Assignment Guide 1 – Dating Essay (Due 9 Aug 2010)

Write a 750 word short essay (1000 words for MTS students), that examines the
dating of the book of Acts.

Marking Scheme: This paper will test your ability to read and research a range of
views on the dating of Acts, and to come to your own conclusions on the basis of your
reading.

Marks will be awarded for:

 Breadth of research in relevant commentaries, articles, and introductions

 A succinct and clear presentation of your own views, some acknowledgement

of other views, and demonstrated reasons for why your view is superior to
other proposals.

Some Starter Resources for Reading

The Introductory sections to most of the major commentaries should say something
about the dating of Acts. Please consult your Course Unit Outline for suggested
commentaries. Generally, commentaries you should be looking for are in between
226.6 to 226.7 sections. But check the catalogue!!
