Objections on Safety Grounds
Issue Date February 10, 2016

1. OBJECTIVE

The objective of this Management Instruction is to ensure that staff are

informed of the Approved procedure for handling objections on safety
grounds to carrying out work.

2. DEFINITIONS

Definitions printed in bold type are detailed in the Company Safety Rules.

3. IMPLEMENTATION OF THE APPROVED PROCEDURE

The Person issuing instructions on the application of the Safety Rules on Site
is to be interpreted as the Safety Controller for the Plant or Apparatus.

The Safety Controller must inform the Site Manager's Nominee that an
objection has been raised.

All Persons issuing instructions shall present a positive and helpful attitude
to any objections on safety grounds and attempt, by discussion and
amplification, to resolve the difficulty.

Where appropriate, remedial action should be taken immediately to deal

with the matter having safety implications.

Should the Safety Controller be unable to resolve the objection with the
person raising it, then it is to be dealt with by the Site Manager's Nominee at
a first level of appeal.

The circumstances where there is a continuing disagreement, the Site

Manager will conduct an enquiry and resolve the issue either on or off site.
