Distributed Architecture
In the distributed architecture, the BBU and RRU of an DBS3900 are separately
deployed and connected through fibers. This minimizes feeder loss and improves
eNodeB coverage. The distributed BBU + RRU architecture allows RRUs to be
mounted on walls or to poles, enabling zero footprint site deployment. As a result,
network deployment costs can be reduced by more than 30% and network deployment
efficiency is significantly improved.
Excellent Performance
Maximum bit rates per cell are up to100 Mbit/s downlink and 50 Mbit/s uplink over 20
MHz wide channels. The excellent performance can help customers preempt the
commanding elevations of the professional mobile broadband industry and get rapid
service expansion.
Flexible Networking
The DBS3900 supports varied frequency bands, enabling customers to provide
services over both readily and newly available frequency bands. Customers can utilize
more than two frequency bands on one wireless network based on the availability of
frequency resources in different areas.
Anti-network Paralysis
The DBS3900 support Fallback mode. When the Core Network Device is down, the
eBBU starts the CNPU which works as a Core Network; it will ensure that all the
services under the eNodeB work normal.
2 Product Structure
2.1 Overview
The DBS3900 features a distributed architecture and is comprised of two types of
basic modules: eBBU (enterprise BaseBand control Unit) and eRRU (enterprise
Remote Radio Unit). The eBBU and eRRU transmit CPRI signals via fiber optic
cables that connect them through common public radio interface (CPRI) ports. This
kind of architecture satisfies the requirements of setting up enterprise wireless
communication networks.
1. eBBU exterior
The eBBU has a compact case structure measuring 19 inches wide and 2U high.
Figure 2-1 shows the eBBU exterior.
Note:
Fallback mode means that when the Core Network Device is down, the eBBU starts
the CNPU which works as a Core Network, it will ensure that all the services under
the eNodeB work normal. CNPU is an optional board.

2.2.2 eRRU
One or more eRRU constitute the radio frequency (RF) part of a distributed base
station. eRRUs can be installed on a pole, wall, or stand. They can also be installed
close to antennas to shorten the feeder length, reduce feeder loss, and improve system
coverage. eRRUs serve to modulate and demodulate baseband signals and RF signals,
process data, amplify power and detect standing waves.
To meet the needs of different application scenarios, the solution provides a variety of
eRRU, including:
eRRU3232: 1.8GHz (1785MHz to 1805MHz), 4 PATH, is mainly applied in
outdoor macro base stations;
eRRU3253: 1.4GHz (1447MHz to 1467MHz), 8 PATH, is mainly applied in
government networks;
eRRU3255: 400M (380MHz to 400MHz), 2 PATH, is mainly applied in outdoor
scenario, also can be applied in indoor scenario;
eRRU3251: 1.8GHz (1785MHz to 1805MHz), 2 PATH, is mainly applied in
indoor coverage and linear coverage situations, eg. railway, subway, mine;
eRRU3222: 800MHz (Download 791 MHz to 821 MHz, Upload 832 MHz to
862MHz), 2 PATH, is mainly applied in 800MHz outdoor macro base stations;
eRRU3252: 2.3G2300MHz to 2400MHz, 4path.
Customers can choose to apply different eRRUs according to the frequency band
available to them.

Figure 2-6 shows the eRRU3255 exterior. Figure 2-7 shows the eRRU3251 exterior.
2. Ports on an eRRU
An eRRU has a modular structure. Its external ports are located in the cabling cavity at
the bottom of the module. Table 2-3 and Table 2-4 describe the ports on eRRU3232.
Table 2-5 describes the ports on eRRU3253. Table 2-6 describes the ports on
eRRU3255. Table 2-7 describes the ports on eRRU3251. Table 2-8 describes the ports
on eRRU3222. Table 2-9 describes the ports on eRRU3252.
3 Installation Scenarios
Typical installation scenarios for the DBS3900 are classified into outdoor and indoor
installation scenarios, as shown in Figure 3-1 and Figure 3-2.
If the DBS3900 is deployed indoors, the BBU can be installed in a 19-inch cabinet or
rack,, in an Indoor Mini Box (IMB03), or on the wall. The eBBU is able to use the
power supply system and transmission system ofthe existing network.

5.1 Overview
The DBS3900 supports the O&M system that is based on the man-machine language
(MML) and the graphic user interface (GUI). The O&M system enables a
hardware-independent O&M mechanism and provides powerful O&M functions for
users to meet various O&M requirements.
5.2 Characteristics
Robust Hardware Management, Rapid Fault Location and Rectification
DBS3900 hardware management provides prewarning mechanism and resetting
mechanism to make sure sufficient time are left for troubleshooting before service
interruptions. Recovery can be implemented by resetting to avoid severe accidents in
case faults cannot be cleared in time. When a hardware fault occurs, the DBS3900
alerts the user by generating alarms and flashing indicators and provides suggestions to
guide the user in troubleshooting. After the fault is recovered, the alarm is cleared.
