Hajjduas

BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM
a)Leaving Home – Whenever one intends to make a journey especially for Hajj or Ziyarat then first, one must pray to Allah
for safety and well being, then make a will, give sadaka .
Then when one is ready to leave he should say 4 rakaats namaaz in the house in this manner – in each of the 4 rakaats
recite sura Al – Hamd and then sura – Tawheed.
After namaz recite the following. ALLAHUMA INNII ATAQARRABU ILAIKA BIHINNA FAJALHUNNA KHALIFATII FEE
AHLII WAMAALI.
Then stand at the door of the house and recite sura Al-Hamd and Ayatul –ul Qursi 3 times facing the front, the right and left
sides and then the following dua:
ALLAHUMMA-HFAZNII WAHFAZ MAA MAIYA WASALLIMNII WASALLIM MAA MAIYA WABALIGHNII

WABALLIGH MAA MAIYA BIBALAAGHIKAL HASANIL JAMIL.
b. Dua after taking Ghusl – Wearing Ehram:
I commence by the name of Allah and seek help from
Him. O Allah render this ghusl an illumination for me and

that it may purify me, protect me from all fears and be a
cure for all ills. O Allah! Purify me and my heart, broaden

my chest and that my tongue may utter words of love,
adoration and praise for You as there is no strength for
me but You and I know that my religion is submission to

You and following the practices of Your prophet, may
Your peace be on him
BISMILLAHI WABILLAHI ALLAHUMMAJALHU FII NURAN WATAHUZAN

WAHUZAN WAAMNAN MIN KULLI KHWAFIN WASHIFAAN MIN KULLI DAAIN
WASUQMIN. ALLAHUMMA TAHHIRNII WATAHII QALBII WASHRIHLII SADRII
WAAJRI ALAA LISAANII MAHABBATAKA WAMIDHATAKA WASSANAAA
ALAIKA FAINNAHU LAA QUWWATA LII ILLA BIKA WAQAD ALIMTU
ANNAQIWAAMA DIINII ALTASLIIMU LAKA WALITTIBAAU LISUNNATI
NABIYYIKA SALAWAATUKA ALAIHI WAALIHI.
3. When wearing the two clothes of Ehram recite this dua:

All praise to Allah who has graced me with clothes to
cover my body, perform my duties, worship my Sustainer

and reach where He has commanded me. All praise be to
Allah who, when I directed my course towards Him,

reached me; when I directed my intentions towards Him,
assisted me, drew me closer and did not shatter me;
when I sought His pleasure, granted me peace. He is my

fort, refuge, protector, support, hope, salvation, saviour
and my provider in times of hardship and comfort
AL-HAMDULILLAHI-LAZI RAZAQANI MA UWARII BIHI AWRATII WAUADDII

FIHI FARZII WA-AABUDU FIHI RABII WAANATAHI FIHI ILAA MAA
AMARANII. ALHAMDULILLAHI LAZII KASADTUHU FABAIGHNII WAARADTU
FAA-ANANII WAQABILANII WALAM YAKTA BI WAWAJHAHU ARADTU
FASALLAMANII FAHUWA HISNII WAKAHFII WAHIRZII WAZAHRII
WAMALAZII WALAJAII WAMANJAYA WADHUKRI WAUDDATII FIISHIDDATII
WARAKHAAII.
4.After having read a wajib or mustahab namaz for Ehram recite this dua:
O Allah! Include me among those who have responded

to Your call, have faith in Your promise and follow Your
command, for I am Your slave in Your confinement. I
cannot be saved, except by You and cannot take,

except what You grant. You have reminded us of Hajj.
I beseech you that You make me firm on Your book
and the practices of Your Prophet (s.a.w.). Grant me
strength where I am weak and that I may perform

what is incumbent on me with ease and health.
Include me among those whose arrival pleases You,
You are pleased with, You call by name and have

recorded. O Allah! I have traveled from far and have
spent my property to attain Your pleasure. O Allah!
Accomplish my hajj and Umrah. O Allah! In compliance

with Your book and the practice of Your Prophet (s.a.
w.), I intend to perform the Umrat-ut-Tamatu’ for Hajj.

If any impediment comes in my way, remove it by
Your power. O Allah! if I do not achieve the Hajj, I may

at least the Umrah. I forbid myself, for Your sake, my
hair, body, flesh, blood, bones, brain, my union with
my wife, clothes and perfume so that I may attain

Your pleasure and the Hereafter
ALLAHUMA INNI ASALUKA AN TAJALANII MIMMANI-STAJABA LAKA WA

AAMANA BIWAADIKA WATTABA AMRAKA FAINNI ABDUKA WAFII

QABZATIKA LAA AWFAA ILLA MAA WAFAITA WALAA AAKHUDHU ILLA MAA
AATAITAA WAQAD DHAKARATA-LHAJJA FAASALUKA AN TADHIMA LII
ALAIHI ALAA KITABIKA WASUNNATI NABIYYIKA SALAWATUKA ALAIHI
WAALIHI WATUQAWWIYANII ALAA MAA ZANGTU WATUSALLIMA LII
MANASIKII FII YUSRIN MINKA WAAFIYATIN WAJALANII MIN WAFDIKA-
LLAZII RAZAITA WASAMMAITA WAKATABA. ALLAHUMMA INNI KHARAJTU
MIN SHUQQATIN BAIIDATIN WAANFAQTU MALIYA-BTIGAA MARAZAATIK.
ALAHUMMA FATAMIM LII HAJATII WAUMRATII. ALLAHUMMA INNI URIIDU
LAMATTUA BILUMRATI ILA-IHAJJI ALA KITABIKA WASUNNATI NABIYYIKA
SALWATUKA ALAIHI WAALEHI FAIN ARAZA LII AARIZUN YAHBISUNJI
FAKHALLINII HAISU HABASTANII BIQADARIKA-LLAZII QADDARTA ALAYA.
ALLAHUMMA INLAM TAKUN HAJJATAN FAUMRATAN AHRAMA LAKA SHARI
WABASHARII WALAHMII WADAMII WAIDHAAMII WAMUKHI WAASABI
MINANISAAI WASSIYAABI WATTIBI ABTAGHII BIDHALIKA WAJHAKA
WADDARAL AAKHIRAT.
5.After this make niyyat of Ehram and then say Talabiya in the following manner:
I am present, O High, I am present. I am present, O one

who calls towards Heaven. I am present, I am present O
Forgiver of sins. I am present, I am present O One who

owns my presence. I am present, I am present O Mighty
and Generous. I am present, I am present O You who first
created and to whom all will return. I am present, I am
present O One who is free from want and to whom all turn
for their needs. I am present, I am present O who is feared

and to whom there is inclination. I am present I am
present, O true God. I am present O the One with Grace,
Excellence, Goodness and Beauty. I am present O one who

averts major calamities. I am present, I am present Your
servant and the son of Your servant. I am present I am
present O Generous, I am present
Then Say: I am present seeking closeness to You through

Muhammad and his progeny. I am present, I am present
for hajj (May peace be with you, O Prophet and may the
mercy and blessings of Allah be on you. In the name of
Allah and by Allah and by His wish. Peace be with with!
With the Prophets of Allah and His Messengers. Peace be

with with! With the Messenger of Allah. Peace be with with!
With Ibrahim, the friend of Allah and all praise is to Allah,
the Sustainer of the universes

c.Entering Haram ,seeing Kaaba , Hajr aswad
Dua for entering the Haram (Haram does not refer to Masjid-ul Haram but begins at a distance of nearly 3 miles before the
town of Mecca):-
O Allah! I beseech You in this holy place and in the

first of my ceremonies to accept my repentance,
forgive my sins and relieve me of the load on my back.

All praise be to Allah who helped me reach the Holy
House. O Allah! I bear witness to You that this is Your
Holy House which You have made a refuge for men, a
blessed place and a guide for the worlds. O Allah! I am
Your servant, this city is Your city and this House is
Your House. I have come here to seek Your mercy and

submit to You, following Your command and content
with Your arrangement of destiny. I ask as a beggar
fearful of Your punishment. O Allah! Open for me the

gates of Your mercy and keep me occupied in
obedience to You and seeking Your pleasure

ALLAHUMMA INNAKA QULTA FII KITABIKA WAQAWLAKAL HAQQU

WAADHINFINNASI BILHAJJI YAATUKA RIJAALAN WAALA KULLI ZAAMIRIIN
YAATIINA MIN KULLI FAJJIN AMIIQ. ALLAHUMA INNI ARJUU AN AKUUNU
MINUMAN AJAABA DAAWATAKA WAQAD JIITU MIN SHUQQATIN BAIIDATIN

7.Dua for entering Masjidul Haram. One must enter from Bab-us Salaam and recite the dua while standing near the pillars:
ASSALAMU ALIKA AYYUHA-NABIYU WARHMATULLAHI WABARAKATUHU.

BISMILLAHI WABILLAHI WAMASHAALAHU. ASSALAMU ALLA ANBIYAAILLAHI
WARUSULIHI – ASAALAMU ALAA RASULILAHI SALLALLAHU ALAIHI
WAALIHI. ASSALAM ALAA EBRAHIMA KHALILI-LLAHI WALHAMDULILLAHI
RABBIL – AALAMIN.

I commence by the Name of Allah, by Him, from Him,
towards Him, by His wish and on the following of the

Holy Messenger (s.a.w.). The Holy Names belong to
Allah. All praise is to Allah. Peace be with the Messenger
of Allah. Peace be with Muhammad, son of Abdullah.

Peace be with you, O Prophet of Allah and may the
mercy and blessings of Allah be with you. Peace be with

the Prophets of Allah and His Messengers. Peace be with
Ibrahim, the friend of the Merciful. Peace be with the

Prophets. All praise is to Allah, the Sustainer of the
universes. Peace be with us and on the virtuous servants
of Allah. O Allah! Send Your blessings on Muhammad

and his progeny, bestow on them Your benediction and
have mercy on them as Your blessed, sent benediction
and had mercy on Ibrahim and his progeny, You are

Praiseworthy and Glorious. O Allah! Bless Muhammad
and his progeny, Your servant and Messenger. O Allah!
Bless Ibrahim, Your friend and Your Prophets and
Messengers and bestow peace on them. Peace be with
the Messengers. All praise is to Allah, the Sustainer of

the universes. O Allah! Open for me the gates of Your
mercy. Keep me occupied in Your obedience and seeking
Your pleasure. Protect me that I guard my faith to my

last, Exalted is Your Praise. All praise to Allah who made
me one of His callers and visitors, attendants in His
Mosque and supplicants. O Allah! I am Your servant and
visitor to Your House. There are rights of callers over the
host and You are the best of the givers and the most
Generous. I beseech You, O Allah! O Merciful, You are
Allah, there is no God but You, You have no partner, for
You are One and on whom all depend. You were not
born and do not give birth and there is none like You.
Verily, Muhammad is Your servant and Messenger, may
Your blessings be on him and his Household. O

Magnanimous, O Generous, O Glorious, O Mighty, O
Generous, I beseech You that of the gifts You grant me

for visiting You, the first be the protection from the fire
of Hell

SANAAUWAJHIKA ALHAMDULILLAHI-LLAZII JAALANII MIN WAFDIHI
WAZUWAARIHI WAJAA-LANI MIMMAN YAAMURU MASAJIDAHU WAJAALANII
MIMMAN YUNAJIIHI. ALLAHUMMA INNI ABDUKA WAZAIRUKA FII BAITIKA
WAALLAA KULLI MAATIYYIN HAQQUN LIMAN ATAAHU WAZADAHU WAANTA

KHAIRU MAATIYYIN WAAKRAMU MAZURIN FAASALUKA YA ALLAH YA

RAHMAN BIANNAKA ANTA-LLAHU LAILAHA ILLA ANTA WAHDAKA LAA
SHARIKA LAKA WABIANNAKA WAAHIDUN AHADUN SAMADUN LAM YALID
WALAM YULAD WALAM YAKULLAHU KUFUWAN AHAD WAANA
MUHAMMADAN ABDUKA WARASULUKA SALLALLAHU ALIHI WAALAA
AHLIBAITIHII YA JAWADU YAA KAIMU YA MAJIDU YA JABBARU YA KAIMU
ASALUKA ANTAJAALA TUHFATAKA IYYAYA BIZIYARATII IYYAKA AWWALA
SHAIIN TUUTIMII FAKAKA RAKABATII MINANNARI.
One must then pray for the Holy Prophet and his progeny and for all the Prophets as was done at the time of entry into the Holy
Mosque. Then say:
Then say this 3 times:
O Allah! Save my neck from the fire of Hell
And then recite this:
And increase my lawful and pure sustenance and protect

me from the evil of the devils, jinn and men and the
godless of the Arabs and the non-Arabs
ALLAHUMMA FUKKA RAKABATIL MINNANAR.
And then recite this:
ALAHUMMA WAAWSIA ALAYYA MINRIZQIKAL HALALITTAYYIBI WADRA

ANNII SHARRA SHAYATIINIL INSI WALJINNI WASHARRA FASAQATIL ARABI
WALAJAMI.
Now enter the mosque and say as follows:
Bismillahi wabillahi waalaa millati resulillahi sallallahu alaihi waalihi.
8.The face Khana-e-Kaaba and raise both the hands and recite the following:

ALLAHUMA INII ASALUKA FII MAQAMII HAZAA WAFII AWWALI MANASIKII

AN TAQBALA TAWBATILL WAAN TAJAWAZ AN KAHATIATII WAAN TAZAA
ANII WIZRIIL HAMDULILLAHIL-LAZII BALLAGHANII BAITAHUL HARAMA.
ALLAHUMMA INNI USHHIDUKA ANNA HAZE BAITUKA HARAM-UL –LAZII
JALTAAHU MASABATAN LINNASI WAAMNAN MUBARAKAN
WAHUDANLILAALAMIN. ALLAHUMMAL ABDU ABDUKA WALBALADU
BALADUKA WAL-BAITU BAITUKA JIATU ATLUBU RAHMATAKA WAAUMMU
TAATAKA MUTIIAN LIAMRIKA RAZIYAN BIQADRIKA ASALUKA MASALATAL
FAQIRI ILAIKAL KHAIFI LIUQUBATIKA. ALLAHUMMAFTAH LII ABWABA
RAHMATIKA WASTAAMILNII BITAATIKA WAMAZATIKA
It is recommended then to face the Black Stone and say: (I bear witness that there is no God but Allah,
He is One and has no partner and the Muhammad is his servant and Messenger. I believe in Allah and
disbelieve in false gods, Laat, Uzza and the worship of devils and all those who call for worship other
than Allah).
Then invoke the Kaaba and say this:

ALLAMDULILLAHIL-LAZIL AZZAMAKI WASHARRAFAKI WAKARRAMAKI

WAJAALAKI MASABATAN LINNASI WAAMNAN MUBARAKAN WAHUDAL
LILLAAMIN.
9. And when one sees the Hajar-e-Aswad one should say as follows:
A praise to Allah who has provided us this guidance, for

we would not otherwise have been guided. Glory to
Allah, all praise is due to Him, there is no God except
Allah and Allah is Great. Allah is greater than His

creatures. Allah is greater than whom I fear and
beware. There is no God except Allah, He is One and
without any partner. All land belong to Him and all

praise is due to Him. He grants life and ends it. He
ends life and grants it. He is alive and never dies. All
good emanates from Him and has power over all things

ALHAMDULLILAHI-LAZII HADANA LIHAZAA WAMA KUNNA LINAHTADIYA

LAWLAA AN HADAANALLAHU SUBHANALLAHI WALHAMDULILLAHI
WALAAILAHA ILLALAHU WALLAHU AKBER ALLAHU AKBERU MIN KHAQIHI
WALLAHU AKBERU MIMMA AKHSHAA WAAHZARU LAAILAHA ILLALLAHU
WAHDAHU LAA SHARIKALAHU LAHUL MULKU WALAHUL HAMDU YUHYII
WAYUMITU WAYUMITU WAYUHYII WAHUWA HAYYU LAA YAMUTU BIYADIHIL
KHAIRU WAHUWA ALAA KULLI SHAIIN QADIR. ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALAA
MUHAMMAD KAAFZALI MA SALLAITA WABARAKTA WATARAHAMTA ALAA
JAMIIN-NABIYYINA WALMURSALINA WALHAMDULILLAHI RABBIL AALAMIN.
ALLAHUMMA INNII UAMINU BIWAADIKA WAUSADDIQU RUSULAKA
WATTABIU KITABIKA.
After his, keeping the thought of Allah’s wrath in mind slowly proceed forward and on reaching Hajar-e Aswad raise both
hands and praise Almighty Allah and recite salwaat on His Prophet Mohamed (S.A.W.) and his progeny and then recite the
following:
ALLAHUMMA TAQABBAL MINII.
If possible kiss Hajar-e-Aswad and if not, point at it and recite this: It has been authentically reported by Abi Abdillah (a.s.)
that when you come close to the Black Stone, raise your hands, praise Allah, pray for the Holy Prophet and ask Allah to accept
your acts of worship. Then hold the Black Stone and kiss it. If it is not possible to kiss it, just hold it by hand, and if even doing
so is not possible, point at it and say
O Allah! I have discharged the trust reposed with me and

fulfilled my promise so that You can be witness of my
fulfillment. O Allah! I have brought faith in Your Book and
the practices of Your Prophet (s.a.w.). I bear witness that

there is no God except Allah, He is One and has no partner
and that Muhammad is his servant and Messenger. I have

faith in Allah and disbelieve in false gods, Laat and Uzza,
the worship of devils, and all those who call for worship
other than Allah
ALLAHUMMA AMANATII ADDAITUHA WAMIISAKII TAAHADTUHU

LITASHAADA LII BILMUWAAFATI-ALLAHUMMA TASDIQAN BIKITABIKA
WALAA SUNATI NABIYYIKA SALWATUKA ALAIHI WAALIHI ASHHADU AN LAA
ILAHA-ILLALLAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHARIKA LAHU WAASHAADU ANNA
MUHAMMADAN ABDUHU WARASULUHU AAMANTU BILLAHI WAKAFARTU
BILJIBTI WATTAGHUTI WALLAATI WALUZZA WAIBADATI-SSHAITANI
WAIBADATI KULLI NIDDIN YUDAA MIN DUNILLAHI.

O Allah! I have extended my hands towards You and have
great expectations from You. Accept my endeavours,

forgive me and shower mercy on me. O Allah! I seek
refuge from infidelity, poverty and disgrace in this world
and in the Hereafter
ALLAHUMMA ILAIKA BASATTU YADAA MIN DUNILLAHI. ALLAHUMMA ILAIKA

BASATTU YADII WAFIIMA INDAKA AZUMAT RAGHBATTI FAAQBAL SABHATII
WAGHFIRLII WARHAMNII. ALLAHUMMA INNII AUZUBIKA MINAL KUFRI
WALFAQRI WAMAWAAQIFIL KHIZYI FIDUUNIYA WALAAKHIRAT.
If it is not possible to say the whole of the above supplication, a portion of it may be said and then say:
d)DUAS DURING TAWAF
Seperate Duas for each of the seven rounds
It has been reported from Muawiyah bin Ammar, quoting Abi Abdillah (a.s.), as saying that, during
tawaf, the following supplication be said:
O Allah! I beseech You by Your name which makes

possible motion in the darkness of water as it does on
land. I beseech You by Your Name which makes Your

Arsh (Throne) swing. I beseech You by Your Name
which puts in motion the feet of Your angels. I beseech
You by Your name by which Moosa (Moses) supplicated
to You on Mount Sinai and You granted his supplication
and met him with love. I beseech You by Your name by

which You granted forgiveness to Muhammad of his
past and future sins and completed Your bounty on
him, treat me with (ask for your wishes

ALLAHUMMA INNII ASALUKA BISMIKALLAZII YUMSHAA BIHI ALAA ZULALIL

MAAI KAMA YUMSHAA BIHI ALAA JUDADIL ARZI WASALUKA BISMIKAL
LAZII TAHTAZUU LAHU AQDAAMU MALAIKATIKA WAASALUKU
BISMIKALLZII DAAKA BIHI MUSA MIN JANIBI-TTURI FASTAJABTA LAHU
WAAALQAITA ALAIHI MAHABBATAN MINKA WAASALUKA BISMIKALLAZII
GHAFARTA BIHI LI-MUHAMMADIN SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WAALIHI MAA
TAQADDAMA MIN DHANBIHI WAMAA TAAKHARA WAATMAMTA ALAIHI
NIIMATAKA AN TAFAL BII.
When You reach the gate of the Holy Ka’ba, pray for Muhammad and his holy progeny (a.s.) and say
between Rukn-ul-Yamaani and the Black Stone: O Allah! grant me goodness in this world and the
Hereafter and save me from the fire of Hell).
During tawaf, on reaching the door of the Kaaba in each circumambulation (round) recite this dua
commencing with salwaat:
SAAILUKA FAQIIRUKA MISKIINUKA BIBAABIKA FATASADDAG ALAIHI

BILJANNATI. ALLAHUMMA ALBAITU BAITUKA WALHARAMU HARAMUKA
WALABDU ABDUKA WAHADHAA MAQAAMUL AAIDHIBIKAL MUSTAJIIRI BIKA
MINANNARI FAATIQNII WAWAALIDAIYA WAAHLII WAWULDIYA
WAIKHWANIYAL MUMININA MINANNARI YAA JAWADUU YA KARIMU.
And say during tawaf:
I am in need for Your mercy, fearful and seeking Your

refuge. Do not change my body or my name
ALLAHUMMA INNII ILAIKA FAQIIRUN WAINNI KHAIFUN MUSTAJIIRUN

FALAA TUGHAIYIR JISMII WALAA TABADDIL ISMII.
Imam Sadiq (a.s.) has said that when Ali bin Hussein (a.s.) reached the Hijr (enclosure) of Ismail (a.
s.) before reaching the Meezaab, he would raise his head and say while looking at the Meezaah:

O Allah! place me in Heaven by Your mercy, save me,
by Your mercy, from the fire, protect me from evil,

increase for me lawful sustenance, and save me from
the viciousness of the jinn, men, Arabs and non-Arabs
ALLAHUMMA ADKHILNIIL JANNATA WA AJIRNII MINANNARI BIRAHMATIKA

WAAFINII MINNASUQMI WAAWSIA ALAYYA MIARRIZKIL HALALI WADRA
ANNII SHARRA FASAQATIL JINNI WALINSI WASHARAA FASAQATIL ARABI
WALAJAMI.
It has been authentically reported from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) that when You reach the back of the Holy
Ka’ba having passed the Hijr (enclosure), say:
O one of bounty, might, generosity and nobility, my

devotions are weak, make them stronger and accept
them from me, verily You are All-Hearing, All-knowing
YADHAL MANNI WATTAWLI YADHAL JUDI WALKARIMI INNA AMALIL

ZAIIFUN FAZAAIFAHU LII WATAQABBALHU MINNII INNAKA ANTUS-SAMIIUL
ALIIM.
It has been reported from Abul Hassan Ridha (a.s.) that on reaching the Rukn-ul-Yamaani, one should
raise hands in supplication and say:
O Allah! O Controller of health and its Provider, One who
grants it, One who bestows it as a reward or as a grace

on me and all creation, O Merciful in this world and the
Hereafter, shower Muhammad and his progeny with Your
blessings, grant me health, lasting and complete and

thankfulness for it, in this world and in the Hereafter, by
Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
YA ALLAHU YA WALIYYUL AAFIYAT WARAZIQAL AAFIYAT WALMUNIMU

BILAAFIYATI WALMUTAFAZZALAL BILAAFIYATI ALAYYA WAALAA JAMIIE
KHALQIKA YA RAHMANA-DDUNIYA WALAAKHIRATI
WARAHIIMAHUMMA’SALLI ALAA MUHAMMADIN WAALI MUHAMAD
WARZUQNAL AAFIYATA WATAMAMAL AAFIYATI WASHUKRAL AAFIYATI
FIDDUNIYA WALAAKHIRATI YA ARHAMARRAHIMIN.
It has been reported from Abi Adillah (a.s.) that when the pilgrim completes the tawaf and reaches the
‘Mustajaar’ which is a little before the Rukn-ul-Yamaani, he must stretch his hands onto the Holy Ka’ba,
cling to it and say:
(O Allah! this House is Yours and this creature is Yours and this is the place for taking refuge in You
from the fire of Hell).
Then make confession of your sins for there is no faithful who makes confessions to his Lord in
this place without Allah forgiving him, Allah willing, and say:
(O Allah! comfort, success and health come form You. O Allah! my devotions are weak and so grant
them strength and forgive me the sins which are so apparent to You but concealed from Your

creatures).
Then seek refuge in Allah from the fire of Hell and engross yourself in supplication. Then hold the Rukn-
ul-Yamaani as is stated in another report from him (a.s.). Then kiss the Rukn-ul-Yamaani and the
corner where the Black Stone is placed and say:
(O Allah! grant me contentment in the sustenance You have provided me and bestow Your blessings on
it).
It is recommended to hold on to each corner of the Holy Ka’ba in each tawaf and when holding the
Black Stone say:
(I have discharged the trust reposed with me and fulfilled my promise so that You can be the witness of
my fulfillment).
Then facing the front of Kaaba raising the hands say this:
ALHAMDULLAHIL LAZII SHARRAFKI WAAZZAMAKI WALHAMDULLILLAHIIL

LAZII BAASA MUHAMMADAN NABIYYAN WAJAALA ALLIYUN IMAMAN.
ALLAHUMMAHDI LAHU KHIYARA KHALQIKA WAJANNIBHU SHIRAARA
KHALKIQA.
Read the following between Rukh-e-Yamaani and Hajar-e-Aswad:
RABBANA AATINA FIDDUNIYA HASANATAN WAFILAKHERATI HASANATAN

WAQINA ADHABANNAR.
In the 7th round t Mustajar (behind Kaaba and a little before Rukh-e-Yamaani.) One must stop a little and spread both the
hands on the walls of Kaaba and with the face and body touching the wall, should say the following dua:
ALLAHUMA ALBAITU BAITUKA WALABDU ABDUKA WAHADHAA MAQQAMUL

AAIDHI BIKA MINNANNARI. ALLAHUMA MIN QIBALIKA-RRAWHU
WALFARAJU WALAAFIYAUTU. ALLAHUMA INNA AMALII ZAIIFUN FAZAIFHU
LII WAGHFIRILII MATTALATA ALAIHI MINNI WAKHAFIYA ALAA KHALQIKA
ASTAJIIRU BILLAHI MINNANAR. ALLAHUMA INNA INDII AFWAJAN MIN
DHUNUBIN WAAFWWAJAN MIN KHATAYAA WA INDAKA AFWAAJUN MIN
RAHMATIN WAAFWAAJUN MIN MAGHFIRATIN YA MANISTAJABA LIABGHAZI
KHALQHI IDH QALA ANZIRNII ILAA YAWMI YABASUUNA ISTAJIBLII.
Here one must ask for personal hajaats confess ones sins, etc.
And on reaching Hajar-e-Aswad suppkicate the following:
ALLAHYMA QANNINII BIMA RAZAQTANII WABARIKLII FIIMA AATAITANII.
COURTESIES OF TAWAF PRAYER
In tawaf prayer, it is recommended that after the recitation of the Chapter of Fatihah, in the first raka’a be said the

Chapter of Tawheed and in the second raka’a the Chapter of Kafiroon. On completion of the prayer, one must praise Allah, pray
for Muhammad and his progeny (a.s.) and pray for the acceptance of one’s efforts.
On completing Namaz-e-tawaf say this:
ALLAHUMA TAQABBAL MINII WALAA TAJALHU AAKHIRAL AHDI MINII. ALHAMDUHLILLAHI

BIMAHAMIDIHI KULLIHAA ALAA NAMAAIHA KULLIHAA HATTAA YANTAHIYAL HAMDU ILAAMAA
YUHIBBU WAYAZAA. ALLAHUMMA SALLLI ALAA MUHAMMADIN WAALI MUHAMMADIN WATAQABBAL
MINII WATAHHIR QALBI WAZAKKI AMALII. ALLAHUMMA-RHAMNII BITAATIL IYYAKA WATAATII
RASULIKA SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WAALIHI. ALLAHUMMA JANNA-BNII AN ATAADAA HUDUUDAKA
WAJAALNII MIMMAN YUHIBBUKA WAYUHIBBU RASULAKAA KA SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WAALIHI
WAMALAAIKATIKA WAIBADIKASSALIHIN.
It has been reported from Imam as-Sadiq (a.s.) that he would say in sajdah after the prayer the following:
SAJADA LAKA WAJHII TAABBUDAN WARIZQAN LAA ILAHA ANTA HAQQAN HAQQA. ALAWW-ALU
QABLA KULLI SHAIIN WALAAKJIRU BAADA KULLI SHAIIN WAHAA AND DHABAINA YADAI-KA
NAASIYATII BIYADIKA FAGHFILLII INNAHU LAA YAGHFUU – DHANBAL AZIIM GHAIRUKAFAGHFIRLII
FAINII MUQIRRUN BIDHUNUBII ALAA NAFSII WALAA YADFAU-DHANBAL AZUMAGHAIRUK
prostate myself before You in worship and service. It is the truth that there is no God except You. You were there before
anything and will be there after everything perishes. I am before You and my forelock is in Your hands. Forgive my sins for there
is none to forgive major sins except You. Forgive me as I confess my sins against myself and none can avert cardinal sins except
You).
It is recommended to drink water from Zamzam before departing to Safa and say:
(O Allah! grant me useful knowledge, abundant sustenance and spare me all sickness and evil).
If possible, on completing the prayer after tawaf, one should draw a bucket or two of water from Zamzam, drink a little
and pour a little on the head, back and body and say the supplication mentioned above. Then one must proceed to the Black
Stone and from there to Safa.
COURTESIES IN SA’Y
Seperate duas for each of the rounds of Saee
It is recommended to depart to Safa, with peace and serenity, by the door facing the Black Stone. On arrival, one must look at
the Holy Ka’ba and concentrate on the corner with the Black Stone, praise Allah, narrate His bounties, chant Allahu Akbar, Al-
Hamdulillah and La ilaha ilallah (seven times each), and then say thrice:
There is no God except Allah, He is One without any partner. All property belongs to Him and all praise is due to Him. He gives
life and takes it away; He has always been alive and will never die. All goodness emanates from Him and He is powerful over all
things).
And 3 times:
LAAAILAHA ILLALLAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHARIKA LAHU, LAHULMULKU WALAHULHAMDU YUHII

WAYUMIITU WAYUHII WAHUWA HAYYUN LAA YAMUTU WAHUWA ALAA KULLI SHAIIN QADIR.
Then read salwaat 3 times and read the following also 3 times:

ALLAHU AKBERU ALAA MAA HADAANA. ALHAMDUHLILLAHI ALAA MAA AWLANA WALHUMDULILLAHIL
HAYYIL QAAYYUMI WALHAMDULLAHIL HAYYI-DDAIMI.
Allah is Great: He has granted us guidance. All praise is to Allah; He has showered us with bounties. All
praise to Allah who is Living and Eternal and all praise is ever due to Him). )
And then 3 times:
ASHHADU AN LAA ILAHA ILLALLAHU WAASH-HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAN ABDUHU WARASULUHU

LAA NAABUDU ILLA IYYAHU MUKHLISHIINA LAHU-DDINA WALAWKARIHAL MUSHRIKUN.
(I bear witness that there is no God except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and
Messenger. We do not worship anyone except Him, sincere in our faith, however averse may the
polytheists be
And this 3 times:
ALLAHUMMA INNI ASALUKAL AFWA WALAAFIYATA WALYAQIINA FIDDUNIYA WALAAKHIRATI. O

Allah! I beseech You for forgiveness, health, and firmness in faith in this world and the Hereafter
Say this 3 times:
ALLAHUMMA AATINA FIDDUNIYA HASANATAN WAFIL AAKHIRATI HASANATAN WAQINA

ADHABANNAR. O Allah! grant us the virtues of this world and the Hereafter and spare us the fire of Hell
Then say this one hundred (100) times:
ALLAHU AKBER – 100 times

LA ILAHA ILLALLAH – 100 times
ALHAMDULILLAH - 100 times
SUBHANALLAH - 100 times
Then recite this:
LA ILAHA ILLALAAHU WAHDAHU WAHDAHU ANJAZA WAADAHU WANASARA ABDAHU WAGHALABAL

AHZABI WAHDAHU FALAHU MULKU WALAHUL HAMDU WAHDAHU. ALLAHUMMA BARIK LII FILMAWTI
WAFIIMA BAADAL MAWTI. ALLAHUMMA INNII AUDHUBIKA MIN ZULMATIL QABRI WAHSHATIHI.
ALLAHUMMA AZILLINII FII ZILLI ARSHIKA YAWMA LAA ZILLA ILLA ZILLUKA.
There is no God but Allah, He is only One, He has accomplished His promise, He has helped His servant

and singly overpowered the groups of infidels. All property belongs to Him and all praise is due to Him,
Him alone. O Allah! bless my death and what happens after it. O Allah! I seek refuge from the darkness
and loneliness of the grave. O Allah! grant me shelter under the shade of Your Throne on the day when
there will be no shelter except Yours).
And the read this:
ASTAWDIULLAHA ARRAHMANARRAHIMA ALLAZII LAA TAZIIU WADAAIUHU DIINII WANAFSII

WAAHLII WAMALII WAWULDII. ALLAHUMMA-STAAMILNII ALAA KITABIKA WASUNNATI NABIYYIKA
WATAWAFFANII ALAA MILLATIHI WAAFIDHNII MINAL FITNATI
.I leave my religion, myself and family in the hands of Allah, the Merciful, the Beneficent, who does not
let anything deposited with him to be lost. O Allah! keep me steadfast in following Your Book and the
practices of Your Prophet, keep me among his followers until my death and save me from dissension)
And then 3 times: ALLAHU AKBER and repeat the above supplication twice. Then chant takbeer and repeat the supplication. If
it is not possible to perform all this, one may say a portion of it
It has been reported from Imam Ali (a.s.) that when one climbs the Safa, one must face the Holy Ka’ba, raise one’s hands in
supplication and say:
ALLAHUMAAGHFIRLII KULLI DHANBIN ADHNABTUHU QATTU FAIN UDTU FAUD ALAIYYA

BILMAGHFIRATI FAINNAKA IN TAFAL BII MAA ANTA AHLUHU TARHAMNII WAIN TUADHIIBNI
FAANTA GHANIYYUN AN ADHABII WAANA MUHTAAJUN ILAA RAHMATIHI IRHAMNII WALA TAFAL BII
MAA ANA AHLUHU FAINNAKA IN TAFAL BII-MAA ANA AHLUHU TUADDHIBNII WALAM TAZLIMNII
ASBAHTU ATTAQII ADLAKA WALA AKHAAFU JAWRAKA FAYAMAN HUWA ADLUN LAA YAHUURU
IRHAMNII-YAMAN LAA YAJIIBU SAAILUHU WALA YANFADU NAAILUHU SALLI ALAA MUHAMMADIN
WAALI MUHAMMADIN WA AIDHNII MINANNARI BIRAHMATIKA
.(O Allah! forgive all my sins whenever I may have committed them and if I repeat them, forgive me
again, for You are Forgiving and Merciful. O Allah! deal with me as it befits You and if You would do so,
You would have mercy on me. You are free from any need to punish me but I am in need of Your
mercy, have mercy on me
O Allah! do not deal with me as I deserve, for if You do so, You will punish me without being unjust to
me. I fear Your justice but have no fear of injustice from You. O One who is absolutely Just, have mercy
on me
On the 4th step facing Kaaba recite the following duas:
ALLAHUMMA INNII AUDHUBIKA MIN ADHABIL QABRI WAFITNATIHI WAGHURBATIHI WA

WAHSHATIHI WAZULMATIHI WAZIIQIHI WAZANKIHI. ALLAHUMMA AZILLINII FII ZILLI ARSHIKA
YAWMA LAA ZILLA ILLA ZILLUKA
On the bottom step exposing (remove cloth from the back) say this:
YA RABBAL AFWI, YA MAN AMARA BILAFWI YA MAN YUSIIBU ALAAL AFWI, ALAFWA ALAFWA
ALAFWA. YA JAWADU YA KARIMU YA KARIMU YA KARIMU YA KARIMU YA BAIIDU URDUD ALAIYA

NIAMATIKA WASSSTAAMILNII BITAATIKA WAMARZAATIKA.
It has been reported from Abi Adillah (a.s.) that if one seeks to increase one’s wealth, one should wuqufat Safa longer. It is
recommended to perform the sa’y by walking in peace and dignity. When men reach the first minaret, they should hasten the
pace till the location of the second minaret. There is no such recommendation for women. Then one should continue to walk with
peace and awe till one arrives at Marwah where one should repeat what was done at Safa and return from Marwah to Safa in the
same manner.
When reaching the Minara of Haarwalla (green pillar) recite the following:
BISMILLAHI WABILLAHI WAKKAHU AKBER WASALLALLAHU ALAA MUHAMMADIN WAAHLI BAITIHI.

ALLAHUMMA IGHFIR WARHAM WATAJAWAZ AMMA TAALAMU INNAKA ANTAL AAZUL AKRAM
WAHDINII LILLATII HIYA AQWAMU. ALLAHUMMA INNA AMALII ZAIIFUN FAZAAIFHU LII
WATAQABBAL MINNII. ALLAHUMMA LAKA SAAYII WABIKA HAWLII WAQUWWATII WATAQABBAL
MINNII AMALII YAMAN YAQBALU AMALAMUTTAQIIN.
On going beyond the second (green) pillar say the following:
YADHA MANII WALFAZLI WALKARAMI WANAAMAAI WALJUUDI IGHFIRLII DHUNUBII INNAHU LAA
YAGHFIRUDDHUNUBA ILLA ANTA.
And on reaching Marwa (hill) recite all the duas which have been mentioned for Safaa and say this dua too:
ALLAHUMMA YAMAN AMARA BILAFWI YAMAN YUHIBBUL AFWA YA MAN YUATII ALAAL AFWI YAMAN
YAAFUU ALAAL AFWI YA RABBAL AFWA ALAFWAL ALAFWA.
During Saee one must cry and recite this throughout:
ALLAHUMMA INNII ASALUKA HUSNA-ZZANI BIKA ALAA KULLI HAALIN WASIDKAN-NIYAATI

FITTAWAKKULI ALAIKA.
At the well of Zam Zam after puring water on the face and back and drinking it recite this:
ALLAHUMMAJALHU ILMAN NAAFIAN WARIZKAN WAASIAN WASHIFAAN MIN KULLI DAAIN

WASUQMIN.
After this one should go to perform Saee and at Safaa (Hill) facing Khana-e-kaaba say 7 times:
Laa ilaha illallah.
COURTESIES IN IHRAM DURING WUQUF AT ARAFAT

Whatever has been stated above in respect of the courtesies in a state of ihram during Umrah, apply equally to a state of ihram
in Hajj.
After wearing the Ehram for Hajj when one leaves for Arafat, then on nearing Mina recite the following:
ALLAHUMMA IYYAKA ARJUU WAIYYAKA ADUU FABALLIGHNI AMALII ASLIH LII AMALII.
On the way one must busy oneself doing tasbeeh and zikr of Allah and on arriving at Mina say the following dua:
ALLAHUMDULILLAHIL-LAZII AQDA MANIIHA SAALIHAN FII AAFIYATIN WABALLAGHANII HADHAL

MAKANA. ALLAHUMMA HADHIHI MINAA WAHIYA MIMMA MANANTA BIHI ALAINA MINAL MANASIKI
FAASALUKA AN TAMUNNA ALAIYYA BIMA MANANTA ALAA ANBIYAAIKA FAINNAMA ANA ABDUKA
WAFII QABZATIKA.
And then on proceeding towards Arafat read this dua:
ALLAHUMMA ILAIKA SAMADTU WAIYYAKA-ATAMADTU WAWAJHAKA ARADTU ASALUKA AN

TABARIKA LII FII RIHLATII WATAQZIYA LII HAAJATII WAAN TAJAALANII MIMMAN TUBAHII BIHIL
YAWMA MAN HUWA AFZALU MINNII.
When one has worn the ihram for hajj and departed from Makkah, one must say the Talbiyah on the
way but not in a loud voice till one reaches Abtah when it must be said aloud. When one heads for
Mina, one should say:(O Allah! I place all my hopes in You and supplicate to You. Fulfill my hopes and
put my actions in order).
Then proceed to Mina peacefully and with respect, engrossed in remembrance of Allah; on reaching
there, say:(All praise is due to Allah who brought me to Mina in sound health and got me thus far).
Then say:(O Allah! this is Mina where You have graced us with performance of ceremonies. I beseech
You for the grace You have bestowed on Your Prophets, for I am one of your servants and in Your
power).
It is recommended that the eve of Arafat be spent in Mina in worship; its preferred form is prayer in the
Mosque at Kheef. After dawn, one must continue in prayer till sunrise and then move to Arafat. There is
no objection to departing from Mina before sunrise. When one turns to Arafat, one should say:
(O Allah! I turn to You, repose trust in You and seek Your pleasure. I beseech You to bless my journey,
fulfill my wishes and include me among those superior to me whom You honour today).
one should say the Talbiyah till one reaches Arafat.
COURTESIES OF WUQUF AT ARAFAT
A number of matters have been recommended during the wuquf (stay) at Arafat and some of them are:
1) Cleanlines (taharah) during the stay.(2) Ghusl at zawaal.(3) Continuous supplication and
remembrance of Allah.(4) Wuqufon the flat land to the left of the mountain.(5) Joining the two prayer
of Dhuhr and Asr with one adhan and two iqamaas (6) Recitation of supplication, the most famous of
which is ones attributed to Imam Hussain (a.s.) and his son Imam Zainul Abideen (a.s.) which will be
set out.

It has been authentically reported from Mu’awiyah bin Ammar that Abi Abdillah (a.s.) stated,
“Hasten to your prayer and gather yourselves to indulge in supplications for it is a day of supplications
and prayer. Then find yourself a place where you can have peace, and with solemnity praise and glorify
the Oneness of Allah. Recite the Allahu Aakbar a hundred times, the Alhamda Lillah a hundred times,
Subhanallah a hundred times. Then recite the Chapter of Ikhlas a hundred times, followed by
supplications of your choice.
One must make great effort to indulge in worship for it is a day for supplications and seeking
refuge with Allah from Shaitan (Satan) who does not spare opportunity to divert your attention,
especially on that day. One must not engage in looking at others, but be concerned with oneself and
day:
ALLAHUMA INNII ABDUKA FALA TAJAALNII MIN AKHYABI WAFDIKA WARHAM MASIIRII ILAIKA
MINAL FAJJIL AMLIQ. ALLAHUMA RABBAL MASHAAIRI KULIIHA FUKKA RAQABATII MINANNARI
WAAWSIA ALAIYYA MIN RIZQIKAL HALALI WADRAA ANNII SHARRA FASAQATIL JINNI WALINSI.
ALLAHUMMA LATAMKUR BII WALA TAKHDAANII WALA TASTADRIJNII. ALLAHUMMA INNI ASALUKA
BIHAWLIKA WAJUDIKA WAKARAMIKA WAMANNIKA WAFAZLIKA. YA ASMAASSAMIIN. YA ABSARAN-
NAZRIIN. YA ASRAAL HAASIBIN. YA ARHAMARRAHIMIN. AN TUSALLI ALAA MUHAMADIN WAALI
MUHAMMADIN WAAN TAFALBII.
O Allah! I am Your servant. Do not include among those who do not hope to be close to You.
Have mercy on my having traveled to You from far-flung nook.O Allah! the Sustainer of all the places
for the ceremonies. Spare me the fire of Hell, increase my sustenance from lawful sources and keep me
away from harm, from the evil ones among the jinn and mankind.O Allah! I ask You by Your power,
generosity, charity, favour and bestowal, O the Best of the Listeners, the Greatest of those who see, the
Quickest in taking account and the most Merciful of the merciful, shower Muhammad and his progeny
with Your blessings and grant me (and then ask your wishes).
Then, raising your head towards the sky, say:
ALLAHUMMA HAAJATII ILAIKAL-LATII IN AATAITANIIHA LAM YAZURRANII MAA MAHAATA WAIN

MANAATANIHA LAM YANFAANII MAA AATAITA ASALUKA KHALAASA RAQABATI MINANAAR.
ALLAHUMMA INNII ABDUKA WAMILKU YADIKA NASIYATII BIYADIKA WAAJALII BIILMIKA ASALUKA
AN TUWAFFIQANII LIMA YURZIIKA ANNIIWAAN TUSALLIMA MINII MANASIKIYAL-LATII ARAITAHA
KHALILAKA EBRAHIMA SALWATULLAHI ALAIHI WADALALTA ALAIHA NABIYYAKA MUHAMMADIN
SALLALAHU ALAIHI WAALIHI. ALLHUMMAJALNII MIMMAN RAZAITA AMALAHU WAATALATA UMRAHU
WAAHYAITAHU BAADAL MAWTI HAYAATAN TAYYIBATAL LAA ILAHA ILLALLAHU WAHDAHU LAA
SHARIKALAHU LAHUL MULKU WALAHUL HAMDU YUHHYII WAYUMIITU WAHUWA HAYYUN LAA
YAMUUTU BIYADIHIL KHAIRU WAHUWA ALAA KULLI SHAIIN QADIR. ALLAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU
KALLADHI TAQUULU WAKHAIRAN MIMMA NAQUULU WAFAWQA MA YAQUULUL QAAILUUN.
ALLAHUMMA LAKA SALAATII WANUSUKII MAMAHYAYA WAMAMAMTII WALAKA TURAASI WABIKA
HAWLII WAMINKA QUWWATI. ALLAHUMA INNII AUDHUBIKA MINAL FAQRI WAMIN ADHABI QABRI.
ALLAHUMMA INNII ASALUKA KHAIRARRIYAAHI WAAUDHUBIKA MIN SHARRI MAA TAJIIU BIHI-
RRIYAHU FAASALUKA KHAIRALLAILI WAKHAIRANNAHAR. ALLAHUMA AJAL FII QALBII NUURAN
WAFII SAMEL NUURAN WAFII BASARII NUURAN WAFII LAHMII WADAMII WAIZAAMII WAURUUQII
WAMAQADII WAMAQADII WAMADHAKALII WAMAKHARAJII NUURAN WA-AAZIMLII NUURAN YA
RABBI YAWMA ALQAAKA INNAKA ALAA KULLI SHAIIN QADIIR.
O Allah! I have a wish which if You grant will not affect what You have refused me but if You reject
that wish, I will not benefit from anything else You grant me. I pray to You to spare me the fire of Hell).
O Allah! I am Your slave and belong to You, my forelock is in Your hands, my destiny is in the domain
of Your knowledge. I seek that I do what would please You and accept from me the performance of the
rituals which You showed to Your friend, Ibrahim (a.s.), and, by them, guided Your Prophet Muhammad
(s.a.w.). O Allah! include me among those whose actions have pleased You, whose lives You have
elongated and granted them life after death pure lives).
Then say the following supplication taught by the Holy Messenger (s.a.w.) to Ali (a.s.) as reported by

Muawiyah bin Ammar from Abi Abdillah (a.s.):
WALLAHU AKBERU WAMA SHAALLAHU LAA QUWWATA ILLAA BILLAHI ASHHADUAN LAA ILAHA
ILLALLAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHARIKA LAHU LAHUL MULKUL WALAHUL HAMDU YUHYII WAYUMIITU
WAHUWA HAYYUN LAA YAMUUTU BIYADIHIL KHAIRU WAHUWA ALAA KULLI SHAIIN QADIR.
There is no God but Allah, He is One without any partner. Al properly belongs to Him, all praise is due
to Him. He grants life and death and death and life. He is eternally living and does not die. All good is in
his hands and He has power over all things. All praise is due to You as You state, for what You state is
better than any other statement. O Allah! my prayer, worship, living and death are for You. All the
power with me is from You and all my strength is from You.
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from poverty, wicked intentions, adversity of affairs, the fire of Hell and
the torments of the grave. O Allah! I seek from You the goodness that comes from the wind, and seek
refuge from the evil caused by the wind, and the goodness from the day and night).
Among the supplications reported by Abdullah bin Maymoon from Abi Abdillah (a.s.) is that, during his
wuqufin Arafat, the Holy Messenger (s.a.w.) used to say at the time of sunset before departure:
ALLAHUMMA INNII AUDHUBIKA MINAL FAQRI WAMIN TASHATTUTIL AMRI WAMIN SHARRI MAA
YAHDISU BILLAILI WANNAHARI AMSAA KHWAFII MUSTAJIIRAN BIAMAANIKA WAAMSAA DHULLII
MUSTAJIRAN BIIZZATIKA WAAMSAA WAJHIYAL FAANI MUSTAJIRAN BIWAJHIKAL BAAQIL YA
KHAIRA MAN SUILA WAYA AJWADA MAN AATAA YA ARHAMA MANI-STURHIMA JALLILNII
BIRAHMATIKA WASRIF ANNII SHARRA JAMIIE KHALQIKA.
O Allah! I seek refuge in You from poverty, adverse affairs, the evils of night and day. Let my
transgressions be sheltered by Your forgiveness, my fear by Your security, my abasement by Your
honour and my mortality by Your eternity. O the Best from whom to seek and the Most Generous to
give, envelope me with Your mercy, clothe me with health from You, and keep away from me the evil of
all your creation).
Abu Basir has reported from Abi Adillah (a.s.) that the following be said when the sun has set on
the day of Arafat:
ALLAHUMA LAA TAJALHU AAKHIRAL AHDI MIN HADHAL MAWAQIFIL WARZUQNIIL AWDA ABADAN
MAA ABQAITANII WAAQALIBNIIL YAWMA MUFLIHAN MUNJIAN MUSTAJAABAN LII MARHUUMAN
MAGHFUURAN LII BIAFZALI MAAYANQALIBU BIHIL YAWMA AHADUN MIN WAFDIKA WAHUJJAJI
BAITIKAL HARAMI WAJAALNIIL YAWMA MIN AKRAMI WAFDIKA ALAIKA WAATINII AFZALAL MAA
AATAITA AHADAN MINHUM MINAL KHAIRI WALBARAKATI WARRAHMATI WARRIZWAANI
WALMAGHFIRATI WABARIK LII FII MAA ARJIU ILAIHI MIN AHLIN AWMAALIN AWQALLIILIN
AWKASIRIIN WABARIK LAHUM FIYAA.
Do not make this my last wuquf in this place and grant me future visits to this place so long as I live
and make my wuquf successful and providing for me salvation, mercy and forgiveness better than the
day has provided to the other guests and pilgrim to Your Holy House. Make me today the most
honourable of Your visitors, grant me more goodness, prosperity, mercy and forgiveness more than You
have granted any of them. On my return, bless me with children, wealth little or more, and make me a
blessing for them too).
On the day of Arafat after saying Zohrain prayers at awal-e-waqt (on exact time) facing Qibla:

ALLAHU AKBER. ALHAMDULILLAHI. SUBHANALAHI. LAA ILAHA ILLALLAHU – AYATUL KURSI – INNA
ANZALNAHU – LA HAWLA WALA QUUWATA ILLA BILLAH – QUL HUWALLAH. (RECITE EACH OF
THESE A 100 TIMES)
Facing Qibla say 100 times : Subhannaallah.
And recite these 2 Ayats:
BISMILLAHIRRAHMANIRRAHIM. ALIF LAM MIM DHALIKAL KITABU LAA RAIBA FIIHI HUDAAN
LILMUTTAQIN. ALLADHINA YUMINUUNA BILGHAIBI WAYUQIIMUUNA-SSALAATA WAMIMMA
RAZAQNAHUM YUNFIQUN.
And then 3 times Sura-e-Tawheed and Ayat-ul-Qursi and the following dua:
INNA RABBAKUMULLAHUL-LAZII KHALAKASSAMWATI WALARZI FII SITTATI AYYAMIN

SUMMASTAWAA ALAAL ARSHIL LAILA-NNAHAARA YATLUBUHU HASIISAN WASSHAMSA
WALQAMARA WANNUJUUMA MUSAKKIRAATIN BIAMRIHI ALAALAHUL KHALKU WALAMRU
TABARAKALLAHU RABBUL AALAMIN.
Recite Muazatain (i.e. Sura An-Nas and Sur-e-Alfalak) and then recite as follows:
ALLAHUMMA LAKAL HAMDU ALAA NAAMAIKAL-LATII LAA TUHSAA BIADADIN WALAA TUKAAFU
BIAMALIN.
Then recite the last verse (Ayat) of Sura –e- Hashr and the following :
ASALUKU YA ALLAHU YA RAHMANU BIKULLI ISMIN HUWA LAKA WAASALUKA BIQUWWATIKA

WAIZZATIKA WAJAMIIE MAA-AHAATA BIHI ILMUKA WABI ARKANIKA KULLIHA WABIHAQQI
RASULIKA SALWAATUKA ALAIHI WAALIHI WABISMIKAL AKBERIL AKBER WABISMIKAL AZIIMIL-
LAZII MAN DAAKA BIHI KAANA HAQQAN ALAIKA AN LAA TARUDDAHU WAAN TUATIYAHU MAA
SAALAKA AN TAGHFIRALII JAMIA DHUNUUBII FII JAMIIE ILMIKA FII.
Ask for ones Hajats (wishes) especially for the opportunity to come for Hajj again. After this 70 times:
ASALUKAL JANNATA
And 70 times: ASTAGHFIRULLAH RABBI WAATUBUILAIHI.
And then this dua:

SUBHANAKA ALLAHUMMA WABIHAMDIKA LAA ILLA ANTA AMILTA SUUAN WAZALMTU NAFSII
FAATARAFTU BIDHANBII FAGHFIRLII INNAKA ANTA KHAIRUL GHAFIRIIN. SUBHANAKA ALLAHUMMA
WABIHAMDIKA LAA ILAHA ILLA ANTA AMILTU SUUAN WAZALAMTU NAFSII FAATARAFTU BIDHANBII
FAGHFIRLII INNAKA ANTAT-TAWWABU-RRAHIM.
repeat this very often: ALAHUMA AATIQNII MINANNAR.
MUZDALIFA & MINA
Similarly, there are many courtesies to be observed in Muzdalifah but we shall set out a few of them:1. To proceed from Arafat
with serenity and solemnity seeking forgiveness and on approaching the red sand hill on the right, say: ALLAHUMMARHAM
MAWQIFII WAZIDFII AMALII WASLLIM LII DIINII WATAQABBAL MINNII MANASIKII (O Allah! have mercy on
me as I stand in Your audience in worship, enrich my devotions, maintain my firmness in faith, and accept my performance of
the rituals). 2. To walk steadily. 3. To delay the recitation of prayer until reaching Muzdalifah and combine the recitation of
Maghraib and Isha with one adhan and two iqamah, even though a third of the night has passed. 4. To descend into the valley
on the road to the right near the Mash’ar, it is recommended to be on foot for those whose pilgrimage is the first one.
5. To remain awake during the night in prayer and supplication and say: O Allah of this gathering, I ask You to gather for me in
it a collection of goodness. O Allah! do not make me despair of the goodness which I asked You to accumulate in my heart. I ask
You to grant me the knowledge of this place which You granted to Your chosen ones and guard me against the assembly of evils).
6. To remain in state of taharah, saying prayer, praising Allah, remembering Him and His greatness as much as possible,
and praying for the Holy Prophet and his progeny, and then say:
ALLAHUMA RABBAL MASHRIL HARAMI FUKKA RAQABATII MINANNARI WA AWSIA ALAYYA MIN RIZQIKAL HALALI-TTAYYIBI
WADRAA ANNII SHARRA FASAQATIL JINNI WALINSI. ALLAHUMA ANTA KHAIRU MATLUUBIN ILAIHI WAKHAIRU MADUWWIN
WAKHAIRU MASUULIN WALIKULLI WAAFIDIN JAAIZATUN FAJAL JAAIZATII FII MAWZIEI HADHAA AN TUQIILANII ASRATII
WATAQABBAL MAADHIRATII WAAN TATAJAWAZA AN KHATIATII SUMMA-JALITTAQWAA MINADDUNIYA ZAADII WATAQABBAL
MUFLIHAN MUSTAJAABAN LII BIAFZALI MAA YARJIU BIHI AHADUN MIN WAFDIKA WAZUWWAARA BAITIKAL HARAM.
O Allah! Lord of the Holy Mash’ar, spare me the fire of Hell, increase my lawful sustenance and keep me away from the harm of
the evil ones among the jinn and mankind. O Allah! You are the best to turn to, the best to beseech, and the best to be
supplicated to. There is a reward for every visitor, and in this place, I aspire that my reward be that You forgive my slips, accept
my plea, forgive my sins, and make piety my provision from this world).
7. Collect seventy stones in Muzdalifah for throwing at jamarat.
8.Confess your sins, do istighfar 7 times and on reaching Wadi-e-Mohasaar increase the speed of vehicle (or any
means of transport being used) and as at Harwalla recite the following:
ALLAHUMA SALLIM AHADII WAAAQBAL TAWBATII WAAJIB DAAWATII WAAKHLUFNII FILMAN

TARAKTU BAADII- RABBIGHFIR WAARHAM WATAJAAWAZ AMMA TAALAMU INNAAKA ANTAL AAZZUL
AKRAM.
(O Allah! make me keep my covenant, accept my repentance, answer my wishes and look after those I have left behind).
And then say this :
ALLAHUMA LAA TAJAALHU AAKHIRAL AHADI MIN HADHAL MAWQIFI WARZUQNIIHI ABADAN MAA
ABQAITANII. ALLAHUMMA AATIQ RAQABATII MINANNAR.

After doing niyaat for staying at Mashar recite this:
ALLAHUMMA INNII ASALUKA AN TAJMAA LII FIIHA HAWAMIAL KHAIRI. ALLAHUMMA LAA TUABISNII
MINAL KHAIRIL LAZII SAALTUKA AN TAJMAAHU LII FII QALBI SUMMA ATLUBU MINKA AN
TUARRIFANII MAA ARRAFTA AWLIYAAKA FII MANZILII HADHAA WAAN TAQIYAANI
JAWAAMIASSHARII.
COURTESIES OF RAMI THE JAMARAT
Of the recommended acts during rami are: 1. One should be in a state of taharah (cleanliness) while performing
rami (throwing pebbles).
2. While taking the stones in hand, one should say:
ALLAHUMMA HADHIHI HASAYAATII FAAHSIHINNA LII WAARFAAHUNNA FIIAMALII. O Allah! take into account my stones and
elevate my act of worship).
3. While throwing each pebble, say:
ALLAHU AKBER. ALLAHUMADHAR ANNII-SSHAITAANA ALLAHUMMA TASDIIQAN BIKITAABIKA WAALAA SUNNATI NABIYYIKA
MUHAMMADIN SALLALLAHU ALAIHI WAALIHI. ALAHUMMAJALHU LII HAJJAN MABRUURAN WAAMALAN MAQBUULAN
WASSAYAN MASHKUURAN WADHANBAN MAGHFURAH.Allah is great, O Allah! drive away Satan from me. O Allah! I believe in
Your book as true and the tradition of Your Prophet. O Allah! accept my Hajj, my acts and my devotions, and forgive my sins).
4. Throw the stones at Jamrat-ul-Aqabah from the distance of ten to fifteen steps.
5. While throwing the stones at Jamrat-ul-Aqabah, face it with the back to the qiblah but throw the stones at the First and
Middle, facing the qiblah.
6. Place the pebble on the rear of the thumb and push it with the nail of the index finger.
7. When back in Mina, say:
ALLHUMMA BIKA WASIQTU WAALAIKA TAWAKKALTU FAINAMMA-RRABUU WANIAMAL MAWLA WANIAMANNASIR. O Allah!
my faith and trust is in You and You are the best Sustainer, Master and Helper).
COURTESIES DURING QURBANI
Of the recommended acts 1. These should be in the order of camel, cow and male sheep.2. The animal
should be in sound health. 3. At the time of offering the sacrifice, say:
WAJJAHTU WAJHIYA LILLAZII FATARRASSAMAWAATI WAL ARZI HANIIFAN MUSLIMAN WAMAA ANA
MINAL MUSHRIKIIN INNA SALAATII WANUSKII WANAGYAAYA WANANATII LILLAHI RABBIL AALAMIN

LAA SHARIIKA LAHU WABIDHALIKA UMIRTU WAANA MINAL MUSLIMIIN. ALLAHUMMA MINKA
WALAKA BISMILLAHI WABILLAHI WALLAHU AKBER. ALLAHUMA TAQABBAL MINNI, ALLAHUMMA
TAQABBAL MINNII KAMA TAQABALTA AN EBRAHIMA KHALIILIKA WA MUSA KALIIMIKA WA
MUHAMMADIN HABIIBIKA SALLALLAHU ALIHI WAALIHI WAALAIHIM.
I turn my attention towards the One who has created the heavens and the earth as a true believer and
a Muslim; and I am not among the polytheists, My prayer, hady, life and death are for Allah, the
Sustainer of the worlds. He has no partner and so have I been ordered and I am of those who have
submitted to You. O Allah all this is from and for You. I commence in the Name of Allah and Allah is
great. O Allah! accept my devotions).
4. The animal be slaughtered by the pilgrim himself but if he cannot, he should hold the knife in his
hand and the person slaughtering the animal should hold the hand of the pilgrim; there is no objection
to the pilgrim holding the hand of the person slaughtering the animal.
TAQSIR /HALAQ
It is recommended that the shaving commence from the front of the head and this supplication be said:
ALLAHUMMA AATINII BIKULLI SHAARATIN NUURAN YAWMALGIYAMATI.
(O Allah! grant me on the Day of Judgement light for every hair).. The hair be buried in his tent in Mina.After shaving of
the head, hair also be taken from the beard and moustache and nails be cut.
On returning to Mecca Muazzama for performing Tawaf of Hajj(after completing amals of Mina ) recite the following dua at
the door Masjid-ul-Haram:
ALLAHUMMA AINII ALAA NUSUKII WASALLIMNII LAHU WASALLIMHU LII ALLAHUMMA INNII
ASALUKA MASALATAL ALIILI-DDHALILI MUATARIFI BIDHANBIHI AN TAGHFIRALII DHUNUBII WAAN
TARJIANII BIHAAJATII. ALLAHUMA INII ABDUKA WALBALADU BALADUKA WALBAITU BAITUKA JIATA
ATLUBU RAHMATAKA JIATA ATLUBU RAHMATAKA WAAUMMU TAATAKA MUTTABIAN LIAMRIKA
RAZIYAN BIQADRIKA ASALUKA MASALATAL MUZTARRI ILAIKA ALMUTIIE LIAMRIKAL MUSHFIQI MIN
ADHABIKAL KHAAIFI LIUQUBATIKA AN TUBALLIGHANII AFWAKA WATUJIIRANII MINANNARI
BIRAHMATIKA.
(O Allah! help me to worship You; save me for it and save it for me. I ask You as a weak, lowly person
confessing his sins, forgive my sins and grant my wishes. O Allah! I am Your servant; the land is Yours
and the House too. I have come asking for Your mercy and to be obedient to You. I submit to your
ordinance and am pleased with what You have destined. I ask You as a distressed person, obedient to
Your orders, apprehensive of Your torments, fearful of Your punishment, me to Your forgiveness and
spare me Hell fire by Your mercy).
Apart from this, those duas already mentioned for Umara may be recited:
And then when returning once again to Mina recite this:
ALLAHUMMA HIKA WASIQTU WABIKA AAMANTU WALAKA ASLAMTU WAALAIKA TAWAKKALTU

FINIAMARRABBU WANIAMAL – MAWLA WANIANMAN-NASIR.
At all the 3 places where stones have to be struck recite the following after saying salawaat, etc:
ALLAHUMMA TAQABBAL MINNII.

In Mina after praying 15 namaz the Mustahab Takbeerat are as follows:
ALLAHU AKBER. ALLAHU AKBER. LAA ILAHA ILLALLAHU WALLAHU AKBER ALAAMAA HADAANA
WALAHUL HAMDU ALAA MAA AWLAANA WARAZAQANA MIN BAHIIMATIL ANAAM WALILLAHIL
HAMDU ALLAHU AKBER ALAA MAA HADANA ALLAHU AKBER ALAA MAA RAZAQANA MIN BAHIMATIL
ANAAMI. ALHAMDULILLAHI ALAA MAA ABLAANA.
It is mustahab to say both wajib and mustahab names in Masjid-e-Kheef while in Mina and also there is a great sawab to say
100 rakaat namaz:
SUBHANNALLAAH - 100 times (will bestow rewards)

LAAILAHAILLALLAH 100 times
ALHAMDULLILAH 100 times (manifolds)
On returning to Mecca from Mina it is mustahab to enter the Khana-e-Kaaaba, before the entrance recite the following :
ALLAHUMMA ALBAITU BAITUKA WALABDU ABDUKA WAQAD QULTU WAMANDAKHALAHU KAAN

AAMINAN FAAMINNII MIN ADHABIKA WAAJIRNII MIN SAKHATIKA.
And after entrance recite the following:
COURTESIES OF MINA
It is recommended that the pilgrim remains in Mina during the period for the wuquf (stay) there. One
should not move out even for a recommended tawaf. It is recommended to say the takbir after fifteen
prayers, commencing from dhuhr on the day of the sacrifice and after ten in other cities. It is preferred
that the takbir be said thus:
(Allah is great, Allah is great. There is no God except Allah, Allah is great. Allah is great and all praise is
due to Allah. Allah is great, in that He has guided us. Allah is great, in that He has granted us animals
for sustenance; all praise is due to Allah for what he has destined for us).
It is recommended that all obligatory and recommended prayers be said in the Mosque of Kheef.
Abu Hamza Thumali has reported that the Fifth Imam (a.s.) has stated that he who recites a hundred
raka’as in the Mosque of Kheef in Mina before departing from there will be rewarded the equivalent of
the worship of seventy years. He who recites subhanallah in the Mosque a hundred times will have the
reward for freeing a slave. He who recites there la ilaha illallah a hundred times, will be rewarded the
equivalent of saving a life; he who recites there alhamdu lillah a hundred times will be rewarded the
equivalent of giving in charity the revenue of the two Iraqs
COURTESIES OF MAKKAH
Of the matters recommended are:
1. Remembrance of Allah a great deal and the recitation of the Holy Qur’an.
2. Recitation of the entire Holy Qur’an.

3. Drinking the water of Zamzam and then saying: (O Allah! grant me knowledge which is
beneficial, great sustenance and relief from pains and illnesses). Then say: (By the Name of Allah, all
praise is due to Allah and I thank Allah).
4. Looking in abundance at the Holy Ka’ba.
5. Make tawaf of the Holy Ka’ba ten times: three times in the first part of the night, three at the
end of the night, twice after dawn and twice after dhuhr.
6. Three hundred and sixty tawafs be performed during the wuqufin Makkah; if it is not possible
to do so, fifty two tawaafs be performed, and if not, as many be performed as possible.
7. For the person performing their maiden pilgrimage, it is recommended that they do ghusl
before entering the Holy Ka’ba. They may say at the time of entry:
ALLAHUMMA INNAKA QULTA WAMN DAKHALAHU KAANA AAMINAN. ALLAHUMMA FAAMINNII MIN
ADHABIKA ADHABINNAR.
O Allah! You have stated that whoever has entered it is safe. Save me from the torments of fire).
Then say two raka’as between the two pillars on the red marble tiles. After the recitation of the
Chapter of Fatiha, recite in the first raka’a the Chapter of Ha’meem Sajdah and in the second, fifty five
verses.
8. Say prayer at all the corners of the Holy Ka’ba, saying after the prayer:
O Allah! whomsoever among Your creation prepare themselves to turn to other people in the hope of
obtaining favours, gifts, benefits and grants from them, I, O my Master!, prepare myself and am ready
to turn to You in the hope of receiving Your favours, benefits and grants. Do not dash my hopes today,
O One! Who does not disappoint those turning to Him, do not deny me Your mercy. I have not brought
today a weighty load of good deeds while approaching You nor do I hope from intercession of other
people, but I turn to You, confessing the wrongs I have done to myself without an excuse. I implore
You, as You are worthy, to send Your blessings on Muhammad and his progeny, grant me what I seek
to gain from You. Forgive my wrongs, fulfil my wishes, and do not return me rejected, denied or
disappointed. O Great, O Great, O Great! I have great hopes in You and beg You, O Great! to forgive
my grave sins There is no God, but You).
It is recommended to say three times (Allahu Akbar) at the time of emerging from the Holy
Ka’ba, saying this du’a (supplication): (O Allah! do not afflict us with tribulations. O our Sustainer,
do not let our enemies rejoice at our misfortunes; verily, You are the one to bring damage and benefit).
Then come out of Holy Ka’ba and, facing it with the ladder to the left, say two raka’as by the ladder.
FAREWELL TAWAF
It is recommended that, upon leaving Makkah, the pilgrim perform a tawaf of farewell. (tawaf-ul-
widaa). In each round he should salute the Hajar-ul-Aswad and Rukn-ul-Yamani. He should perform the
recommended acts already set out on reaching the Mustajaar. He should state his wishes. He should
then salute the Hajar-ul-Aswad and press his abdomen to the Holy Ka’ba. He should hold the Hajar-ul-
Aswad with one hand and the door of the Holy Ka’ba with the other. Then he should thank and praise
Allah, pray for the Holy Prophet and his progeny and then say:

The Prayer of Tawaf
O Allah!
I am Thy dependent servant, and I am fearful and

take refuge in Thee; so do not alter my body nor
change my name.
I am your beggar, your poor destitute servant at your
gate; so grant me mercifully your paradise.

O Allah!
The House is Thy House, and the sanctuary is Thy
sanctuary, and the servant is Thy servant, and this is

the station of him who turns to Thee and takes refuge
with Thee from Fire; so save me and my parents, my
children and my faithful brethren from Fire, for Thou
art the Generous, the Gracious.
The Prayer of the Third Turn
O Allah!
Grant me the paradise by Thy mercy, and give me

refuge from Fire by Thy mercy, and heal me from
disease,
and enlarge Thy lawful bounty for me, and keep me

safe from the evil of the dissolute among the genies
and men and the evil of the Arabs and non-Arabs.
O Thou bountiful, mighty and munificent!
My deed is little, so multiply it, and accept it from me;
verily Thou art the All-hearing, the All-knowing.

O Allah!
The owner of well-being, the creator of well-being, the

bestower of well-being, the granter of well-being, and
the conferrer of well-being on me and on all Thy
creatures,
O, Thou the merciful of this world and the hereafter

and their compassionate God,
Bless Muhammad and his household, and bestow on us
well-being, full well-being, and thanks giving on well-

being in this world and the hereafter, by Thy mercy, O
Thou most merciful.
The Prayer of the Fifth Turn
Praise to Allah Who has honoured thee and exalted
thee,
Praise to Allah Who sent Muhammad as a prophet and

designated Ali as Imam and the leader.
O, Allah, Guide the best of Thy people to him, and keep

the evil of Thy creatures away from him.
O our Lord,
Grant us Thy blessing in this world and Thy blessing in
the other world, and save us from the pain of Fire.
The Prayer of the Sixth Turn
O Allah!
The House is Thy House, and this is the station of him
who takes refuge with Thee from Fire.
O Allah!
All blessing, relief and well-being come from Thee.
O Allah!
My deed is little, so multiply it for me, and forgive all

that Thou knowest of me but has been hidden from
Thy creatures. I take refuge with Allah from Fire.

The Prayer of the Seventh Turn
O Allah!
I bear crowds of sins and crowds of faults, and with

thee are crowds of blessing and crowds of forgiveness.
O Thou Who granted the request of Thy most hated
creatures when he said “give me respite until the day
they are resurrected,” grant me my request. When he
said,” Give me time to the day of resurrection, accept
from me.
O Allah! Make me content with what you have

provided me with, and bless me with what you have
given me.

The Prayer of the First Round, from Safa to Marwah
Allah is great in His greatness, and abundant praise belongs to

Allah;
Glory be to Exalted Allah, and praise is due to His Honour both

morning and night.
And bow down to Him for a part of the night, and glorify Him for a
long time at night.
There is no god save Allah, the One; He has fulfilled His word,
granted victory to [helped] His servant, and alone defeated the
parties.”
Nothing is there before or after Him; He is the One Who gives life
or causes death, and He is the living Who never dies or passes

All good is in His hand; the return of all is to Him, and He has
power over all things.
O Lord! Forgive and have mercy and pardon and be gracious and
excuse what Thou knowest, surely Thou knowest what we do not
know, verily Thou art Allah, the All-mighty, the most Generous.
O Lord! Save us from Fire, and make us safe, successful, happy,

rejoicing with Thy righteous servants, with those who are blessed
by Thee – the Prophets, the truthful, the martyrs, and the righteous-
and what good companions are those. That is the bounty of Allah,
and it is enough that Allah is All-knowing.
There is no god save Allah, truly right. There is no god save Allah
and only Him we do worship; we make our religion sincerely His,
though the unbelievers may be averse.
Surely, Safa and Marwah are amongst the rituals of Allah; so he

who makes pilgrimage to the House or visits It, there is no sin to
circumambulate them. And if anyone obeyeth his own impulse to
good deeds, surely Allah is grateful and All-knowing
The Prayer of the Second Round, from Marwah to Safa
Allah is Great, Allah is Great, Allah is Great and praise belongs to

Him, There is no god save Allah, the One, the Unique, the
Everlasting, He Who has taken no consort, and has no Children, He
Who has no partner in His kingdom, nor has He a master out of
weakness, And we glorify Him greatly.
O Allah! Thou hast said in Thy revealed Book “Call unto Me, and I
will grant your request.” O Lord! We have called unto Thee, as
Thou hast ordered us; so forgive us, Truly Thou never doest change
Thy word.
O Lord! We have heard a caller calling to faith: “Have faith in your

Lord.” We have faith; so Lord, forgive us our sins, and acquit us of
our evil deeds, and take us to Thee with the righteous.
O Lord! Give us what Thou promised us through Thy Prophets, Do

not disgrace us on the Day of Judgment, Surely Thou never doest
change Thy word.
O Lord! We trust Thee, and we turn to Thee, and to Thee is the

final return of all.
O Lord! Forgive us and our brethren who preceded us in faith, and

let our hearts hold no grudge against those who have belief, Surely,
Thou art the Kind, the Compassionate.

The Prayer of the Third Round, from Safa to Marwah
Allah is great, Allah is great, and praise belongs to

Allah; O Lord! Make our light perfect for us, and
forgive us, truly Thou hast power over all things.
O Allah! I ask Thee all that is good, present and future good, and I
ask Thee to forgive me my sins, and I ask Thee Thy mercy, O Thou
most Merciful.
O Lord, increase my knowledge, and do not make my heart swerve

now that Thou hast guided me, and bestow on me Thy mercy, truly
Thou art the bestower.
O Allah! Protect my ears (hearing) and my sight – (eye). There is

no god save Thee, and I take refuge in Thee from the pains of the
grave; Glory be to Thee, surely I have been of the wrongdoers.
O Allah! I take refuge in Thee from disbelief and poverty.
O Allah! I take refuge in Thy satisfaction from Thy wrath, I take

refuge in Thy well-being from Thy chastisement, I take refuge in
Thee from Thee; I cannot estimate Thy praise as Thou hast praised
Thyself, Praise is due to Thee as much as Thou art satisfied.

O Allah! I ask Thee the best that Thou knowest, and I take refuge

hidden. There is no god have save Allah, the undoubtedly right lord
Muhammad is the Prophet of Allah, the true in his promise, the
trustworthy.
O Allah! As Thou hast guided me to Islam, I ask Thee not to take it

away from me so that when Thou take back my soul I may die and
I am a Muslim.
O Allah! Let there be light in my heart, and light in my ears, and

light in my eyes.
O Allah and my Lord! Expand my chest, and make easy my affair,

and I take refuge in Thee from the evil of the temptations of the
heart and the division of the affairs, and the ordeal of the grave.

The Prayer of Tawaf
O Allah! I take refuge in Thee from the evil that enters the night
and the evil that enters the day, and all evil that the winds come
with, surely Thou art the most Merciful.
O Allah! Glory be to Thee, truly we have not worshiped Thee as

Thou must be worshipped.
O Allah! Glory be to Thee, truly we have not remembered Thee as

Thou must be remembered.

The Prayer of the Fifth Round, from Safa to Marwah

Allah; O Allah! Glory be to Thee, truly we have not thanked Thee
as Thou must be thanked.
O Allah! Glory be to Thee; how exalted is Thy state!
O Allah! Endear Faith to us, and adorn it in our heart, and make us
hate disbelief and dissolution and disobedience, and makes us of
the guided.
O Allah! Save me from Thy chastisement the day when Thou

resurrect Thy servants.
O Allah! Lead me to Thy guidance, and purify me be Thy fear, and

forgive me in this and the other world.
O Allah! Extend Thy blessings, Thy Mercy, Thy Grace and Thy
Bounty to us.
O Allah! I ask Thee that everlasting blessing which never changes

nor ceases.
O Allah! Let there be light in my heart, and light in my ears, and

light in my eyes, and light in my tongue, and light on my right, and
light above my head, and light in my soul, and increase my light.

The Prayer of the Sixth Round, from Marwah to Safa

Allah. There is no god save Allah, the One; He has fulfilled His

O Allah! We are guided by Thy light, we are sufficient by Thy

grace, and we begin our morning and night under Thy protection,
blessings, endowment and bounty.
Thou art the First before Whom there was nothing, The last after
Whom there will be nothing, The Manifest above Whom there is
nothing, The Hidden beyond Whom there is nothing. We take
refuge in Thee from bankruptcy, indolence, the pain of the grave,
and the temptation of sufficiency, and we ask Thee to reward us
with paradise.

The Prayer of the Seventh Round, from Safa to Marwah
Allah is great, Allah is great, and abundant praise

belongs to Allah.
O Allah! Endear faith to me, and adorn it in my heart, and make me

hate disbelief and dissolution and disobedience, and make me of
the righteous.
O Allah! Terminate our life in righteous deeds, and in Thy grace

make our wishes true, and smooth our ways to reach Thy
satisfaction, and in all states improve our deeds.
O Thou Who rescue the drowning and save the perishing, O Thou
Who witness all whispers, and to Whom all complaints are made,

O Thou Whose bounty is ancient, and Whose beneficence is

endless, O Thou of Whom nothing can be independent, and every
thing is dependent on Thee, O Thou Who sustain all, and the return
of every thing is to Thee.
O Allah! I take refuge in Thee from the evil of what Thou hast
bestowed on us, and the evil of what Thou hast prohibited for us.
O Allah! Make us die Muslims, and make us join the righteous,

neither disgraced nor tempted.
O Lord! Make our affairs easy not difficult. O Lord! End our
affairs well.

Prayer for the Day of A'rafah 9th Zilhajj

Dua by Imam Husain (as)
Praise belongs to God whose decree none may

avert, and whose gift none may prevent. No
fashioner's fashioning is like His fashioning, and

He is the Generous, the All-embracing. He brought
forth the varieties of unprecedented creatures and
perfected through His wisdom all He had

fashioned. Hidden not from Him are harbingers,
nor lost with Him are deposits. He repays every
fashioner, feathers the nest of all who are content
and has mercy upon all who humble themselves.

He sends down benefits and the all-encompassing
Book in radiant light. He hears supplications,
averts afflictions, raises up in degrees, and knocks

down tyrants. For there is no god other than He,
nothing is equal to Him, "Like Him there is naught,

and He is the Hearing, the Seeing" (XLII, II), the
subtle, the Aware, and "He is powerful over all
things" (V, I20 etc.). O God, I make Thee my

quest and bear witness to Thy Lordship,
acknowledging that Thou art my Lord and to Thee

is my return. Thou originated me by Thy blessing
before I was a thing remembered. Thou created
me from dust, then gavest me a place in the loins

(of my fathers), secure from the uncertainty of
Fate and the vagaries of the ages and the years. I

remained a traveller from loin to womb in a time
immemorial of past days and bygone centuries. In
Thy tenderness, bounty and goodness toward me
Thou didst not send me out into the empire of the

leaders of disbelief, those who broke Thy covenant
and cried lies to Thy messengers. Rather, Thou
sentest me out to that guidance which had been

foreordained for me, the way which Thou madest

easy for me and in which Thou nurtured me. And

before that Thou wert kind to me through Thy
gracious fashioning and abundant blessings. Thou

originated my creation from a sperm-drop spilled
and madest me to dwell in a threefold gloom
among flesh, blood and skin. Thou gavest me not
to witness my creation, nor didst Thou entrust me

with anything of my own affair. Then thou sentest
me out into the world for the guidance that had

been foredained for me, complete and unimpaired.
Thou watched over me in the cradle as an infant
boy, provided me with food, wholesome milk, and
turned the hearts of the nurse-maids toward me.

Thou entrusted my upbringing to compassionate
mothers, guarded me from the calamities brought

by the jinn and kept me secure from excess and
lack. High art Thou, O Merciful! O Compassionate!
Then when I began to utter speech Thou

completed for me Thy abundant blessings. Thou
nurtured me more and more each year until, when

my nature was perfected and my strength
balanced, Thou madest Thy argument encumbent
upon me by inspiring me with knowledge of Thee,

awing me with the marvels of Thy wisdom,
awakening me to the wonders of Thy creation
which Thou hadst multiplied in Thy Heaven and

Thy earth, and instructing me in Thy thanks and
remembrance. Thou madest encumbent upon me
Thy obedience and worship, madest me to

understand what Thy messengers had brought and
madest easy for me the acceptance of Thy good
pleasure. Thou wast gracious to me in all of this,

through Thy succour and kindness. Then, since
Thou created me from the best soil, Thou wert not
satisfied, my God, that I should have one blessing

without another. Thou provided me with varieties
of sustenance and kinds of garments and Thy
tremendous, most tremendous, graciousness to

me and Thy eternal goodness toward me. And

finally, when Thou hadst completed for me every
blessing and turned away from me all misfortunes,

Thou wert not prevented by my ignorance and
audacity from guiding me toward that which would
bring me nigh to Thee or from giving me success
in that which would bring me close to Thee. For if I

prayed to Thee Thou answered, if I asked of Thee
Thou gavest, if I obeyed Thee Thou showed Thy

gratitude, and if I thanked Thee Thou gavest me
more. All of that was to perfect Thy blessings upon
me and Thy goodness toward me. So glory be to
Thee; Glory be to Thee, who are Producer and

Reproducer, Laudable, Glorious. Holy are Thy
Names and tremendous Thy bounties. So which of

Thy blessings, my God, can I enumerate by
counting and mentioning? For which of Thy gifts
am I able to give thanks? Since they, O Lord, are

more than reckoners can count or those who
entrust to memory can attain by knowledge. But

the affliction and hardship, O God, that Thou
turned and averted from me is more than the
health and happiness that came to me. And I

witness, my God, by the truth of my faith, the
knotted resolutions of my certainty, my pure and
unadulterated profession of Unity, the hidden

inwardness of my consciousness, the places to
which the streams of light of my eyes are
attached, the lines on my forehead's surface, the

openings for my breath's channels, the parts of
my nose's soft point, the paths of my ears' canals,
what my lips close upon and compress, the

movements of my tongue in speaking, the joint at
the back of my mouth and jaw, the sockets of my
molar teeth, the place where I swallow my food

and drink, that which bears my brain, the hollow
passages of my neck's fibers, that which is
contained in my breast's cavity, the carriers of my

aorta, the places where my heart's curtain is

attached, the small pieces of flesh around my
liver, that which the ribs of my sides encompass,

the sockets of my joints, the contraction of my
members, the tips of my fingers, my flesh, my
blood, my hair, my skin, my nerves, my windpipe,
my bones, my brain, my veins, and all of my

members, what was knitted upon them in the days
when I was a suckling baby, what the earth has

taken away from me, my sleep, my waking, my
being still, and the movements of my bowing and
prostrating, that had I taken pains and had I
striven for the duration of the epochs and ages

were my life to be extended through them to
deliver thanks for one of Thy blessings, I would

not have been able to do so, except by Thy grace,
which alone makes encumbent upon me never-
ending and ever renewed gratitude to Thee, and

fresh and ever present praise. Indeed, and were I
and the reckoners among Thy creatures ever so

eager to calculate the extent of Thy bestowal of
blessings, whether past or approaching, we would
fail to encompass it through numbers or to

calculate its boundaries. Never how could it ever
be done! For Thou announcest in Thy eloquent
Book and truthful Tiding, "And if you count God's

blessing, you will never number it" (XIV, 34). Thy
Book, O God, Thy Message, has spoken the truth!
And Thy prophets and messengers delivered Thy

revelation that Thou hadst sent down upon them
and the religion that Thou hadst promulgated for
them and through them. And I witness, my God,

by my effort, my diligence, and the extent of my
obedience and my capacity, and I say as a
believer possessing certainty, "Praise belongs to

God, who has not taken to Him a son" that He
might have an heir, "and who has not any
associate in His dominion" who might oppose Him

Zilhajj
in what He creates, "nor any protector out of

humbleness" (XVII, III) who would aid Him in
what He fashions. So glory be to Him, glory be to

Him! "Why, were there gods in earth and heaven
other than God, they would surely go to
ruin" (XXI, 22) and be rent. Glory be to God, the
Unique, the One, "the Everlasting Refuge" who

"has not begotten, nor has He been begotten, and
equal to Him there is none" (CXII, 2-4). Praise

belongs to God, praise equal to the praise of the
angels stationed near to Him and the prophets
sent by Him. And God bless His elect, Muhammad,
the Seal of the Prophets, and his virtuous, pure

and sincere household, and give them peace. Then
he began to supplicate. He occupied himself with

prayer as tears ran from his blessed eyes. Then he
said: O God, cause me to fear Thee as if I were
seeing Thee, give me felicity through piety toward

Thee, make me not wretched by disobedience
toward Thee, choose the best for me by Thy

decree (qadha') and bless me by Thy
determination (qadar), that I may love not the
hastening of what Thou hast delayed, nor the

delaying of what Thou hast hastened. O God,
appoint for me sufficiency in my soul, certainty in
my heart, sincerity in my action, light in my eyes,

and insight in my religion. Give me enjoyment of
my bodily members, make my hearing and my
seeing my two inheritors, help me against him

who wrongs me, show me in him my revenge and
my desires, and console thereby my eyes. O God,
remove my affliction, veil my defects, forgive my

offence, drive away my Satan, dissolve my debt,
and give me, my God, the highest degree in the
world to come and in this world. O God, to Thee

belongs the praise, just as Thou created me and
made me to hear and to see; and to Thee belongs
the praise, just as Thou created me and made me

a creature unimpaired as a mercy to me, while

Thou hadst no need of my creation. My Lord, since
Thou created me and then made straight my

nature; my Lord, since Thou caused me to grow
and made good my shape; my Lord, since Thou
didst good to me and gavest me well-being in my
soul; my Lord, since Thou preserved me and

gavest me success; my Lord, since Thou blessed
me and then guided me; my Lord, since Thou

chosest me and gavest me of every good; my
Lord, since Thou gavest me to eat and drink; my
Lord, since Thou enriched me and contented me;
my Lord, since Thou aided me and exalted me; my

Lord, since Thou dothed me with Thy pure
covering and smoothed the way for me by Thy

sufficient fashioning: Bless Muhammad and the
household of Muhammad, aid me against the
misfortunes of time and the calamities of nights

and days, deliver me from the terrors of this world
and the torments of the world to come and spare

me from the evil of that which the evildoers do in
the earth. O God, as for what I fear, spare me
from it, and as for what I seek to avoid, guard me

against it. in my soul and my religion watch over
me, in my travelling protect me, in my family and
my property appoint for me a successor, in what

Thou hast provided for me bless me, in my soul
humble me, in the eyes of men magnify me, from
the evil of jinn and men preserve me, for my sins

disgrace me not, for my inward secrets shame me
not, for my action try me not, of Thy blessings
deprive me not and to other than Thee entrust me

not. My God, to whom wouldst Thou entrust me?
To a relative? He would cut me off. Or to a
stranger? He would look at me with displeasure.

Or to those who act toward me with arrogance?
But Thou art my Lord and the sovereign over my
affair. I would complain to Thee of my exile and

the remoteness of my abode, and that he whom

Thou hast made sovereign over me despises me.
My God, so cause not Thy wrath to alight upon

me. If Thou becomest not wrathful with me I will
have no care, glory be to Thee But Thy protection
is more embracing. So I ask Thee, O Lord, by the
Light of Thy Face by which the earth and the

heavens are illuminated, shadows are removed,
and the affairs of the ancients and the later folks

are set aright, not to cause me to die when Thy
wrath is upon me, nor to send down upon me Thy
anger. The pleasure is Thine The pleasure is Thine,
to be satisfied with me before that. There is no

god but Thou, Lord of the Holy Land, the Sacred
Monument, and the Ancient House, upon which

Thou caused blessing to descend and which Thou
madest a sanctuary for mankind. O He who
pardons the greatest sins by His clemency! O He

who lavishes blessings by His bounty! O He who
gives abundance by His generosity! O Sustenance

to me in my adversity! O Companion to me in my
solitude! O Aid to me in my affliction! O Benefactor
to me in my blessing! O my God and God of my

fathers, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac and Jacob! Lord
of Gabriel, Michael and Israfil! Lord of Muhammad,
the Seal of the Prophets, and his household, the

chosen ones! Revealer of the Torah, the Gospel,
the Psalms and the Criterion, and Sender down of
Kaf Ha' Ya' Ayn Sad, Ta' Ha', Ya' Sin, and the Wise
Quran! Thou art my cave (of refuge) when the
roads for all their amplitude constrict me and the
land for all its breadth is strait for me. If not for
Thy mercy, I would have been among the
perishing, and Thou annullest my slip. If not for
Thy covering me, I would have been among the

disgraced, and Thou confirmest me with help
against my enemies. And if not for Thy helping
me, I would have been among those overcome. O

Zilhajj
He who appropriated loftiness and exaltation to

Himself, so His friends (awliya') are mighty
through His might! O He before whom kings place

the yoke of abasement around their necks, for
they fear His overwhelming power! "He knows the
treachery of the eyes and what the breasts
conceal" (XL,19) and the unseen brought by time

and fate. O He about whom none knows how He is
but He! O He about whom none knows what He is

but He! O He whom none knows but He! O He who
squeezed the earth onto the water and held back
the air with the sky! O He to whom belong the
noblest Names! O He who possesses kindness,

which will never be cut off! O He who assigned the
cavalcade to Joseph in the barren land, brought

him out of the well and made him a king after
slavery! O He who returned him to Jacob after "his
eyes were whitened with sorrow that he was

suppressing" (XII, 84) O He who removed
affliction and tribulation from Job and restrained

Abraham's hands from the sacrifice of his son after
he had reached old age and his life had passed by!
O He who answered the prayer of Zachariah and

bestowed upon him John, not leaving him childless
and alone! O He who brought Jonah out from the
stomach of the fish! O He who parted the sea for

the Children of Israel, then saved them and
drowned Pharoah and his hosts! O He who sends
winds heralding His mercy! O He who does not

hurry (to act) against those of His creatures who
disobey Him! O He who rescued the sorcerers after
(their) long denial! They had early benefitted from

His blessing, eating His provision and worshipping
other than Him; they had opposed, denied and
cried lies to His messengers. O God! O God! O

Beginner, O Creator with no compeer! O
Everlasting who has no end! O Living when
nothing was alive! O Quickener of the dead! O "He

Who is aware of the deserts of every

soul" (XIII,33)! O He toward whom my gratitude
was little, yet He deprived me not! My

transgression was great, yet He disgraced me not!
He saw me committing acts of disobedience, yet
he made me not notorious! O He who watched
over me in childhood! O He who provided for me

in my adulthood! O He whose favors toward me
cannot be reckoned and whose blessings cannot

be repaid! O He who has confronted me with the
good and the fair, and I have confronted Him with
evil and disobedience in return! O He who led me
to faith before I had come to know gratitude for

His gracious bestowal O He upon whom I called
when I was sick and He healed me, when naked

and He clothed me, when hungry and He satisfied
me, when thirsty and He gave me to drink, when
abased and He exalted me, when ignorant and He

gave me knowledge, when alone and He increased
my number, when away and He returned me,

when empty-handed and He enriched me, when in
need of help and He helped me, and when rich and
He took not from me. I refrained from (calling

upon Thee in) all of that and Thou caused me to
begin (to call). Thine are the praise and the
gratitude! O He who overlooked my slip, relieved

my distress, heard my prayer, covered my
defects, forgave my sins, caused me to reach my
desire, and helped me against my enemy! If I

were to count Thy blessings, favors and generous
acts of kindness I would not be able to reckon
them. O my Protector! Thou art He who was

gracious, Thou art He who blessed, Thou art He
who worked good, Thou art He who was kind,
Thou art He who was bounteous, Thou art He who

perfected, Thou art He who provided, Thou art He
who gave success, Thou art He who bestowed,
Thou art He who enriched, Thou art He who

contented, Thou art He who sheltered, Thou art He

who sufficed, Thou art He who guided, Thou art He
who preserved (from sin), Thou art He who

covered (my sins), Thou art He who forgave, Thou
art He who overlooked, Thou art He who
established (in the earth), Thou art He who
exalted, Thou art He who aided, Thou art He who

supported, Thou art He who confirmed, Thou art
He who helped, Thou art He who healed, Thou art

He who gave well-being, Thou art He who honored
- blessed art Thou and high exalted! So Thine is
the praise everlastingly, and Thine is gratitude
enduringly and forever! Then I, my God, confess

my sins, so forgive me for them. I am he who did
evil, I am he who made mistakes, I am he who

purposed (to sin), I am he who was ignorant, I am
he who was heedless, I am he who was negligent,
I am he who relied (upon other than Thee), I am

he who premeditated, I am he who promised, I
am he who went back on his word, I am he who

confessed (my sins) and I am he who
acknowledged Thy blessings upon me and with me
and then returned to my sins. So forgive me for

them, O He who is not harmed by the sins of His
servants nor needs He their obedience. He gives
success through His aid and His mercy to

whomsoever of them works righteousness. So
praise belongs to Thee, My God and My Lord! My
God, Thou commanded me and I disobeyed and

Thou forbade me and I committed what Thou
hadst forbidden. I became such that I neither
possessed any of guiltlessness that I might ask

forgiveness nor any power that I might be helped.
Then by what means shall I turn toward Thee, O
my Protector!? What, by my ears? Or my eyes? Or

my tongue? Or my hand? Or my leg? Are not all of
them Thy blessings given to me? And with all of
them I disobey Thee, O my Protector! Thine is the

argument and the means against me. O He who

veiled me (my sins) from fathers and mothers lest
they drive me away, from relatives and brothers

lest they rebuke me, and from kings lest they
punish me! If they had seen, O my Protector, what
Thou hast seen from me, they would not have
given me respite, they would have abandoned me

and cut me off. So here I am, O my God, before
Thee O Lord, humbled, abased, constrained,

despised, neither possessing guiltlessness that I
might ask forgiveness nor possessing power that I
might be helped. There is no argument with which
I might argue, nor can I say I committed not

(sins) and worked not evil. And denial, were I to
deny-my Protector-could hardly profit me. How

could it ever do that? For all of my members are
witness against me for what I have done. And I
acted with certainty and without ana doubt that

Thou wilt ask me about great affairs, and that
Thou art the equitable Judge who does no wrong.

Thy justice is deadly for me and I flee from Thy
every just act. If thou chastisest me, O my God, it
is for my sins after Thy argument against me; and

if Thou pardonest me, it is by Thy clemency,
generosity and kindness. "There is no god but
Thou, glory be to Thee l Truly I am one of the

wrong-doers" (XXI, 87). There is no god but Thou,
glory be to Thee! Truly I am one of those who
pray forgiveness. There is no god but Thou, glory

be to Thee I Truly I am one of those who profess
Thy Unity. There is no god but Thou, glory be to
Thee! Truly I am one of the fearful. There is no

god but Thou, glory be to Thee I Truly I am one of
those who are afraid. There is no god but Thou,
glory be to Thee! Truly I am one of the hopeful.

There is no god but Thou, glornot ny be to Thee!
Truly I am one of those who yearn. There is no
god but Thou, glory be to Thee! Truly I am one of

those who say "There is no god but Thou". There

is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee! Truly I am
one of the petitioners. There is no god but Thou,

glory be to Thee! Truly I am one of the glorifiers.
There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee! Truly I
am one of those who magnify. There is no god but
Thou, glory be to Thee, my Lord, and the Lord of

my fathers, the ancients! My God, this is my
praise of Thee exalting Thy majesty, my sincerity

in remembering Thee by professing Thy Unity, and
my acknowledgment of Thy bounties by
enumeration, even though I acknowledge that I
cannot reckon them for their multitude, their

abundance, their manifestness and their existence
from ancient times until a present in which Thou

hast never ceased to care for me through them
from when Thou created me and brought me into
existence in the beginning of (my) life, by

enriching from poverty, relieving affliction,
bringing ease, removing hardship, dispelling

distress, and (giving me) well-being in body and
soundness in religion. Were all the world's
inhabitants, both the ancients and the later folk, to

assist me in attempting to mention Thy blessing, I
would not be able, nor would they, to do so. Holy
art Thou and high exalted, a generous, mighty,

merciful Lord. Thy bounties cannot be reckoned,
nor Thy praise accomplished, nor Thy blessings
repaid. Bless Muhammad and the household of

Muhammad, complete Thy blessings upon us and
aid us in Thy obedience. Glory be to Thee! There is
no god but Thou. O God, truly Thou hearest the

destitute, removest the evil, succourest the
afflicted, healest the sick, enrichest the poor,
mendest the broken, hast mercy upon the young

and helpest the old. There is no Support other
than Thee and none powerful over Thee. And Thou
art the Sublime, the Great. O Freer of the prisoner

in irons! O Provider of the infant child O Protection

of the frightened refugee! O He who has no
associate and no assistant! Bless Muhammad and

the household of Muhammad, and give me this
evening the best of what Thou hast given to and
bestowed upon any of Thy servants, whether a
blessing Thou assignest, a bounty Thou renewest,

a trial Thou avertest, an affliction Thou removest,
a prayer Thou hearest, a good deed Thou

acceptest or an evil deed Thou overlookest. Truly
Thou art gracious, Aware of what Thou wilt, and
Powerful over all things! O God, truly Thou art the
nearest of those who are called, the swiftest of

those who answer, the most generous of those
who pardon, the most openhanded of those who

give and the most hearing of those who are asked
of. O Merciful and Compassionate in this world and
the next! Like Thee none is asked of; and other

than Thee none is hoped for. I prayed to Thee and
Thou answered me, I asked of Thee and Thou

gavest to me, I set Thee as my quest and Thou
hadst mercy upon me, I depended upon Thee and
Thou delivered me, I took refuge with Thee and

Thou sufficed me, O God, so bless Muhammad,
Thy servant, messenger and prophet, and his good
and pure household, all of them. And complete

Thy blessings upon us, gladden us with Thy gift
and inscribe us as those who thank Thee and
remember Thy bounties. Amen, amen, O Lord of

all beings! O God, O He who owned and then was
all-powerful, was all-powerful and then subjected,
was disobeyed and then veiled (the sin of

disobedience), and was prayed forgiveness and
then forgave. O Goal of yearning seekers and
utmost Wish of the hopeful! O He who

"encompasses everything in knowledge" (LXV,12)
and embraces those who seek pardon in
tenderness, mercy and clemency! O God, truly we

turn towards Thee this evening, which Thou

honored and glorified through Muhammad, Thy
prophet and messenger, the elect of Thy creation,

the faithful guardian of Thy-revelation which bears
good tidings and warning and which is the light-
giving lamp which Thou gavest to those who
surrender (al-muslimin) and appointed as a mercy

to the world's inhabitants. O God, so bless
Muhammad and the household of Muhammad, just

as Muhammad is worthy of that from Thee, O
Sublime! So bless him and his elect, good and
pure household, all of them, and encompass us in
Thy pardon, for to Thee cry voices in diverse

languages. So appoint for us a share this evening,
O God, of every good which Thou dividest among

Thy servants, every light by which Thou guidest,
every mercy which Thou spreadest, every blessing
which Thou sendest down, every well-being with

which Thou clothest and every provision which
Thou outspreadest. O Most merciful of the

merciful! O God, transform us now into men
successful, triumphant, pious, and prosperous. Set
us not among those who despair, empty us not of

Thy mercy, deprive us not of that bounty of Thine
for which we hope, and set us not among those
deprived of Thy mercy, nor those who despair of

the bounty of Thy gift for which we hope. Reject
us not with the disappointed, nor those driven
from Thy door. O Most Magnanimous of the most

magnanimous ! O Most Generous of the most
generous! Toward Thee we have turned having
sure faith, repairing to and bound for Thy Sacred

House. So help is with our holy rites, perfect for us
our pilgrimage, pardon us, and give us well-being,
for we have extended toward Thee our hands and

they are branded with the abasement of
confession. O God, so give us this evening what
we have asked of Thee and suffice us in that in

which we have prayed Thee to suffice us, for there

is none to suffice us apart from Thee and we have
no lord other than Thee. Put into effect concerning

us is Thy decision, encompassing us is Thy
knowledge and just for us is Thy decree. Decree
for us the good and place us among the people of
the good! O God make encumbent upon us

through Thy magnanimity the mightiest wage, the
most generous treasure and the lastingness of

ease. Forgive us our sins, all of them, destroy us
not with those who perish, and turn not Thy
tenderness and mercy away from us, O Most
Merciful of the merciful! O God, place us in this

hour among those who ask of Thee and to whom
Thou givest, who thank Thee and whom Thou

increasest, who turn to Thee in repentance and
whom Thou acceptest and who renounce all of
their sins before Thee and whom Thou forgivest, O

Lord of majesty and splendor! O God, purify us,
show us the right way and accept our entreaty. O

Best of those from whom is asked! And O Most
Merciful of those whose mercy is sought! O He
from whom is not hidden the eyelids' winking, the

eyes' glancing, that which rests in the concealed,
and that which is enfolded in hearts' hidden
secrets I What, has not all of that been reckoned

in Thy knowledge and embraced by Thy clemency?
Glory be to Thee and high indeed art Thou exalted
above what the evil-doers say! The seven heavens

and the earths and all that is therein praise Thee,
and there is not a thing but hymns Thy praise. So
Thine is the praise, the glory and the exaltation of

majesty, O Lord of majesty and splendor, of
bounty and blessing and of great favor! And Thou
art the Magnanimous, the Generous, the Tender,

the Compassionate. O God, give me amply of Thy
lawful provision, bestow upon me well-being in my
body and my religion, make me safe from fear and

deliver me from the Fire. O God, devise not

against me, lead me not on step by step, trick me
not and avert from me the evil of the ungodly

among jinn and men.
Then he lifted his head and eyes toward Heaven.
Tears were flowing from his blessed eyes as if they
were two waterskins, and he said in a loud voice:

O Most Hearing of those who hear! O Most Seeing
of those who behold! O Swiftest of reckoners! O

Most Merciful of the merciful! Bless Muhammad
and the household of Muhammad, the chiefs, the
fortunate. And, I ask of Thee, O God, my need. If
Thou grantest it to me, what Thou holdest back

from me will cause me no harm; and if Thou
holdest it back from me, what Thou grantest me

will not profit me. I ask Thee to deliver Irse from
the Fire. There is no god but Thou alone, Thou
hast no associate. Thine is the dominion, and

Thine is the praise, and Thou art powerful over
everything. O my Lord! O my Lord!

O God,
to Thee belongs praise!
Originator of the heavens and
the earth!
Possessor of majesty and
munificence!
Lord of lords!
Object of worship of every
worshiper!
Creator of every creature!
Inheritor of all things!201
There is nothing like Him,202
knowledge of nothing escapes
Him,203
He encompasses everything,204
and He is watchful over
everything.205
Thou art God,

there is no god but Thou,
the Unique, the Alone,
the Single, the Isolated.
Thou art God,

Bestowing,
the All-mighty, the Mightily
Exalted,
the Magnificent, the
Magnificently Magnified.
Thou art God,

the All-high, the Sublimely
High,
the Strong in prowess.
Thou art God,

the All-merciful, the All-
compassionate,
the All-knowing, the All-wise.
Thou art God,

the All-hearing, the All-seeing,
the Eternal, the All-aware.
Thou art God,

the Generous, the Most
Generous,
the Everlasting, the Most
Everlasting.
Thou art God,

the First before every one,
the Last after every number.
Thou art God,

the Close in His highness,
the High in His closeness.
Thou art God,

Possessor of radiance and

glory,
magnificence and praise.
Thou art God,

there is no god but Thou.
Thou hast brought forth the
things without root,
formed what Thou hast formed
without exemplar,
and originated the originated
things without limitation.
It is Thou
who hast ordained each thing
with an ordination,206
eased each thing with an
easing,207
and governed everything below
Thyself with a governing.208
It is Thou
whom no associate helps with
Thy creation
and no vizier aids in Thy
command.
Thou hast no witness and no
equal.
It is Thou
who willed,
and what Thou willed was
unfailing,
who decreed,
and what Thou decreed was
just,
who decided,
and what Thou decided was
fair.
It is Thou
whom place does not contain,
before whose authority no
authority stands up,
and whom no proof or

explication can thwart.
It is Thou
who hast counted everything in
numbers,209
appointed for everything a
term,
and ordained everything with
an ordination.
It is Thou
before whose selfness
imaginations fall short,
before whose howness
understandings have no
incapacity,
and the place of whose
whereness eyes perceive
not.210
It is Thou
who hast no bounds,
lest Thou be bounded,
who art not exemplified,
lest Thou be found,
who dost not beget,
lest Thou be begotten.211
It is Thou
with whom there is no opposite,
lest it contend with Thee,
who hast no equal,
lest it vie with Thee,
who hast no rival,
lest it resist Thee.
It is Thou
who art He who began, devised,
brought forth, originated,
and made well all that He
made.
Glory be to Thee!
How majestic is Thy station!

How high Thy place among the

places!
How cleanly Thy Separator
cleaves with the truth!212
Glory be to Thee!
The Gentle - how gentle Thou
art!
The Clement - how clement
Thou art!
The Wise - how knowing Thou
art!
Glory be to Thee!
The King - how invincible
Thou art!
The Munificent - how full of
plenty Thou art!
The Elevated - how elevated
Thou art!
Possessor of radiance and
glory,
magnificence and praise!
Glory be to Thee!
Thou hast stretched forth Thy
hand with good things,
and from Thee guidance has
come to be known,
so he who begs from Thee
religion or this world
will find Thee.
Glory be to Thee!
Whatever passes in Thy
knowledge is subjected to Thee,
all below Thy Throne are
humbled before Thy mightiness,
and every one of Thy creatures
follows Thee in submission.
Glory be to Thee!
Thou art not sensed, nor
touched,

Sahife Sajjadiya
nor felt, nor beguiled,

nor held back, nor challenged,
nor kept up with, nor resisted,
nor deceived, nor
circumvented.
Glory be to Thee!
Thy path is smooth ground,
Thy command right guidance,
and Thou art a living, eternal
refuge.
Glory be to Thee!
Thy word is decisive,
Thy decree unfailing,
Thy will resolute.
Glory be to Thee!
None can reject Thy wish,
none can change Thy
words.213
Glory be to Thee,
Outdazzling in signs,
Creator of the heavens,
Author of the spirits!
To Thee belongs praise,

a praise that will be permanent
with Thy permanence!

a praise everlasting through
Thy favour!

a praise that will parallel Thy
benefaction!

a praise that will increase Thy
good pleasure!

a praise along with the praise

Sahife Sajjadiya
of every praiser
and a thanksgiving before
which falls short
the thanksgiving of every
thanksgiver;
a praise which is suitable for

none but Thee
and through which nearness is
sought to none but Thee;
a praise which will make

permanent the first [bounty]
and call forth the permanence
of the last;
a praise which will multiply

through recurrence of times
and increase through
successive doublings;
a praise which the guardians

will not be able to number
and which exceeds what the
writers number in Thy
Book;214
a praise which will

counterbalance Thy glorious
Throne
and equal Thy elevated
Footstool;
a praise whose reward with
Thee will be complete
and whose recompense will
comprise every recompense;
a praise whose outward

conforms to its inward,
and whose inward conforms to
correct intention;
a praise with whose like no

creature has praised Thee

Sahife Sajjadiya
and whose excellence none

knows but Thou;
a praise in which he who

strives to multiply Thy praise
will be helped
and he who draws the bow to
the utmost in fulfilling it
will be confirmed;
a praise which will

gather all the praise which
Thou hast created
and tie together all which Thou
wilt afterwards create;
a praise than which no praise

is nearer to Thy word
and than which none is greater
from any who praise Thee;
a praise whose fullness will

obligate increase
through Thy generosity
and to which Thou wilt join
increase after increase
as graciousness from Thee;
a praise that will befit the

generosity of Thy face
and meet the might of Thy
majesty!
My Lord,
bless Muhammad and the
Household of Muhammad,
the distinguished, the chosen,
the honoured, the brought nigh,
with the most excellent of Thy
blessings,
benedict him
with the most complete of Thy
benedictions,
and have mercy upon him

with the most enjoyable of Thy

mercies!
My Lord,
bless Muhammad and his
Household
with a fruitful blessing,
more fruitful than which there
is no blessing!
Bless him
with a growing blessing,
more growing than which there
is no blessing!
And bless him
with a pleasing blessing,
beyond which there is no
blessing!
My Lord,
Household
with a blessing
which will please him
and increase his good pleasure!
Bless him
with a blessing
which will please Thee
and increase Thy good
pleasure toward him!
And bless him
with a blessing
through other than which Thou
wilt not be pleased for him,
and for which Thou seest no
one else worthy!
My Lord,
Household
with a blessing which will
pass beyond Thy good pleasure,
be continuous in its continuity
through Thy subsistence,
and never be spent,

Sahife Sajjadiya
just as Thy words will never be

spent!215
My Lord,
Household
with a blessing which will
tie together the blessings of
Thy angels, Thy prophets, Thy
messengers,
and those who obey Thee,
comprise the blessings of Thy
servants,
jinn or mankind,
and those worthy of Thy
response,
and bring together the blessings
of every one of the kinds of Thy
creatures
which Thou hast sown and
authored!
My Lord,
Household
with a blessing
which will encompass every
blessing,
bygone and new!
Bless him and his Household
with a blessing which
is pleasing to Thee
and everyone below Thee
and will bring forth with all
that
a blessing
with which Thou wilt multiply
those blessings
and increase them through the
recurrence of days
with an increasing in multiples
which none can count but
Thou!

Sahife Sajjadiya
My Lord,
bless the best of his Household,
those whom Thou hast
chosen for Thy command,
appointed the treasurers of Thy
knowledge,
the guardians of Thy religion,
Thy vicegerents in Thy earth,
and Thy arguments against Thy
servants,
purified from uncleanness and
defilement
through a purification by Thy
desire,216
and made the mediation to
Thee217
and the road to Thy Garden!
My Lord,
Household
with a blessing which
makes plentiful Thy gifts and
generosity,
perfects for them Thy
bestowals and awards,
and fills out their share of Thy
kindly acts and benefits!
My Lord,
bless him and his Household
with a blessing
whose first has no term,
whose term has no limit,
and whose last has no utmost
end!
My Lord,
bless them to
the weight of Thy Throne and
all below it,
the amount that fills the
heavens and all above them,

Sahife Sajjadiya
the number of Thy earths and

all below and between them,
a blessing that will bring them
near to Thee in proximity,
please Thee and them,
and be joined to its likes
forever!
O God,
surely Thou hast confirmed
Thy religion in all times
with an Imam whom Thou hast
set up
as a guidepost to Thy servants
and a lighthouse in Thy lands,
after his cord has been joined
to Thy cord!
Thou hast appointed him the
means to Thy good pleasure,
made obeying him obligatory,
cautioned against disobeying
him,
and commanded
following his commands,
abandoning his prohibitions,
and that no forward-goer go
ahead of him
or back-keeper keep back from
him!218
So he is the preservation of the
shelter-seekers,
the cave of the faithful,
the handhold of the adherents,
and the radiance of the worlds!
O God,
so inspire Thy guardian219 to
give thanks
for that in which Thou hast
favoured him,
inspire us with the like
concerning him,
grant him an authority from

Sahife Sajjadiya
Thee to help him,220

open for him an easy
opening,221
aid him with Thy mightiest
pillar,
brace up his back,222
strengthen his arm,223
guard him with Thy eye,
defend him with Thy
safeguarding,
help him with Thy angels,
and assist him with Thy most
victorious troops!224
Through him
establish Thy Book, Thy
bounds, Thy laws,
and the norms of Thy
Messenger's Sunna
(Thy blessings, O God,
be upon him and his
Household),
bring to life the guideposts of
Thy religion,
deadened by the wrongdoers,
burnish the rust of injustice
from Thy way,
sift the adversity from Thy road,
eliminate those who deviate
from Thy path,
and erase those who seek
crookedness in Thy
straightness!
Make his side mild toward Thy

friends,
stretch forth his hand over Thy
enemies,
give us
his clemency, his mercy,
his tenderness, his sympathy,
and make us
his hearers and obeyers,

Sahife Sajjadiya
strivers toward his good

pleasure,
assistants in helping him and
defending him,
and brought near through that
to Thee
and Thy Messenger
(Thy blessings, O God,
be upon him and his
Household).
O God,
and bless
the friends [of the Imams],
the confessors of their station,
the keepers to their course,
the pursuers of their tracks,
the clingers to their handhold,
the adherents to their
guardianship,225
the followers of their imamate,
the submitters to their
command,
the strivers to obey them,
the awaiters of their days,
the directors of their eyes
toward them,
with blessings blessed, pure,
growing,
fresh, and fragrant!
Give them and their spirits

peace,
bring together their affair in
reverential fear,
set right their situations,
turn toward them,
Surely Thou art Ever-turning,
All-compassionate226
and the Best of forgivers,
and place us with them in the

Sahife Sajjadiya
Abode of Peace,227
through Thy mercy,
O Most Merciful of the
merciful!
O God,
this is the Day of 'Arafa,
a day which Thou hast made
noble, given honour, and
magnified.
Within it Thou hast spread Thy
mercy,
showed kindness through Thy
pardon,
and made plentiful Thy giving,
and by it Thou hast been
bounteous toward Thy servants.
I am Thy servant whom Thou

favoured before creating him
and after creating him.
Thou madest him one of those
whom Thou
guided to Thy religion,
gavest success in fulfilling Thy
right,
preserved through Thy cord,
included within Thy party,
and directed aright to befriend
Thy friends
and show enmity to Thine
enemies.
Then Thou commanded him,

but he did not follow Thy
commands,
Thou restricted Him,
but he did not heed Thy
restrictions,
Thou prohibited him from
disobedience toward Thee,
but he broke Thy command by
doing what Thou hadst
prohibited,

Sahife Sajjadiya
not in contention with Thee,

nor to display pride toward
Thee;
on the contrary, his caprice228
called him
to that which Thou hadst set
apart and cautioned against,
and he was helped in that by
Thy enemy and his enemy.
So he went ahead with it
knowing Thy threat,
hoping for Thy pardon,
and relying upon Thy
forbearance,
though he was the most
obligated of Thy servants
- given Thy kindness toward
him -
not to do so.
Here I am, then, before Thee,

despised, lowly, humble,
abject, fearful,
confessing the dreadful sins
with which I am burdened
and the great offenses that I
have committed,
seeking sanctuary in Thy
forgiveness,
asking shelter in Thy mercy,
and certain that
no sanctuary-giver will give me
sanctuary from Thee
and no withholder will hold me
back from Thee.
So act kindly toward me,

just as Thou actest kindly
by Thy shielding him who
commits sins,
be munificent toward me,
just as Thou art munificent
by pardoning him who throws

Sahife Sajjadiya
himself before Thee,

and show kindness to me,
just as it is nothing great for
Thee to show kindness
by forgiving him who
expectantly hopes in Thee!
Appoint for me in this day an

allotment
through which I may attain
a share of Thy good pleasure,
and send me not back destitute
of that with which Thy
worshipers return
from among Thy servants!
Though I have not forwarded

the righteous deeds
which they have forwarded,
I have forwarded the
profession of Thy Unity
and the negation from Thee
of opposites, rivals, and
likenesses,
I have come to Thee by the
gateways
by which Thou hast commanded
that people come,
and I have sought nearness to
Thee
through that without seeking
nearness through which
none gains nearness to Thee.
Then I followed all this

with repeated turning toward
Thee,
lowliness and abasement
before Thee,
opinion of Thee,
and trust in what is with Thee;
and to that I coupled hope in
Thee,
since the one who hopes in

Sahife Sajjadiya
Thee
is seldom disappointed!
I asked Thee with the asking of

one
vile, lowly,
pitiful, poor,
fearful, seeking sanctuary;
all that in fear and pleading
seeking refuge and asking
shelter,
not presumptuous through the
pride of the proud,
nor exalting myself with the
boldness of the obedient,
nor presumptuous of the
intercession of the interceders.
For I am still the least of the

least
and the lowliest of the lowly,
like a dust mote or less!
O He who does not hurry the
evildoers
nor restrain those living in
ease!229
O He who shows kindness
through releasing the stumblers
and gratuitous bounty through
respiting the offenders!
I am the evildoer, the

confessor, the offender, the
stumbler!
I am he who was audacious

toward Thee as one insolent!
I am he who disobeyed Thee

with forethought!
I am he who hid myself from

Thy servants
and blatantly showed myself to

I am he who was awed by Thy

servants
and felt secure from Thee!
I am he who dreaded not Thy

penalty
and feared not Thy severity!
I am the offender against

himself!
I am the hostage to his own

affliction!
I am short in shame!
I am long in suffering!
By the right of him whom Thou

hast distinguished
among Thy creation
and by him whom Thou hast
chosen
for Thyself!
By the right of him whom Thou
hast selected
from among Thy creatures
and by him whom Thou hast
picked
for Thy task!
By the right of him the obeying
of whom Thou hast joined
to obeying Thee,
and by him the disobeying of
whom Thou hast made
like disobeying Thee!
And by the right of him whose
friendship Thou hast bound
to Thy friendship
and by him whose enmity Thou
hast linked
to Thine enmity!

Sahife Sajjadiya
Shield me in this day of mine,

by that through which Thou
shieldest
him who prays fervently to Thee
while disavowing
and him who seeks refuge in
Thy forgiveness
while repenting!
Attend to me
with that through which Thou
attendest to the people of
obedience toward Thee,
proximity to Thee,
and rank with Thee!
Single me out,
as Thou singlest him out who
fulfils Thy covenant,
fatigues himself for Thy sake
alone,
and exerts himself in Thy good
pleasure!
Take me not to task for

my neglect in respect to Thee,
my transgressing the limit in
Thy bounds,
and stepping outside Thy
ordinances!
Draw me not on little by little

by granting me a respite,231
like the drawing on little by
little
of him who withholds from me
the good he has
by not sharing with Thee in
letting favour down upon me!
Arouse me from
the sleep of the heedless,
the slumber of the prodigal,
and the dozing of the forsaken!

Take my heart to that in which

Thou hast
employed the devout,
enthralled the worshipers,
and rescued the remiss!
Give me refuge from that

which will
keep me far from Thee,
come between me and my
share from Thee,
and bar me from that which I
strive for in Thee!
Make easy for me

the road of good deeds toward
Thee,
racing to them from where
Thou hast commanded,
and coveting them as Thou
desirest!
Efface me not along with

those whom Thou effacest
for thinking lightly of what
Thou hast promised!
Destroy me not with

those whom Thou destroyest
for exposing themselves to Thy
hate!
Annihilate me not among

those whom Thou annihilatest
for deviating from Thy roads!
Deliver me from the floods of

trial,
save me from the gullets of
affliction,
and grant me sanctuary from
being seized by respite!232

Sahife Sajjadiya
Come between me and the

enemy who misguides me,
the caprice which ruins me,
and the failing which
overcomes me!
Turn not away from me

with the turning away in wrath
from one with whom Thou art
not pleased!
Let me not lose heart in

expecting from Thee,
lest I be overcome by despair
of Thy mercy!
Grant me not that which I

cannot endure,
lest Thou weighest me down
with the surplus of Thy love
which Thou loadest upon me!
Send me not from Thy hand,

the sending of him who
possesses no good,
toward whom Thou hast no
need,
and who turns not back [to
Thee]!
Cast me not with the casting of

him who has
fallen from the eye of Thy
regard
and been wrapped in
degradation from Thee!
Rather take my hand [and save
me] from
the falling of the stumblers,
the disquiet of the deviators,
the slip of those deluded,
and the plight of the perishers!
Release me from that with

Sahife Sajjadiya
which Thou hast afflicted

the ranks of Thy servants and
handmaids
and make me reach the utmost
degrees of him
about whom Thou art
concerned,
towards whom Thou showest
favour,
and with whom Thou art
pleased,
so that Thou lettest him live as
one praiseworthy
and takest him to Thee as one
felicitous!
Collar me with the collar of

abstaining from that which
makes good deeds fail
and takes away blessings!
Impart to my heart restraint

before
ugly works of evil
and disgraceful misdeeds!
Divert me not
by that which I cannot reach
except through Thee
from doing that which alone
makes Thee pleased with me!

love of this vile world,
which keeps from everything
which is with Thee,
bars from seeking the
mediation to Thee,234
and distracts from striving for
nearness to Thee!
Embellish for me solitude

in prayer whispered to Thee

by night and by day!
Give me a preservation which

will
bring me close to dread of
Thee,
cut me off from committing
things made unlawful by Thee,
and spare me from captivation
by dreadful sins!
Give me purification from the

defilement of disobedience,
take away from me the filth of
offenses,
dress me in the dress of Thy
well-being,
cloak me in the cloak of Thy
release,
wrap me in Thy ample favours,
and clothe me in Thy bounty
and Thy graciousness!
Strengthen me with Thy giving

success
and Thy pointing the right way,
help me toward righteous
intention,
pleasing words,
and approved works, and
entrust me not to my force and
my strength
in place of Thy force and Thy
strength!
Degrade me not on the day

Thou raisest me up to meet
Thee,
disgrace me not before Thy
friends,
make me not forget
remembering Thee,
take not away from me
thanking Thee,

Sahife Sajjadiya
but enjoin it upon me in states

of inattention
when the ignorant are heedless
of Thy boons,
and inspire me to
laud what Thou hast done for
me
and confess to what Thou hast
conferred upon me!
Place my beseeching Thee

above the beseeching of the
beseechers
and my praise of Thee above
the praise of the praisers!
Abandon me not with my

neediness for Thee,
destroy me not for what I have
done for Thee,235
and slap not my brow with that
with which
Thou slappest the brow of
those who contend with Thee,
for I am submitted to Thee.
I know
that the argument is Thine,
that Thou art closest to bounty,
most accustomed to
beneficence,
worthy of reverent fear,
and worthy of forgiveness,236
that Thou art closer to
pardoning
than to punishing,
and that Thou art nearer to
covering over
than to making notorious!
Let me live an agreeable life

that will tie together what I
want
and reach what I love
while I not bring what Thou

dislikest
and not commit what Thou hast
prohibited;
and make me die the death of
him
whose light runs before him
and on his right hand!237
Abase me before Thyself

and exalt me before Thy
creatures,
lower me when I am alone with
Thee
and raise me among Thy
servants,
free me from need for him who
has no need of me
and increase me in neediness
and poverty toward Thee!
Give me refuge from

the gloating of enemies,
the arrival of affliction,
lowliness and suffering!
Shield me in what Thou seest
from me,
the shielding of him who
would have power over
violence
had he no clemency,
and would seize for misdeeds
had he no lack of haste!
When Thou desirest for a

people a trial or an evil,
deliver me from it, for I seek
Thy shelter;
and since Thou hast not stood
me in the station of disgrace
in this world of Thine,
stand me not in such a station
in the next world of Thine!
Couple for me the beginnings

Sahife Sajjadiya
of Thy kindnesses with their

ends
and the ancient of Thy benefits
with the freshly risen!
Prolong not my term with a
prolonging
through which my heart will
harden!238
Strike me not with a striking
that will take away my
radiance!239
Visit me not with
a meanness that will diminish
my worth
or a decency that will keep my
rank unknown!
Frighten me not
with a fright by which I will
despair
or a terror through which I will
dread,
but make me
stand in awe of Thy threat,
take precautions against Thy
leaving no excuses240
and Thy warning,
and tremble at the recitation of
Thy verses!
Fill my night with life by

keeping me awake therein for
worshipping Thee,
solitude with vigil for Thee,
exclusive devotion to reliance
upon Thee,
setting my needs before Thee,
and imploring that Thou wilt
set my neck free from the Fire
and grant me sanctuary from
Thy chastisement,
within which its inhabitants
dwell!

Leave me not
blindly wandering in my
insolence241
or inattentive in my perplexity
for a time,242
make me not
an admonition to him who
takes admonishment,
a punishment exemplary for
him who takes heed,
a trial for him who observes,
devise not against me along
with those against whom Thou
devisest,
replace me not with another,
change not my name,243
transform not my body,244
appoint me not
a mockery for Thy creatures,
a laughing-stock for Thyself,
a follower of anything but Thy
good pleasure,
a menial servant for anything
but avenging Thee!
Let me find
the coolness of Thy pardon
and the sweetness of
Thy mercy,
Thy repose,
Thy ease,
and the garden of Thy bliss!245
Let me taste,
through some of Thy boundless
plenty,
the flavour of
being free for what Thou lovest
and striving in what brings
about proximity
with Thee and to Thee,
and give me a gift from among
Thy gifts!

Make my commerce
profitable246
and my return without loss,247
fill me with fear of Thy station,
make me yearn for the meeting
with Thee,
and allow me to repent with an
unswerving repentance
along with which Thou lettest
no sins remain,
small or large,
and leavest no wrongs, open or
secret!
Root out rancour toward the

faithful from my breast,248
bend my heart toward the
humble,
be toward me as Thou art
toward the righteous,
adorn me with the adornment
of the godfearing,
appoint for me
a goodly report249 among
those yet to come
and a growing remembrance
among the later folk,
and take me to the plain of
those who came first!250
Complete the lavishness of Thy

favour upon me,
clothe me in its repeated
generosities,
fill my hand with Thy benefits,
drive Thy generous gifts to me,
make me the neighbour of the
best of Thy friends
in the Gardens which Thou
hast adorned for Thy chosen,
and wrap me in Thy noble
presents
in the stations prepared for

Thy beloveds!
Appoint for me
a resting place with Thee
where I may seek haven in
serenity,
and a resort to which I may
revert
and rest my eyes,
weigh not against me my
dreadful misdeeds,
destroy me not on the day the
secrets are tried,251
eliminate from me every doubt
and uncertainty,
appoint for me a way in the
truth from every mercy,
make plentiful for me the
portions of gifts
from Thy granting of awards,
and fill out for me the shares of
beneficence
from Thy bestowal of bounty!
Make my heart trust in what is

with Thee
and my concern free for what
is Thine,
employ me in that in which
Thou employest Thy pure
friends,
drench my heart with Thy
obedience when intellects are
distracted,
and combine within me
independence, continence,
ease, release,
health, plenty,
tranquillity, and well being!
Make not fail

my good deeds
through my disobedience that
stains them

Sahife Sajjadiya
or my private times of worship

through the instigations of Thy
trial!
Safeguard my face from asking
from anyone in the world,
and drive me far from begging
for that which is with the
ungodly!
Make me not an aid to the

wrongdoers,
nor their hand and helper in
erasing Thy Book!
Defend me whence I know not
with a defense
through which Thou protectest
me!
Open toward me the gates of
Thy repentance, Thy mercy,
Thy clemency, and Thy
boundless provision!
Surely I am one of those who
beseech Thee!
And complete Thy favour
toward me!
Surely Thou art the best of
those who show favour!
Place the rest of my life in the

hajj and the 'umra
seeking Thy face,
O Lord of the worlds!
And may God bless
Muhammad and his
Household, the good, the pure,
and peace be upon him and
them always and forever!

b. Dua after taking Ghusl – Wearing Ehram:

I commence by the name of Allah and seek help from

Him. O Allah render this ghusl an illumination for me and

cure for all ills. O Allah! Purify me and my heart, broaden

me but You and I know that my religion is submission to

BISMILLAHI WABILLAHI ALLAHUMMAJALHU FII NURAN WATAHUZAN

3. When wearing the two clothes of Ehram recite this dua:

All praise to Allah who has graced me with clothes to

cover my body, perform my duties, worship my Sustainer

Allah who, when I directed my course towards Him,

assisted me, drew me closer and did not shatter me;

when I sought His pleasure, granted me peace. He is my

and my provider in times of hardship and comfort

AL-HAMDULILLAHI-LAZI RAZAQANI MA UWARII BIHI AWRATII WAUADDII

O Allah! Include me among those who have responded

command, for I am Your slave in Your confinement. I

cannot be saved, except by You and cannot take,

and the practices of Your Prophet (s.a.w.). Grant me

strength where I am weak and that I may perform

Include me among those whose arrival pleases You,

You are pleased with, You call by name and have

spent my property to attain Your pleasure. O Allah!

Accomplish my hajj and Umrah. O Allah! In compliance
