Last Week...

Only four words: Don’t Hurry, Be Calm! It’s a motto of our investing
strategy.
As we have said, one of the resistance’s levels was overcome. Now the next
level on the turn. We can only wait…

Macroeconomics and Events

The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) released their latest Housing
Market Index (HMI) showing a continued pullback for all measures as home builders
downwardly adjusted their outlook in the wake of the home "buyer" tax credit
expiration.

China is slowing. That’s good news. DON’T paint a snake with legs, the Chinese will
say, when someone is in danger of spoiling something by overdoing it. For months
China’s policymakers have been trying to slow the country’s economy, which grew
venomously in the year to the first quarter.

The index that measures bulk-shipping rates has fallen off a cliff. FOR most of the
past two decades the main measure of shipping costs has been used as a guide to
what is happening to world trade. So the fact that the Baltic Dry Index—which
measures the rates charged for chartering the giant ships that carry coal, iron ore and
grain—has fallen by almost 60% in its longest streak of consecutive declines for nine
years (34 days running as of July 14th) has won attention.

Ground-breaking on new housing units fell sharply after a federal tax credit for
buyers expired, putting the housing sector back in the dumps where it was a year ago,
according to Commerce Department data released Tuesday.

Borrowing by Britain's public sector topped forecasts in June as growth in tax

receipts slowed, government data showed Tuesday. The Office for National Statistics
said public sector net borrowing totaled 14.5 billion pounds ($22.2 billion), down
from £14.7 billion in June 2009. The figure topped estimates for a borrowing
requirement of £13.5 billion.

U.S. home builders are turning increasingly pessimistic about their business after
home sales dried up when a federal subsidy expired, according to the latest survey by
the National Association of Home Builders.

The Consumer Price Index declined 0.1 percent last month, following a 0.2 percent
fall in May and a 0.1 percent drop in April. This suggests that the Fed hasn't
completely removed deflation risks.

Insecure about your finances? You're not alone. Economic insecurity in the U.S. is at

Rockefeller Foundation, and Jacob Hacker, a political science professor at Yale
University.

Euro-zone data released Thursday offered further evidence the region's recovery
remains on track despite the sovereign-debt crisis, with a gauge of July private-sector
activity rebounding unexpectedly to a three-month high and a measure of May
industrial orders showing an unexpected rise.

The Senate gave final approval Wednesday evening to legislation providing added
unemployment benefits through November to millions of Americans who have been
out of work for six months or more, ending a politically charged fight.

Slower economic growth is expected through the fall, with moderating improvement
in the industrial core of the economy, and little indication that the slow improvement
in the services sector will "pick up momentum," the Conference Board reported
Thursday.

The World Cup in South Africa boosted British retail sales in June, government data
showed Thursday, and England's early exit may have actually worked in retailers'
favor.

The number of people submitting initial applications for state unemployment

insurance benefits jumped 37,000 to stand at a higher-than-expected 464,000 last
week, the Labor Department reported Thursday.

Stock Market Forecast – Strong Stocks Today

In the stock market it’s not impossible to watch a stock move up dramatically
in a matter of hours or days. Investors and traders can make great money and
fatten their wallets every time this happens.

This seems great for every one that wants to try their fortune in the stock
market, but the problem is that if you don’t know what stocks to look for and
how to properly approach them you could end up wasting cash instead of
making your profits grow. That’s why the most important aspect of stock
trading is the knowledge FILTER you employ to make your buy and sell
decisions.

There are many “fantastic” stock systems and trading software out there, but
you need to test them in order to discover which ones help you the most.
That’s part of your homework as a stock trader. Test, test and test again.

Complicated stock trading strategies that rely on a “boat load” of technical

analysis indicators can make you slow, and being slow when trading stocks
can be as dangerous as not knowing what to do in the first place.

Education

While not a biographer by trade, Niall Ferguson, the prolific professor of

financial history at Harvard University, has managed to write a biography
about a man who is most certainly less famous than he. In High Financier:
The Lives and Time of Siegmund Warburg, Ferguson eschews the
gravitational pull of the stars of the 20th century – Churchill, Stalin,
Roosevelt, JFK, etc. – to inspect the life (or lives, as he so deftly attests) of a
man whose life’s work proves to be decidedly less interesting than an eager
reader would hope…
