In chapter 8, of Writing in Transit, this chapter is based off of arguments.

An argument is

the writer stating their evidence and trying to state their opinion and facts upon a topic. The

writer can structure how they want the audience to see their point of view and what they are

aiming for in response. The claim, thesis, proof and position help the context be illustrated in

which goes a certain direction depending on how the reader sees it. When creating an argument,

the writer must then find an answer to the question they are asking. Thats when the thesis comes

in, which provides an answer. The research gathered to make and argument and come up with a

thesis is to analyze an experiment, conduct surveys and observe. The purpose of an argument is

for the writer to persuade the reader with backing it up with a claim and thesis. An argument is

what makes the paper and is based off of what is being said and what evidence supports it. Ever

since middle school we learned how to use an argument in our paper and have our whole focus

on that main idea. Without an argument, there is no opinion for what the writer is trying to

convince its readers. Learning what an argument can provide and how to use one influences the

whole purpose of the writing what the writer is trying to portray. At the end of the writing, the

argument has to be so persuasive and strong which allows the writer to close with a great

conclusion.
