1. After reflecting on your classroom last month, list at least 3 specific examples of items that are
working well.
a. Concert preparation! The band is in a really good place for our concert tomorrow. We had
two weeks of good rehearsal.

b. Rehearsals went well because I think we had fast-paced rehearsals to really make a final
push to tomorrow.

c. Students are self-motivating well. They are receptive when I ask them to give ideas/thoughts
about what we need to address in the songs moving forward.

2. List at least 2 specific challenges and/or concerns.

a. Student behavior has been an issue. They are not trying to be disrespectful, but they have a
hard time staying focused for an extended period of time. Which is necessary for being this
close to the concert date.

b. Finding ways to address problems through multiple ways. I know the way that I would best
learn a concept, but I have a difficult time making sure that I use more than one strategy.

3. According to the Mentor, what should the new teacher's next steps be to correct the 2
challenges/concerns above.
a. Keep rehearsals fast-paced and keep expectations high for the kids

b. Come up with strategies before rehearsal that address different learning styles.

4. List a specific classroom management/behavior management strategy you have used this month that
has positively impacted your teaching and explain why.
I started to give my full list of what I wanted to get done in rehearsals beforehand. Students responded
well to this they knew what to expect and what we were going to do.
