Abstract: Perspicacity on the Criteria, Reality, and

Expectations during Structural Leader Election amongst the

Academia within the State University of Malang. The State
University of Malang (Indonesian: Universitas Negeri Malang) sought
to generate intellectual, ethical, civilised, and self-sufficient
graduates who were able to advance professionally and active in
creating academic writings and creative thinking. These graduates
would ultimately be the engine to improving the effectiveness and
the efficiency of their institution to ascertain the quality
development of the three fundamental principles of a sustainable
higher education body (Indonesian: Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi).
Needless to say, the endeavour required human resources, a firm
organisation, and an outstanding leadership. Here, the perspicacity
on electing structural leaders amongst the academia became a
critical factor. Positive perspicacity would sequentially result in a
conducive, productive, effective, and efficient working environment.
Thus, this study aimed to (1) explore the perspicacity on the criteria,
reality, and expectations during rector and vice rector elections
amongst the academia within State University of Malang and (2) to
establish an understanding of dean election in the faculties of State
University of Malang.
