Abstracts
The purpose of this paper is to understand the meaning of the influence of music towards people.
Of course, some music (or genres) introduce certain outcomes towards a person and some done.
So there is a double aspect to it. Music does of course bring many things into play to which it is
greatly over viewed or simple it is not viewed completely. The questions towards this essay are

Introduction
The most influential thing in this world, is music. Many people claim that music is just
noise with no actual meaning, that its just nonsense people listen to, and serves no real value.
These people have a point, but they just havent heard the right song. Music can be compared to
a multi-tool kit-in the sense that, music can be used in various ways. From calming someone
down to getting people happy and relaxed. They even offer classes for, music appreciation, so
you can understand the music you listen to. They analyze songs and see just how they affect you
and make you feel. Although, even with those classes, some people still feel that music is not a
Music appreciation, is the act of analyzing, combing through, and studying music.
Although many people feel like a music appreciation class, or anything remotely related to it, is a
piece of cake, its actually a very hard thing to do. The reason being, you have to actually take
the time to hear the song multiple times before writing your response. No song will ever be
understood in just one playing, every song is different and every genre is a whole different story.
One song could make you feel like youre broken and in need of acceptance, but another song
would make you feel like the world owes you something. No two songs are alike, and theres a
huge reason for that, every artist thinks differently, and if two have the same idea, they can
portray it in two different ways. Music appreciation is something that only a few people will

understand and take something away from it, other people will do the bare minimum of the work
and not learn a single thing. The reason we need to appreciate music and understand it is
because, it could be used to persuade a group of people to believe what you believe, and let them
see how you feel about a subject. Maybe appreciating music isnt a huge thing and is to be
expected of someone, but it isnt a bad thing to be able to do. It wont necessarily be used in the
real world unless, you yourself will be pursuing a career in the music industry. There's a good
and bad to it, the good being, you could become a more open person and understand people's
views and emotions based on what they listen to. The bad, no one really needs to understand
music for them to prosper in the world. Yan Dominic Searcy said Many rappers grew up amid
violence, police harassment, poverty, drugs and promiscuity. Rappers will tell you they rap about
what they know. If the community wants to change rap lyrics, the community must change
Adding to the fact that music can have multiple meanings and can be very deep at times,
it can also affect a person greatly. Music has a very unique way of reaching out to people and
making them feel a certain way. In the metal community a lot of people are very reckless and
heavy hitting, and in another community it could be very different. Communities being the
people who follow the genre, and attend those types of concerts or raves. Considering the fact
that there are multiple genres, there are also multiple communities that follow each one, and each
community has a different vibe and different type of rules. Such as in the Metal community,

everyone is reckless and the more mayhem the better, but then you observe the people who
follow the Electro Dance Music community and you see signs of P.L.U.R meaning Peace, Love,
Unity, and Respect, so its completely opposite from the Metal community. Music affects people
by way of rhythm, lyrics, tempo, and how it is executed. Rhythm being how it is, if its an easy
melody, that has a 4/4 beat to it, it will be a simple song not necessarily enraging people but,
relaxing them. Then you go into a song with a more intense rhythm, and it changes from a 4/4
tempo, to a 8/16 tempo, meaning everything is faster, and it gets the heart racing. Thereafter, you
see the rhythm, and how it is, you see the tempo and if its a simple slow song, or if its a fast
paced song with multiple instruments, and a voice over on it. Mentioning the voice, after rhythm
is probably the most essential thing in any song, is the lyrics. now, the lyrics vary in such a huge
way from genre to genre. You could have a Heavy Metal person singing about death and very
dark things, but then you look at a rap artist and hes talking about his reality and what he lives
through day to day. It could be him rapping about drugs and people getting shot, or it could be
him rapping about a theme of money, cars, and women. So even though he is a rapper, he can
talk about different things, and that is where sub-genres come in. So lyrics could vary and can
persuade people to see things the way the singer or the rapper does. Not only can a singer or
lyricist do this, but also Disc Jockeys, can create feelings and make people move to a beat in a
certain way. We have progressed far enough as people, and have become so much more open
that, we dont even need words to create feeling, all we need is a 4 to the floor beat and a
kickdrum. Now we stem away from the lyrics and tempos and the technicalities of it, and go to
the execution of a song, actually no, not even the song execution, but the way the words and
beats are executed and shown. If a word or beat is executed poorly, then it ruins the momentum

of the song, and it ruins the climax, in a way its anticlimactic, in the sense that, the action is
executed poorly, why should I look forward to the rest? Dont get me wrong lyrics, tempo, and
all the other stuff is necessary but, with a poor execution it is worth nothing. Everything else just
loses its

song at that. All these things and more are what affect a person, its what makes a person skip to
work, or dread it. Music is so effective to the person that, just by playing a song someone can
recall memories, and being in a different time of their life, and feeling different emotions.
people
Now, many people in the public education system feel as though music is not a necessary
subject and should not be a requirement to graduate from high school, but these people do not
see the benefit of having this class even though there are huge benefits. Not only does music
connect people, it helps them relate to each other. You get someone listening to super depressing
music and you get someone else listening to the same thing, and boom, you have a connection
between two people, that will either flourish and become something beautiful, or it could just be
nothing, and that is beautiful. That is why it is needed in the school setting. In a place where
emotions run high, and the decisions become more heavy, you need something to relieve that
stress, and not every kid can do a sport, so why not let them do music? Let them use an
instrument, and grow a love-hate relationship with music. Let them become involved in a world
where you can learn an entirely new language from Beethoven, Bach, Debussy, and so many
other composers. They dont even need to learn from the classics, they could start with modern
day bands, and they can learn songs for themselves, and then maybe someday, they could
compose music their own. But the people, they think differently than musicians who see music as
beauty, they see it as just something to kill time, as a background noise that no one really knows
is there. They think its pointless to have their child in choir or in band, theyd rather have them
do some type of sport, which is terrible, because not every child goes on to be a pro player, at
least with music, you can play for people and dont need to have a huge crowd, it could be just
with friends. With sports you have to go to a field or court, with music you could sing wherever,
or you could just bring out an instrument from its case. Although, kids in schools should focus
more on their core subjects and develop a love for them, they should also have an option to love
something else.

Conclusion
All in all, music may not be an amazing thing for everybody but, it shouldnt be
something that isnt as important as most things in this society. Yes, music doesnt necessarily
help you go up in the world, but it is better to understand it, than to not even have an idea about
it. Music is a creative source, that grows your mind. It helps you process more, concentrate, and
it gives you a new perspective. Looking at the positive attributes to appreciating music, it has so
many that they can outweigh the negatives. The negative aspect of it would be, it doesnt always
help you concentrate, sometimes it may distract you from whatever youre doing. Other times
music can be a very stressful thing to do, and not everybody will be able to handle the
breakdowns, tears, and challenges that come with wanting to do music, and understand it. Even
trying to understand the lyrics to a song or feeling the beat, isnt a common task that anyone can
do. Thats the main negative, everybody can not do it. Then again you view the public education
system and music is deemed lower than every other subject, even sports, and you see why it is so
hard to be in the choir or band. It isnt for everybody, but everybody can appreciate it.
