LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS REFLECTIVE ESSAY

When it comes to group work, I know some of us have had issues with a member not
doing their job and causing for the whole group to fail at their assignment. For this particular
analysis I felt really comfortable. Since the beginning of the project we all laid out our ideas and
thoughts and listened to each other and took into consideration the experiences they had at each
restaurant. There was always communication within the members of my group, the one thing we
didnt want to do is divide the work and work on in separately, we worked on it together going
over each others ideas and putting it all together. I feel we exposed all areas of all three
restaurants in detail.
I want to say the main issue we had was putting all the work together in order for it to go
by smoothly. We had everything down but it was mainly ideas and points from all three
restaurants (Julios Caf Corona, Andale, and Ojos Locos) how we should organize it, where to
begin, and how to address ourselves to a specific audience in a respectable manner which in this
case was for Julios caf. The writing process got difficult because we had to keep reminding
ourselves of the certain audience we were targeting, and how our criticism could help the
restaurant.
The changes we did throughout the research started at the beginning when we were
bouncing back from restaurant to restaurant and choosing the one that was right for this project
and that would provide us with the information we needed to use towards the landscape analysis.
We started out by focusing and comparing and contrasting all three restaurants emphasizing on
what they had and didnt have, rather than being informative about Julios and comparing it to
the other two. A way that I feel it could have been more effective is if we had gone together as a
group and experienced this first hand, to see for ourselves the atmosphere and why people felt
the way they felt on their reviews on their pages. All of the members of my groups have heard
about all three restaurants but only one of us had actually visited them.
Overall, the experience I got from this project is how diverse and at the same time our
city is. With such a beautiful culture like Mexicos, not a lot of people get to experience their
traditions, their people and most importantly their food. Although these restaurants are a small
piece of the real thing that goes on within the streets of Mexico, we get to have a piece of it.
Living in the borderland it is expected for many of Juarezs traditions and cultures to pass onto
our city. Not just Mexican, but we see a diverse mix of people from Cuba, Puerto Rico, El
Salvador, Honduras, and many other we see around El Paso. These restaurants all represent the
Mexican tradition in their own way, the way they grew up in, the only way the know-how, and
with that they also integrate part of our American culture, they may all be different but at the end
of the say they all have the same similarity.
