EX 10 PA Office Dealing with a Crisis Situation

You will work in groups

Task: Your task is to organize a suitable PA event in accordance with the

given scenario, to invite the journalists properly and make sure the entire
event is carefully planned and executed. Your group represents the Public
Affairs Office of the Armed Forces of Beyond Land, which has received the
information in the scenario below and is expected to plan its
communication with regard to the incident.

Arrange the space in the room appropriately for the PA event and have
close communication with the journalists.

The role of the journalists is going to be played by the trainers. The PA

event is going to be recorded and you are going to receive feedback on
your performance.

Scenario Ex 10:

Beyond Land, Supernova, 6 April 2017 - Two MiG-21 aircraft of our Air
Force collided in the sky of the city of Stars today, at approximately 08.40
hours creating panic in nearby villages. The two pilots were seen ejecting
from the aircraft without apparent care about where they would land. They
only suffered small injuries and are being treated at the hospital of
Supernova. Military police prevented our reporters from talking to them and
refused to provide their names.

One peasant from the Village of Moonlight Hills was taken to the hospital in
Moon with serious injuries. Doctors said he was hit by multiple metal objects
and refused to release his prognosis.

Sources say that the aircrafts were dog-fighting over inhabited areas before
the accident.

There has been no official statement so far from the Ministry of Defence and
many questions remain unanswered. The Green Party released a statement
requesting an immediate parliamentary investigation on the air force training
procedures and on the appropriateness of flying old aircraft over inhabited
areas, with undue risks and unjustified costs. Both the Defence Minister and
the Air Force Chief of Staff should resign.

Police and military police have secured the accident site and surrounding
area, since this is an area where there are mines left from the Big war, even
if no restriction was applied before in the same area.
