DICTIONARY APRIL 2017 - TEFLON COATINGS

Klbertop: Trade name for a range of non-stick coatings and anticorrosion protectors
developed by Klber.

These are low friction coatings used for metal, plastic and elastomeric surfaces. Such coatings
protect surfaces from corrosion and wear, and ensure a longer life for the products in which
they are applied.

They are also applied in the automotive sector or indoor closures requiring an excellent
protection against corrosion. The names for the coatings belonging to this trading range are:

- Klbertop TP 46-111
- Klbertop TN 01-311 A/B
- Klbertop TM 06-111
- Klbertop TG 05 N
- Klbertop TP 36-1300 A/B

Molydag: Trade name for a resin coating lubricant distributed by Acheson. This type of
coating is specially designed to provide dry film lubrication to building, security, mining or
agricultural equipment.

It is a combination of M0S2 and other lubricants dispersed in an epoxy resin solution, and that
can be applied using a brush or a spray. It also provides long-lasting lubrication and excellent
corrosion resistance to all parts, even the ones that have become inaccessible after bonding
one to another and keep performing accurately.

Neoflon : Fluoropolymer range marketed by Daikin and made up of six different coating
series:
- Neoflon PFA, AP-Series Perfluoro-polymer consisting of carbon and fluorine
atoms without any hydrogen atom. It responds effectively to both high and low
temperatures and has excellent transparency and mechanical resistance. It is
shapeable.
- Neoflon FEP, NP-Series Melt-processable perfluoro-copolymer of
tetrafluoroethylene and hexafluoropropylene. It has excellent electrical properties
although its resistance to heat is lower.
- Neoflon PCTFE, M-Series It offers the best performance for gas barriers and has
a low permeability to moisture and vapour atmosphere. Heat and chemical resistance
are lower than in previous series, but mechanical characteristics (especially the
hardness) are superior.
- Neoflon CPT, LP-Series This is a new fluoropolymer type that has excellent
barrier properties for all kinds of organic solvents and volatile acids. It is designed to
adhere to other plastics and is suitable for extrusion in multilayer tubes or films.
- Neoflon ETFE, EP-Series Copolymer of tetrafluoroethylene and ethylene having
the lowest specific gravity of all fluoropolymers. It has excellent features regarding
melt processability and unusual electrical and chemical properties. It is suitable for
applications requiring mechanical strength, chemical resistance, heat resistance and
electrical properties.
- Neoflon EFEP, RP-Series New fluoropolymer that easily adheres to other
materials. Moreover, it has the same chemical resistance than other types of
fluoropolymers. It is also more transparent than conventional fluoropolymers.
Orgasol: This Arkema-patented polymer is used to produce ultrafine powder leading to a
product with unique shape and narrow distribution. Orgasol, which is manufactured avoiding
the milling step used to make most powders, delivers round grains in seven sizes and a high
precise control of grain size dispersion.

Based on 3 polyamide powders (PA 6, PA 12 and PA 6/12), Orgasol powders hold other
characteristics such as:

- Microporosity.
- Melting temperature range between 140C and 220C to allow different procedure
temperatures.
- Low density, which helps keeping a stable dispersion.

Orgasol reinforces and improves abrasion and scratch resistance of coatings and inks, and
it is also used to control gloss or to give specific textured finishes.
