1. Hydrophobic Filter
Motor and Pump Description: The hydrophobic filter should be replaced after one month
1/7 HP, thermally protected, SP, oil-less piston of patient use or when a reduction of the air flow rate is

tered the filter. To replace the hydrophobic filter follow this

It is recommended that the jar and stopper be cleaned after every
SET UP use by one of the following methods:

1. In order to become famillar with this unit, note the position of
the following features: ON/OFF switch, foot switch, vacuum
gauge, control knob, hydrophobic filter, vacuum and inlet
ports on jar stopper/lid, and float (mechanical shut-off ) under
jar stopper/lid.
2. The mechanical shut-off valve under the jar lid will stop suc-
tion if collected fluids reach the shut-off valve level. If this
happens, turn the unit off and empty the collection jar. It is
recommended the jar be emptied when fluid level reaches
2800 cc and after every use.
3. The hydrophobic filter is designed to filter out bacteria, it
is also highly sensitive to liquids. When this filter comes In
contact with liquid the suction flow will stop, if this happens
the filter must be replaced. Do not operate without a hydro-
phobic filter. If the unit is used without a hydrophobic
filter, the manufacturer is not responsible for possible
damage or contamination to the vacuum pump. NOTE:
It is recommended that hydrophobic filter replacements be
kept on hand for ready substitution. it is also recommended
that replacement jar assemblies be kept on hand.
OPERATION
WARNING: PROPER USE OF THIS PRODUCT IS NECESSARY
TO AVOID PHYSICAL HARM. IMPROPER USE CAN CAUSE
PERSONAL INJURY AND/OR TISSUE DAMAGE. THIS PROD-
UCT SHOULD NOT BE USED UNLESS THE OPERATOR HAS
BEEN INSTRUCTED BY A PHYSICIAN OR OTHER QUALIFIED
HEALTH CARE PROFESSIONAL
A. To empty the jar, turn the unit OFF and allow vacuum to
return to zero (0). Remove the tubing from vacuum port on
lid, lift jar out of support bracket, remove lid and empty jar.
B. Vigorously wash jars, stoppers and tubing in detergent and
water solution.
METHOD 1
Soak for 20 minutes in a solution of 2% acetic acid A 2%
Acetic Acid Solution may be made by using 20ccs (4
teaspoons) white vinegar in 1 Liter (1 quart) of cool wa-
ter. A product such as Cidex or equivalent may also be
used, or the above parts can be soaked in an activated
dialdehyde solution. You can also follow manufacturers
directions for recommended procedure.
After soaking is completed remove jar, stopper, and
tubing shake off excess solution, and let air dry on a
piece of paper toweling.
METHOD 2
Place parts in autoclave as follows, ensuring parts are
not touching.
Jar with open end down.
Stopper and stopper with float, float with open end
down.
Autoclave for 3 to 5 minute cycle at 270 degrees F (132
degrees C).
NOTE: Tubing is not autoclavable and should be cleaned
using METHOD 1 above.

MONTAJE
1. Con el fin de famillarizarse con esta unidad, ntese la
posicin de los siguientes componentes: Interruptor ON/
OFF (encendido/apagado), interruptor de pie, escala para
el vaco, manija de control, filtro hidrfobico, vlvula de
admisin en la tapa del jarro, y cierre mecnico debajo de
la tapa del jarro.
2. La vlvula mecnica de cierre debajo de la tapa parar la
succin si los fluos recogidos llegan al nivel de la vlvula
de cierre. Si sto sucede, apague la unidad y vace el jarro
colector. Se recomienda que el jarro sea vaciado cuando el
nivel del fludo liegue a 2800cc y despus de cada uso.
3. El filtro hidrfobico esta diseado para filtrar bacteria, es
tambin muy sensitivo a lquidos. Cuando este filtro entra
en contacto con un lquido, el filtro de succin parar, Si
sto sucede, el filtro tiene que ser cambiado. No se opere la
unidad sin filtro hidrofbico. Si la unidad se hace funsionar
sin filtro hidrofbico, el fabricante no se hace responsable
por posibles daos o contaminacin en la bomba de
vaco. NOTA: Se recomienda que los filtros hidrofbicos
se mantengan a mano para rpida sustitucin. Tambin
se recomienda que los repuestos de ensamblaje del jarro
se mantengan listos y disponsibles.
FUNCIONAMIENTO

DE CUIDADO DE SALUD.
1. Asequrarse que el interruptor ON/OFF est en la posicin
OFF posicin (apagado).
2. Enchufar el cordn elctrico en una toma puesta tierra,
asegurndose que es del mismo voltaje que est indicado
en la placa del fabricante de la unidad.
3. Cerciorarse que la longitud del tubo desde la bottella al filtro
hidrofbico est seca.
4. Ponga el interruptor ON/OFF en posicin ON. interruptor
puede ponerse en ON o en el 0N del (control de pie).
Esto permite operacin de encendido/apagado (on/off) con
un interruptor de pedal, controlado con aire. Para conectar
el interruptor de pedal - inserte la manguera del pedal, en
el conector localizado en la parte de atras de la carcaza.

5. Verificar los grados de vaco apretando el tubo del paciente.
La cantidad de vaco se registrar en la escala para el vaco.
Para incrementar el vaco mover la manija del regulador de
izquierda a derecha. Para reducir el vaco, mover la manija
derecha a izquierda. Poner el vaco al nivel deseado. Su
bomba est lista para usarla en el paciente. Solamente
usar el vaco fijado por el mdico o profesional com-
petente de cuidado de salud. El uso un nivel ms alto
del fijado, puede resultar en una situacin peligrosa de
vida o muerte.
MANTENIMIENTO Y LIMPIEZA
1. Filtro Hidrofbico
El filtro hidrofbico debe ser cambiado despus un mes de uso
en el paciente o cuando Se nota reduccin en la medida del
caudal de fludo del aire. Tiene que ser cambiado en caso de
que
el fludo haya penetrado en el filtro. Para cambiar el filtro
hidrofbico, siga este procedimuento:
A. Apagar la corriente elctrica.
B. Desconectar el filtro hidrofbico del tubo.
C. Conectar el nuevo filtro hidrofbico al tubo con el
punto verde haca la ensambladura. La instalacin
incorrecta afectar el rendimiento y puede daar la
bomba.
D. Encender la corriente elctrica.
E. Ajustal el vaco al nivel deseado.
2. Jarro de Coleccin
Se recomienda que el jarro y la tapa se limpien despus de cada
uso atendiendo al mtodo siguiente:
A. Para vacar (desocupar) el jarro, APAGAR la unidad y dejar
que el vaco vuelva a cero (0). Quite el tubo la admisin
de vaco en la tapa, levantar y sacar jarro de su soporte,
remover la tapa y vacar el jarro.
B. Lavar el jarro, tapa y tubo vigorosamente en detergente y
solucin de agua.
METHOD 1
Empapar por 20 minutos en una solucin del 2% de
cido actico. Se puede hacer una solucin de cido
actico usando 20cc (4 cucharaditas) de vinagre blanco
en un litro (un cuatro de galn) de ague fria. Tambin
se puede usar un producto tal como Cidex o su equiva-
lente, o seguir las instrucciones del fabricante para
procedimientos recomendados.
Despus de que el empapado se haya terminado re-
mueva el jarro, la tapa y sacuda el exceso de solusin
y dejar que se segue al aire libre sobre una toalla de
papel.
METHOD 2
Poner las piezas en autodave, asegurando que no las
estan tocando una al otro.
Frasco boca abajo.
Tapa y tapa con flotador boca abajo.
Esterlizar en autoclave cido de 3 - 5 minutos a 270 F (132
C).
AVISO: Tuberia NO es autoclaveable y debe ser esterlizado
usando
mtodo 1.
C. Para asuntos contagiosos, consulte con un medico o
profesional calificado de la salud.
3. La Bomba de Vaco
La Bomba de Vaco est permanentemente lubricado y no
necesita ni aceite ni engrase.
