Admission letter
After applying on-line and sending in your hard copy documents, your application
will first be evaluated whether it has the same level as the Dutch pre-university
(VWO) diploma.
If so, you will receive a conditional Admission letter of TU Delft by email. (But as
you are on Delftulip you must have been conditionally admitted).
Unfortunately this conditional Admission letter does not mean, that you have
been selected for the course of your choice yet. You will also need to obtain a
place in a further selection procedure called Numerus Clausus, organized by the
Ministry of Education.
Decentralized selection
To participate in the so-called Decentralized selection (pre-selection) by your
faculty you need to meet two (so both) deadlines:
If we receive your complete application later, but before 1 April 2013, you
can only participate in the Central selection.
During the decentralized selection the best 88 AE, 90 Arch and 50 IDE students
respectively will be selected for a place in the course, provided that they also
meet the other requirements. Results are expected by end-March (for AE) or 15
May (for Arch and IDE).
If you are not selected in this decentralized selection (or in case you did not meet
the deadlines mentioned above) you will automatically enter into the Central
selection; see next paragraph.
who were not selected in the decentralized selection or who did not
participate in this selection and
will enter into the Central selection by DUO. DUO is a department of the Ministry
of Education (not to be confused with DUWO, the student housing company of
Delft).
The first batch of results of the Central selection process will be send by mid-July.
But afterwards positive results will still follow, as selected students withdraw and
the vacant places will be filled again with the next person on the priority list.
Results will be send to your correspondence home address as known in Studielink
(see below). This leaves little time (or even insufficient time, if you need a
Visa) for making further arrangements if you are selected.
Direct placement
Candidates who achieved or expect to obtain an European preliminary education
or an International Baccalaureate with final results that are comparable to the
average of an 8.0 or higher in the Netherlands will be directly placed in the
Central Selection. As a guide line: you should be in the top 4% of all applicants to
qualify. See the the list of most common European diplomas: DUO website.
The results of the direct admission will be announced from mid-July onwards. This
leaves little time (or even insufficient time, if you need a Visa) for making further
arrangements if you are selected. Therefore we urge all students who expect to
be entitled to Direct placement to still participate in the Decentralized selection,
as the results of this selection will be know much earlier.
Note that the Dutch language requirement mentioned by DUO does not apply to
all our Master courses and the BSc course Aerospace, as they are taught in
English.
If you have been selected for a place either in the decentralized faculty selection
or the central selection DUO will send you a final Bewijs van Toelating (Statement
of Admission) after the complete procedure has been finished (so not before mid-
July).
Note that even with a Bewijs van Toelating you may still not enrol, if you do not
send in your diploma or the Reply card in time (see the paragraph Missing
documents deadline below).
Always make sure that you register in studielink before the deadlines. If you do
not, you cannot be placed, even if you would be selected.
As for this administrative requirements; both TU Delft and DUO need to receive
a certified copy of your secondary school diploma (and other documents that
have been asked for):
For DUO you need to send this certified copy before 23 June 2013. If that is
impossible, you should mail in the Reply card Late Admission that DUO will
send you before the same date or sent already an email to DUO:
CBAP@duo.nl and provide them with your full name/address/date of birth
and ask for the extension.
Then you will have respite for sending in the diploma till 1 August.
To help you fill out the DUO form Opsturen van bewijsstukken ('Sending in
supporting documents') which is partially in Dutch, we have prepared an
Example.
