1. INTRODUCCIN
Por otra parte muy pocos estudios se han hecho para poder establecer el riesgo
que supone la exposicin a largo plazo a los compuestos generados durante la
desinfeccin. Se sabe que el MX ejerce efectos txicos en ratas por ingestin
repetida de cantidades por debajo del nivel umbral (nontreshold activity)
(Vaittinen et al., 1995); la administracin repetida de cantidades por debajo de
este nivel produjo en ratas trastornos en el balance electroltico, indujo
diuresis, caus hiperplasia de la mucosa gastrointestinal y afect al
metabolismo de los lpidos.
Cl2 > O3 + Cl2 > NH2Cl > O3 + NH2Cl > O3 > Agua cruda
Se puede concluir, como regla general, que el ozono puede llevar a cabo la
mayor parte de la degradacin de los precursores de compuestos txicos
presentes en el agua, y que el cloro y los compuestos clorados reaccionan con
sustratos del agua produciendo compuestos mutagnicos.
