Projects @ Roots Commune!
THE HYDERABAD FILM PROJECT

The Hyderabad Film Project is dedicated to creating a first of its

kind collaborative feature film by bringing together independent
filmmakers, film-school students and interns from various parts of
India and abroad to volunteer their talents, efforts and resources
and create a multi-director, crowd-sourced feature film in the city
of hyderabad.

With over 15 film makers from

all over the world
collaborating with the best of
the city's talent in film making,
acting and music creating a
film experience like never
before, the project also
involves a month long hands-
on and production oriented
crash course in writing and
directing film, with the
objective of empowering its
participants with the
immediate action of working in
teams to write and direct a
segment of the overall project.
The four or more intersecting
stories thus made will be
edited into one feature length
film which will be ready for a
festival release.

The project will explore through its narratives several issues of social
concern that affect the city viz. communal harmony, gender discrimination,
child abuse and section 377 etc, with each of them constituting the central
theme of a segment of the film. The project will also facilitate the film
makers to engage critically with the issues through workshops and
attachments with various Non Profit and Social Organizations, and
encourage them to use their experiences, research and several inspiring
human-impact stories to write the film.
