SUPREME STUDENT GOVERNMENT ELECTION 2015


NARRATIVE REPORT

As per DepEd Manila Memorandum No. 60 series of 2015, the Synchronized


Election of the Supreme Student Government was held on February 26, 2015. In
preparation for this election, the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) and Commission
on Elections (SSG COMELEC) were formed on January 26, 2015. The duties and
responsibilities of BEI and ELECOM were discussed by Mr. Menandro Asi, the SSG-
COMELEC adviser. It was agreed upon that all of the members of the BEI and SSG-
COMELEC will be at the SSG room during their vacant and dismissal to prepare the
materials needed for the election such as certificate of candidacy (CoC), ballot box,
list of voters, tally sheet, tally board and official ballot. The list of students per year
level/list of voters per precinct/reference for the number of official ballots was
prepared. Based from the data gathered, through the help of the Curriculum
Chairmen, there were 1285 voters.

While preparing to accomplish this, some members were prepared to


reconstruct existing ballot boxes. There were two ballot boxes for each level. Aside
from the previous tasks given, some members of BEI and ELECOM were assigned to
prepare Certificate of Candidacy (CoC) that will be used to screen the qualification
of each candidate for each position. On January 29, students were informed about
the coming election and the requirements/ qualifications to run for the respective
positions. Dates to remember was posted as additional information for the
election. January 30 to February 3, students who were interested to run for a
position were required to file their certificate of candidacy to the SSG COMELEC.
Evaluation of the CoC was on February 10-12. After the screening, two parties were
formed namely the PUNK (Pag-unlad Unti-unti Nating Kamtan) and PARA (Punctual
and Responsible Association), together with them who also passed the screening
are two independent candidates, Alexandra Sotto running for Public Information
Officer, and Aldream Viernes running for Peace Officer. The two parties and the
independent candidates were presented to the students during the morning
assembly on Monday, February 16.

The campaign period started from February 16-20, for a smooth room to
room campaign; parties were given schedule of the Social Studies teachers classes
where they did the campaign. Presidential and Vice Presidential debate was held at
the Conference Room at 12:00 noon on February 24 with the topic Nakabubuti ba
ang paggamit ng Social Media sa Pag-aaral ng mga Estudyante?, with two
representatives per section from grade seven to third year were the audience,
students without classes at that time were also encourage to watch the debate.

The smooth election was conducted on Thursday, February 26; teachers were
informed about the schedule of the students to cast their votes thru their respective
Curriculum Chairmen and the schedule for students to cast their votes were posted
in front of the guidance office ahead of time. Precinct 1 and 2 for the grade seven
was at the stage, Precinct 3 and 4 for the second year in front of the grotto at the
quadrangle and Precinct 5 and 6 for the third year, in front of the Dental Clinic.

The procedure followed for the election was: 1. Look for the name of the
student in the list/book of voters; 2. Sign the book of votes simultaneous with the
thumb printing; 3. Issuance of official ballot; 4. Casting of votes; 5. Put the official
ballot inside the ballot box and have the finger marked by the indelible ink before
leaving the polling precinct. After casting of votes, students were instructed to leave
the polling precinct and returned to their respective classes.

The casting of votes started at 7:00 in the morning until 2:30 in the
afternoon. The counting of ballots started at 3:00 until 5:00 in the afternoon. Based
on the consolidated tally sheet, the elected SSG Officials for SY 2013-2014 are the
