Professional Media Experience

Production Assistant, Oregon Public Broadcasting State of Wonder Summer 2016


Worked closely with hosts April Baer and Aaron Scott on producing quality weekly content for OPBs
weekly arts show, State of Wonder. Duties included writing sharp, stylistic copy for each weeks show
segment article, pitching stories at weekly editorial meetings and reporting on approved stories I pitched.
I also handled booking, conducting background research and coming up with questions for sources in
addition to writing copy for each weeks script. I also did audio editing using Adobe Audition, wrote
web articles for reported audio stories, edited interviews from Think Out Loud to be run on State of
Wonder, conducted follow up interviews on previously interviewed sources, transcribed interviews, shot
and edited photos as well as created slideshows for web and selected show music for each weeks show.

Intern, All Classical Portland KQAC-FM Summer 2015


I worked closely with the stations Chief Operating Officer and Executive Assistant to complete a
variety of projects and daily tasks including writing for the stations blog, answering listener comments
and questions and helping coordinate listener email lists. I also assisted in creating and editing audio
promos for The Score, a nationally syndicated program. Additionally, I managed its website, social
media pages, and updated its station carriage list. I also assisted in audio editing with the stations music
director and managed the stations Nielsen research and statistics data.

Collegiate Media Experience

Associate editor, The Linfield Review May 2016-Present


As second in command of the Review, I assist and advise the Editor-in-Chief in all decisions related to
the production of the online and print publications as well as managing and mentoring section editors
and staff writers. I also report on breaking news, edit stories, take notes and assign stories at editorial
meetings as well as assist in managing the Reviews photographers and social media accounts.

Editor-in-Chief, The Linfield Review May 2015-May 2016


I managed and coached a staff of 25 students and collaborated with section editors to create story ideas
as well as coordinated the final product for the print and online publications. I led weekly meetings,
articulated newsroom vision and values and handled all breaking news for the paper. I also copy edited
all published stories, managed social media accounts as well as handled all of the public relations,
administrative and financial duties related to running the paper.

News editor, The Linfield Review September 2014-May 2015


I handled breaking news, assigned and wrote news stories, prepared the front page of the paper, edited
stories, and prepared layout for the print edition.

Opinion editor, The Linfield Review September 2013-May 2014


I assigned and writing opinions as well as presenting editorial ideas at staff meetings in addition to
writing for other sections. I also prepared and copy edited the opinion page layout for the print edition.

Additional Linfield Experiential Learning and Service

Teaching Assistant, Women Writing War First Year Inquiry Seminar Fall 2016
Co-taught a first year writing class with professor of English Dr. Barbara Kitt Seidman. Duties included
leading class discussions on literary texts the students were reading, meeting with students in the class
one on one to edit and identify ways for them to improve their writing as well as assisting them in
developing their research and close reading skills.

Colloquium Peer Advisor, Fall 2015


I co-taught a group of 16 new students with a faculty member from the English department. Duties
included helping students register for fall courses during the summer and for January and spring courses
in the fall. During the class, I taught students time management and strategic planning for their time in
college as well as facilitated discussions.
