The art of acting

Since i was in the middle school i must say that i had an attraction for the
artistic side. I was very interested into teather, movies and I was analyzing their
way to act, how they feel the moment, the scenes and how were they so good at
creating a paralel reality, meant to show us a different world, or actions and
situations that happened in the past. When i was in the 8th grade, i joined a theatre
team, named De ce ficatul?. As you can probably figure, the name is very
symbolic and his meaning is very good chosen. The liver is the only organ from the
human organism that can regenerate. When i think about that, i remember the
story of Prometheus chained, where the son of gods, Prometheus was chained by
Zeus and his liver was eaten bite by bite by a falcon. To make this short De ce
ficatul? meant for us that theatre, no matter what happenes will remain alive, as
long as there are souls that he may live in.
Due to my passion for theatre, and for the art of acting I decided to enroll on
an especialised highschool, where I could study this domain. So as you can
imagine, the next 4 years of my life, I had the priviledge to study theatre, to learn
and understand Shakespeare and different writers, and most important, Ive learned
to understand myself. From my point of view, the art of acting is one of the best
ways to discover yourself, to live in persons that once existed or created by an
author, to know your limits and what your body and mind is capable of.
Once you decide to study theatre, you first start with studying yourself, your
actions, your behaviour, your way to response to different feellings and situations. I
remember the first year when the teachers made us do weird things like counting
the holes from a wall, or reading poems in front of the class. The point from those
exercises was to show us that we have a pattern that tells us how to react in
different situations, but that there is a way to unfollow this kind of pattern and
respond the way you want. After the first year we were able to do things in public,
to read, to sustain our opinion and to express our knowledge without being
ashamed that someone might laugh, or without blocking ourselves.
Getting into this world only gives you benefits, you focus on your person,
more on what the society wants, you get out of the robotizing people, and you get
into discovering yourself, your potential, and you as a human being.
In the next year, we was acting on William Shakespeare writes, and god It
was so amazing! Although it was very hard, in the same way it was very interesting
and atractive. The more we were studying the characters we had to play, the more
we became one with the character. Just imagine, it is like, after few days of
studying, you were capable to become a completely different person, a created one,
a dead one who once lived, and after that you could be yourself again. I dont know
how that sound for you, the reader, but for me it sounds like a dream that came
true.
In the final year, we focused more on diction, intonation and vocal muscles,
so that we could be heared by the croud, no matter how big the room or the stage
was, due to our developed diafragm muscle. That is the main reason why actors
does not need a microphone or any kind of hidden speakers on the stage. What you
see in theaters is only the fruit of an actors work, no special effects, no hidden
speakers, no microphone and the most important of all, no lies. It is very important
to know that an actor is not lying to us. When you see him transformed in a specific
charater, in that moment he becomes the character itself, he thinks like him, he
acts like him because the character is alive in their mind.
As a conclusion, acting remains one of my passion, no matter of what I will do
in the future. I consider this as my special talent and I also consider that it does not
worth to transform it into a job, but rather into a hobby.
