Development
Have the students sit in the ready position on the floor. Hand each student 6 cards. Students will lay cards
upright in front of them. Have students take turns asking one person (student 1) for a card, if that student 2
doesnt have a match for them, then have that student 2 says, Go fish! So student 1 would proceed to
pick up a card from the center pile. When a student has a pair, they must place that pair off to the side so
others can longer pick that number from them.
-Make sure students are being polite when asking each other and make sure they are staying on task and
not getting out of control use whispering voices if needed.

Have students share the numbers on the match pairs they have. Then have students count how many pairs
they have. Reassure students that its ok if they dont have as many pairs as their classmates. After
Closure collecting cards and recording who knew what numbers, ask each student where they will be playing for
choice time.
