to pace with was one thing but the areas extrem non-profit
safety net was an overwhelming barrier to the citys counselors. Lastly, the communities
of East Contra Costa County lacked proximity and transportation options.
Today, the Bay Area stands at a crossroads. East County is growing rapidly and
it needs a extreme economic development strategies that will include, more
comprehensive local services, affordable housing, and better transportation connections
to everyone. At the same time we need to keep in mind that a sustainable economic future
for East County will depend on a real estate market recovery. This is a website that can be
