Photosynthesis

Variable: Amount of Water- H20

Procedure:
Our experiment will start with 2 of the same plants. They will be the same size. We will
progressively add water to it. One will be watered with the regular amount of water (the
control) while the other will be watered with more water (the experiment).

The regular amount of water will be 10 mL every other day

The experiment will receive 25 mL every other day

After we will see which one has grown the most.

We will take pictures of the plants before and after the experiment. We will also
measure the plant in centimeters everyday when we dont water it and weigh both
plants.

Prediction: We think that the plant that receives the regular amount of water will grow
faster and taller than the plant that receives more than needed.

Dates Lab Was Performed: 3/3/17 through 3/24/17

Purpose: The reason we did this lab was to see what condition the plants must be in to
grow. We had two experiments, one plant watered with a regular amount of H2O, and
one with the exceeded amount.

Hypothesis: If we water a plant with 10 milliliters of water every other day, it will grow
faster than a plant that receives 25 milliliters of water.

Materials:
Water 2 plants
Graduated cylinder scale
Ruler light source

We will also
measure the plant in centimeters everyday when we dont water it and weigh both
plants.
Results: Contrary to our hypothesis, the control did not grow faster than the
experiment. In fact, the experiment only died less quickly than the control. While the
control did not lose any height, it lost almost exactly half its weight. It was originally
90.24 grams in week 1. By week 4, the weight had dwindled down to 45.42 grams. The
control also went from having 10 petals and 2 flowers to having 0 flowers, 0 peals, and
1 bud. The color purple and lavender in the flowers, to only purple in the flowers, and
light green in the stem. In comparison, the experiment fared only a little better.
The experiment lost 2 cm, and went from 91.90g to 88.42g. The experiment started with 14
petals and 3 flowers, and ended up with 1 petal and 1 flower.

Conclusion: In conclusion, our hypothesis was wrong. We expected the control to fair
better than the experiment, while in reality it was the experiment that outlasted the
control.
