0 INTRODUCTION

1.1 General purpose of the project

In a group of 3, we are assigned to redraw a plan from a completed architectural plan of

Maktab PDRM Kelas D Rumah Banglo. By using Autocad application, we have proposed
the allocated structural plan and architectural plan completed with its typical details,
electrical layout plan, mechanical plan which include: water plumbing and sanitary with
correct arrangement of beam, position of column and size of structure.

This double-storey bungalow consist of a basement floor plan, first floor plan and roof plan.
Different architectural plan have different structure of construction at the allocated part.

1.2 REPORT OVERVIEW

The reports of the project starts with the general purpose of the project. The report contains
methodology, aims and objectives, and symbol of architecture, M&E, and structure. The
report also contains project timeline. Lastly, we also provide the standard symbol of
architecture, mechanical, electrical, and structure.

2.0 METHODOLOGY

In a group of max. 5 students, we were assigned to redraw the architectural given by the
lecturer. Each group got different architectural plan. Our group got the architectural plan
entitled Maktab PDRM Blok D Banglo. We made some references on internet, library and
asking UTHM seniors regarding this matter

By using AutoCad software, we did the architectural plan. Next, we proceed to the structural
plan which consist of layout of foundation, ground floor, roof plan, and first floor. We also
had been asked to provide the details of pad footing and column schedule. We also proposed
three span of beam details (min, moderate and long).

Secondly, we did the layout of mechanical plan which consist of isometric water plumbing
and 2D sanitary schematic plan.

Finally, after done with the drawing, we came out with the project report.

3.0 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

This projects aims to develop students understanding in designing house planning

(mechanical, structure, architecture) and enhance students skills in using AutoCad software.

4.0 PROJECT BRIEF

4.1 Architectural plan

Architectural drawing shows the plan and view of a building. This type of drawing is
necessary for construction of building and as reference for contractors in meeting and
specifications. Architects and draftsman are responsible for preparing the building
drawings. The drawing is presented in the form of orthographic drawing and drawn
according to the UBE (Uniform Building Enactment 1984). Drawn using standard
architectural symbols, dimension, material specification and quality according to required
design.

Number of bathrooms 3
Number of kitchens 2

Living room 3
Balcony 2
House details (brief) according to architectural plan- kindly refer to attachments

The purpose of this section is to show the inside part of this house either in cross section or
longitudinal section. The sizes of windows and doors are prepared in the given schedule.

4.2 LAYOUT PLAN OF M&E, AND STRUCTURAL

The structure plans are provided to:

Maktab PDRM Blok D Banglo Page 2

promote a better understanding of the inter-relatedness of issues and proposed
management approaches to be used in a particular area (through the use of visual
material such as maps, plans and diagrams)
ensure that new development achieves good urban design outcomes by defining
the layout, pattern, density and character of new development and transportation
networks
coordinate the staging of development over time, particularly where large areas
are to be developed or redeveloped
provide certainty to developers, the council, key stakeholders and the wider
public regarding the layout, character and costs of development in an area
earmarked for growth or redevelopment.

This plan will be included the arrangement of beam, position of column and size of structure.
Foundation plan is a structural plan of footings and building walls.

4.2.1 ELECTRICAL PLAN

An electrical plan shows information about power, lighting, and communication for
an engineering or architectural project. Any electrical working drawing consists of "lines,
symbols, dimensions, and notations to accurately convey an engineering's design to the
workers, who install the electrical system on the job". A complete set of working drawings
for the average electrical system in large projects usually consists of:

A plot plan showing the building's location and outside electrical wiring

Floor plans showing the location of electrical systems on every floor

Power-riser diagrams showing panel boards

Control wiring diagrams

4.3 MECHANICAL PLAN

Mechanical systems can include elements of infrastructure, plant and machinery, tool and
components, heating and ventilation and so on. Electrical systems might include, power
supply and distribution, telecommunications, computing instrumentation, control systems
and so on.

Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services (MEP) is a significant component of

the construction supply chain. MEP design is critical for design decision-making, accurate
documentation, performance and cost-estimating, construction planning, managing and
operating the resulting facility.

6.0 STANDARD SYMBOLS

6.1 Architectural Symbol

These finishing elements :
- will be used as symbols of the nature materials or structures.
- from floors, windows, doors, roofs, walls and so on
- many symbols has been developed in the drawing.

DISCUSSION

After conducting the project, we are able to :

Understanding Architectural Drawing and standard Architectural Symbols
know the overall plan before build a building/house.
identify and understand practical detail standard, symbols for various civil
engineering materials as in British Standard - BS 1192:Part 3: 1987 (Construction
Drawing Practice: Part 3 Recommendations for symbols and other graphic
conventions).Understand and draw the foundation layout and detail, columns, beams
and reinforced concrete slab and roof.
Know the importance of each plan before the house are made so that can ease the
engineers and architects to do their work.

CONCLUSION

By the end of this project, we managed to complete all the drawings mechanical,
electrical, and structural successfully.

Other than understanding how each members works, we took into consideration very
carefully from the architectural plan on the dimension, and the format to save the files in the
format of dwg2000 to avoid any problems occur during the day of submission. We also
realise the proper planning, in terms of work delegation and the time interval between the day
we got the assignment and dateline. We also strived to achieve the highest accuracy in the
measurement of each drawing by generating AutoCad Drawing and plot it out to refer.

In conclusion, it has been a great experience working on this project. This project
required a lot of patience putting the whole thing together, but it never fails to amaze us how
the beautiful outcome it can be.
