William Bradford was governor of the Plymouth Colony i 1621.
In two or three months time half of their company died, espically in the depth of winter, and wanting
houses and other comforts; being infected with the scurvy and other diseases there died sometimes
two or three a day of 100 and odd persons, scarce 50 remained. And of these there was but six or
seven sound persons who to thier great commendation took care of the sick people and willingly
and cheerfully showing herein their true love unto their friends.
