CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

The main purpose of the module project JJ614 was to train school diploma

semester six to build creativity in producing new technologies or refurbish existing

technology to meet the needs of users of the products of this project can increase the

level of safety, comfort, user-friendliness, friendly nature, and can give satisfaction

and a positive impact on consumers and the community around it.

25

Students must produce a report on group projects and according to the

conditions laid down by the Polytechnic. The project must be generated from the

student's own idea of whether the design, research and development, laboratory

testing, manufacture, reading or internet research, as well as build computer software

programming.

The main objective is to enable students to apply knowledge learned in the

polytechnics and reams to produce a project quality, creative, innovative and better

can be marketed for industrial use at present which are being built.

In addition, the project produced should be translated in writing in accordance

with the format specified by the polytechnic. Any procedure for generating the

project should be clearly stated together with the diagrams to further strengthen the

report.

Students also have to meet with my supervisor to discuss the problems

encountered when producing a project like writing a draft report, the proposed

improvements, the sketch project and so indirectly the students can learn how to

communicate with the lecturer.

In addition, students can shape their personality by applying the

cooperation in completing the project on time has been set. All team members need

to engage in discussions to make decisions regarding the projects to be implemented.

Here the leadership of chairman or deputy group is very important to divide the tasks

to other partners to complete the project in a timely manner.

26

Thus, the final project last semester is important to train the students in preparation

for further studies at a higher level. Production of the projects require creative

thinking and dare to make a decision to be thinking more mature students.

INTRODUCTION

Chapter 1 contains only 3 parts only, the statement of the problem, objectives and

scope of the project. It will describe the problems faced by workers in the workshop

or students at school. Our objective in dealing with this problem are those of a

machine "injector" cheaper to eliminate the problem.

This project was implemented to facilitate workers in the workshop and the students

in their learning sessions.

1.1 Problem Statement

"Injector" is a component that will inject fuel into the internal combustion engine.

It is a component that plays an important role in the burning of the fuel system as it

will inject fuel into the cylinder by a predetermined value. Bursts of "injector" can be

continuous or discontinuous.
27

Among the problems faced by the "injector" blockages and problems to do

the work of servicing the injector. The same applies to the students, they often

face the same problems to ensure "injector" that in normal circumstances. The

studies that have been carried out, I found a common problem faced by test

"injector" is as follows: -

1. The cost of the machine "injector tester" is too expensive.

2. It should be sent to a service center if there is a problem with the "injector".

3. Charge the service "injector" charged is high.

4. It takes longer to retrieve or send an "injector" is.

5. Students also do not understand how the system works.

6. EFI system disturbances during lessons.

7. Issues to examine the "injector" is.

1.1 OBJECTIVES

The project aims to help solve the problem often encountered in the

workplace. Similarly, the problems often faced by students at the institute.

Among its objectives are: -

1. Designing a machine "injector tester" at a cost that is cheaper and easier to

use.
28

2. This tool can also be used as a teaching tool to help understand how

"injector" working.
3. Differentiate between "injector" that function normally or not.

1.4 SCOPE OF PROJECT `

The scope of this project is to facilitate the work in the workshop for servicing

the injector. This is because the cost to service the "injector" is high and takes

a long time. Students also encounter problems when subjet their learning

because there is a problem with the injectors. Therefore I have developed my

project to overcome it.

1. To use "injector" for fuel injection systems of gasoline only.

2. It is designed for light vehicles only.

LITERATURE RESEARCH
29

2.1 INTRODUCTION

The results of the research will provide full details of the project, any weakness or

deficiency in the project will be addressed so that this product will be better. Benefits

of this product will be used so that it becomes a product that is able to provide

facilities and increase student knowledge about the injector system.

It is very important to ensure that the projects we undertake are relevant to our

objectives. Hence it can avoid the problems that will arise after the project is

completed.

Therefore, a detailed study should be conducted to ensure that the methods to be

implemented in conformity with the requirements. The design and use of equipment

is also studied in advance to provide convenience to the user in the way of learning

system. With this literature review, is expected to reduce the existing problems.

2.2 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY

30

Among the methods of our research group is the SCARA also use the internet to get

the appropriate information. Using methods like this, a lot of advantages compared

with other methods for:

A variety of information can be compared with each other.

Information will be received more quickly and easily.

Information on the internet together with more precise and important information

and images.

Review internet.

The carburetor is a word derived from the French word 'carbure' meaning

"carbide". Carburer also intends to join the carbon. In the fuel, there are chemicals

that increase the carbon content (and thus power) fuel by mixing it with volatile

hydrocarbons.

Carburetors work of Bernoulli's principle: the faster air movement, static pressure,

low air pressure, and the higher the dynamic pressure. Throttle (accelerator) chain

indirectly control the flow of liquid fuel. Instead, it moves the carburetor

mechanisms which meter the flow of air drawn into the engine. The flow speed, and

therefore pressure, determines the amount of fuel drawn into the airstream. This

movement occurs because there is a vacuum in the system to suck the fuel out

through the oil channel.

Here is a ratio control the fuel and air mixture in an engine:

31

Cold air start 7: 1 fuel

Idling air 10: 1 fuel

accleration air 12: 1 fuel

High speed air 15: 1 fuel

The ratio is calculated by weight

Figure: 2.2.1 Sectional carburetor

Injector was controlled by the electronic control. It is supplied with fuel

pressurized by the fuel pump in the car and he was able to open and close many

times per second. When the injector is supplied tenaga elektrik, elektromagnet

will move a pump which will open the valve, it allows the pressurized fuel to

squirt out through a tiny nozzle injectors. The nozzle is designed to atomize the

fuel to flare like the mist making as smooth as possible so that it is flammable

and is not easy to dirty.

32

Figure: 2.2.2 spray injector

EFI mechanical parts starting with a high-pressure fuel pump, which is located inside

the fuel tank. Fuel is pumped from the tank through the fuel filter and injector

through the supply channel. Pressure on supply channels ensure pressure fuel injector

constant. When the fuel has been injected, the surplus is returned to the tank through

a pipe returm. This is because the pressure of the fuel injectors must be continued to

ensure that work consistently. Spray fuel directly into the intake manifold where it

mixes with air, and then drawn into the combustion chamber of the engine cylinder.

Electrical parts consisting of EFI ECU and sensor wiring. An injector wiring

connecting the ECU and the battery power source. ECU also has been connected

with various sensors located inside the engine air box. ECU will calculate the

condition of the engine and the vehicle speed in order to determine the right amount

of fuel to be sprayed from each injector.

2. Fuel pump

The fuel pump are usually located inside the fuel tank. This pump will create

positive pressure in the fuel line, then it will push gasoline to the injectors for

engines in monasteries.

3. Fuel filter

Fuel filter is a filter in the fuel line that will filter out dirt and rust particles from the

fuel, it will usually made of a very fine filter paper.

4. Delivery pipe

Delivery pipe is a drain hose or pipe for transporting fuel to the system

burning. It will be connected to the fuel rail.

35

5. Fuel rail

Used to deliver fuel to each fuel injector in an internal combustion engine. It is

designed to have a place for each injector and the entry to the fuel supply.

1. Injector

Fuel injection is a system for the delivery of fuel to the internal combustion engine.

Fuel injection is a fuel injection atomizes shaped by forcibly pumping through a

small nozzle under high pressure. Fuel injector works for puncturing into the

cylinder by the signal provided by the ECU.

2. Pulsation damper

2.4 HOW TO CONTROL SYSTEM

36

Electronic fuel control system (EFI) is a new method to replace karbuetor system.

The EFI system uses a sensor to detect an engine and overall condition of the

vehicle. This is because the sensor will use the information and data from sensors to

analyze the volume of fuel injection for vehicles according to the condition of the

vehicle.

2.5 ELECTRONIC FUEL CONTROL SYSTEM (EFI)

2.7 PROBLEM INJECTOR

Injector is a component that will provide fuel to the combustion system. The

situation should be kept clean injectors of all impurities. If the injectors are dirty and

unclean, this condition can cause a spray that will take place will not be perfect and

not according to the ratio that has been fixed. This problem can occur because in

kokotoran on fuel. Although the fuel has been refined, fine dust sanggat will miss

and will tersanggkut the injector. Increasingly, it will be more and more and will

affect the value of the injector spray. Among other problems faced by the injectors

are:

2.8 METHODS conventional

Before injector tester is introduced, workers workshop will be facing problems to

test the injector. Therefore, they will deploy it to a service center injectors

injector. This problem occurs because the market price of an existing machine

is high. Normally this would menambil a long time to send, wait for service

and reinstall injector. Similarly, students in educational centers, they also face

the same problem. They also face the problem that the injector has been used.

Caused by the specifications will change.

With the engine injector tester, works in the workshop will be easier and it will be

faster and more orderly. The project is run workshops to help employees and

students to carry out their tasks. With a reasonable cost salty injector can be

developed and provide convenience to the user. In addition, this project will

reduce the cost manservis, the time spent to send and wait injector at a service

center. Students can also use this facility to enhance their knowledge during

the wait time injectors in service.

2.9 CONCEPT OF INJECTOR TESTER

41

Machine injector tester is designed to reduce costs and save time to be used pending

the injector is serviced at a service center. Therefore, this project developed with the

use of affordable and it can be advantageous to the owner of the shop. Students also

will learn facility such as this system more easily and it will benefit their learning

systems.

Among the advantages of this engine injector tester is that it is cheaper than the price

of the machine in the market. With a capital of around 344.70 a workshop afford to

have their own machinery injector tester. The project is also to facilitate the

workshop because their owners can test the injectors themselves in their workshop.

They no longer need to send proviacy service and also can reduce the cost of service.

The size of the medium can also save space and also allows it to be stored and used

only when necessary.

. In addition, learning for students in priority in the construction of this

project. It is to enable the students to understand how the system works in addition

injector to injector test vehicle used for their study sessions. Students can also learn

how the system timer can function in a timely manner and the movement of the fuel

system. Thus, their studies will not be interrupted due to the imperfect state of the

injector

especially when running the 'rebates' be done carefully so that the project looks neat

and attractive to produce high-quality projects.

Moreover, in terms of use cases should also be noted that the external form or

physical form of the project look more attractive. From the observations made

regarding this project have already said to conform to procedures for the flatness of

the overall quality and design of the project looks satisfactory.

62

4.5 TEST PROJECT

There are three methods of testing should be carried out to ensure the project was

functioning properly and according to specifications. Among the studies that have

been carried out on these products is functional testing of components and electronic

testing.

Testing of the component's functionality:

The test is divided into 3 parts that need to be carried out to ensure the effectiveness

of the project. The first test is to ensure the injection is done by the "injector" is in
63

accordance with a preset specification. This is to ensure that the spray in accordance

with the actual standard.

Tests two is to measure the amount of fuel to be flat by a predetermined time. Fuel

will be measured in a container that has been provided.

The third test is to ensure "injector" melelih not leak or not the fuel pump when the

switch is turned on. "Injector" that will check if the fuel pump is turned on.
