The study has come out with some novel findings and I trust it will have practical applicability in
phytoremediation. The following findings can have useful applications.
The existence of inbuilt inherent mechanism in Pteris viltala to cope up with As stress.
The suitability of Pteris viltqlct for As and Cr contaminated field soil and water in the field is
very high
Pilot scale treatment system for As phytoextraction frorn l0L, 200L contaminated water and pot
cultures study with contaminated soil is a good innovation.
There are some minor grammar and syntax errors that needs to be corrected

been put to practical use in India in areas like Kanpur and Vellore.
2. What are the practical difficulties in this technology if we have to implement it in
leather tanning areas of the country?
3. ls it possible to engineer Cr reductase in plants, is there a possibility of developing
transgenic plants that can express specific Cr and As detoxifying enzymes.
4. What is the role of Sulphur metabolism in Cr uptake and transport
