foliage centered landscapes require little maintenance! This pre-

AUTHOR TALK & BOOK SIGNING AT THE CHAPMAN MUSEUM

featuring Ellen Apperson Brown, author
Tuesday, May 23, 7 pm. Ellen Apperson Brown grew up hearing
colorful stories about Appy, her fathers uncle, and she went
on to become a leading authority on his life and
accomplishments. On Tuesday, May 23 at 7 pm she will share
some of those stories at the Chapman Museum and sign copies
of her new book, John Appersons Lake George. John Apperson
discovered Lake George one summer while attending a boat race,
and thus began his lifelong love affair. He devoted his energy
and resources to saving the land from commercial development,
logging, illegal squatters, and erosion. Appersons strategy was
to promote Lake George for its recreational potential while
recruiting people to help repair the shores of islands. Most of
the images in John Appersons Lake George are from Ellen
Apperson Browns personal collection and the Kelly Adirondack
Research Center, Union College.
Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the museum.
(Cost: $21.99) The program is free and open to the public.
The Chapman Museum is located at 348 Glen Street, Glens Falls,
NY. For more information call (518) 793-2826 or go to
