Occurrence at Owl Creek Park is the story of Peyton Farquhars death written by Ambrose
Bierce. The narrative takes place in the South during the Civil War. It involves many details that
trick the reader into thinking that Peyton has managed to escape, his death punishment, and make
his way back to his family. An Occurrence at Owl Creek Park short film compares to the
narrative with the theme and they differ with the point of view and the genre.
The narrative and the short film are similar with the theme, they both portray the same
message that the author wanted to originally give with his narrative. Both the narrative and short
film show that Peyton Farquhar is being punished by death, simply because he said something of
messing with the bridge, yet not doing anything to actually damage the bridge. Peytons journey
to get back home to his wife and kids, is displayed and described in both the narrative and short
