Numerus clausus BSc AE, Arch and IDE

Page for BSc Aerospace, Architecture and Industrial Design applicants

only

Admission letter
After applying on-line and sending in your hard copy documents, your application
will first be evaluated whether it has the same level as the Dutch pre-university
(VWO) diploma.
If so, you will receive a conditional Admission letter of TU Delft by email. (But as
you are on Delftulip you must have been conditionally admitted).

Unfortunately this conditional Admission letter does not mean, that you have
been selected for the course of your choice yet. You will also need to obtain a
place in a further selection procedure called Numerus Clausus, organized by the
Ministry of Education.

Numerus clausus procedure

The Numerus clausus selection procedure consists of:

a Decentralized selection by your future faculty or

a Central selection by the Ministry

Decentralized selection
To participate in the so-called Decentralized selection (pre-selection) by your
faculty you need to meet two (so both) deadlines:

1. Application deadline TU Delft:

TU Delft must have received your complete hard copy documents before
the following dates (which are earlier than the regular Application deadline
of 1 April):
- for Aerospace Engineering (AE): 15 January;
- for Architecture (Arch): 1 March;
- for Industrial Design Engineering (IDE): 1 March. IDE students should
also submit the form Decentrale Selectie Bachelor Industrieel Ontwerpen
(see procedure below) before the same date.

If we receive your complete application later, but before 1 April 2013, you
can only participate in the Central selection.

2. Registration deadline in Studielink:

You must have completed your registration in Studielink before the
following dates:
- for Aerospace Engineering (AE): 15 May;
- for Architecture (Arch) and Industrial Design Engineering (IDE): 1
March.
If you do not register in Studielink in time you cannot be placed in the
decentralized selection process.
Visit our page Enrolment in Studielink how to register.

The decentralized selection will be done by the selection committee of your

faculty.

AE candidates: see procedure Decentralised Selection Aerospace

Engineering.
Arch candidates: see procedure Decentralised Selection Architecture ;

IDE candidates: see procedure Decentrale Selectie BSc IO (in Dutch).

During the decentralized selection the best 88 AE, 90 Arch and 50 IDE students
respectively will be selected for a place in the course, provided that they also
meet the other requirements. Results are expected by end-March (for AE) or 15
May (for Arch and IDE).

If you are not selected in this decentralized selection (or in case you did not meet
the deadlines mentioned above) you will automatically enter into the Central
selection; see next paragraph.

Central selection by DUO (mid-July)

All candidates:

who were not selected in the decentralized selection or who did not
participate in this selection and

who register(ed) in Studielink before 15 May

will enter into the Central selection by DUO. DUO is a department of the Ministry
of Education (not to be confused with DUWO, the student housing company of
Delft).

The remaining places in the Central selection will be allocated by means of a

lottery among all candidates that have not been selected yet, both Dutch and
internationals. More information on the procedure can be found on this DUO
website.

The first batch of results of the Central selection process will be send by mid-July.
But afterwards positive results will still follow, as selected students withdraw and
the vacant places will be filled again with the next person on the priority list.
Results will be send to your correspondence home address as known in Studielink
(see below). This leaves little time (or even insufficient time, if you need a
Visa) for making further arrangements if you are selected.

Direct placement
Candidates who achieved or expect to obtain an European preliminary education
or an International Baccalaureate with final results that are comparable to the
average of an 8.0 or higher in the Netherlands will be directly placed in the
Central Selection. As a guide line: you should be in the top 4% of all applicants to
qualify. See the the list of most common European diplomas: DUO website.

The results of the direct admission will be announced from mid-July onwards. This
leaves little time (or even insufficient time, if you need a Visa) for making further
arrangements if you are selected. Therefore we urge all students who expect to
be entitled to Direct placement to still participate in the Decentralized selection,
as the results of this selection will be know much earlier.

15 Mei verklaring (15-May statement)

As part of the selection process TU Delft needs to provide DUO with a document
that you meet (or are going to meet) all requirements needed for your course.
This document is called a '15-mei-verklaring'.
TU Delft will send a digital statement concerning these requirements directly to
DUO shortly before 15 May. So you need not ask us to do this.
However, if you still had deficiencies while applying, and those deficiencies have
been taken away, please provide us with the necessary proof before 15 May.

Note that the Dutch language requirement mentioned by DUO does not apply to
all our Master courses and the BSc course Aerospace, as they are taught in
English.

Bewijs van Toelating (Statement of Admission)

If you have been selected for a place either in the decentralized faculty selection
or the central selection DUO will send you a final Bewijs van Toelating (Statement
of Admission) after the complete procedure has been finished (so not before mid-
July).

Note that even with a Bewijs van Toelating you may still not enrol, if you do not
send in your diploma or the Reply card in time (see the paragraph Missing
documents deadline below).

Registration in studielink required

Always make sure that you register in studielink before the deadlines. If you do
not, you cannot be placed, even if you would be selected.

If we received your complete application before the application deadline

of 15 January (AE) and 1 March (IDE and Arch) and you want to participate
in the decentralized selection, you should tick the box selection via TU
Delft while registering in Studielink. Afterwards Studielink will display
your status as: Wait for (results of) decentralized selection (or an
equivalent; the messages change regularly);

If we received your complete application after the deadline (and you

therefore cannot participate in the decentralized selection) you should tick
the box central selection while registering in Studielink.
Afterwards Studielink will display your status as: Participation for central
selection process transmitted (or an equivalent; the messages change
regularly).

More information on this registration can be found on our page Enrolment in

Studielink.

Missing documents deadline

Note that you will still be conditionally admitted until you have:

received the Bewijs van Toelating (Statement of Admission) of DUO AND

fulfilled all other administrative requirements.

As for this administrative requirements; both TU Delft and DUO need to receive
a certified copy of your secondary school diploma (and other documents that
have been asked for):

For DUO you need to send this certified copy before 23 June 2013. If that is
impossible, you should mail in the Reply card Late Admission that DUO will
send you before the same date or sent already an email to DUO:
CBAP@duo.nl and provide them with your full name/address/date of birth
and ask for the extension.
Then you will have respite for sending in the diploma till 1 August.

For the TU Delft the deadline is 1 August.

The DUO address is:

Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs

Internat. Antwoordnummer
I.B.R.S. / C.C.R.I. Numro 507
9700 WB Groningen
the Netherlands.

To help you fill out the DUO form Opsturen van bewijsstukken ('Sending in
supporting documents') which is partially in Dutch, we have prepared an
Example.

Payment deadline

In order to proceed with your enrollment at TU Delft, your guarantee amount

must be received by TU Delft before the payment deadline of 1 July 2013.
