rest of my proposal the rest will be screen shots.
PROPOSAL
In this proposal I am going to be discussing how and what I am going to be doing when it
comes to creating an album cover and poster for the local band from Manchester. The pixels
are a Manchester based band who has had a reasonably successful career in and around the
local Manchester local music scene for the last five years. They have now been picked up by
and offered a deal by a record company, this is where the opportunity came for me to
create, and design a rage of promotional materials; a logo, A3 poster and CD cover designed
to launch them into a national and possibly international audience and market place. The
Pixels are a mid-20s ages band with 5 members being: 2 guitarists, 1 bassist, a drummer
and a singer. The names included are Ben Barlow, Fil Thorpe-Evans, Dani Washington, Matt
West and Sam Bowden. In this proposal, I will focus on and describe, develops and
establishes what concepts, formats, dimension layouts, content, formats and images I would
agree to be suitable within the album art and poster, which meets the brief/scenario. When
it comes to the creation of the cover and poster this will be recorded in a software diary.
Concept
The pixels are a pop punk band from Manchester who formed in 2012. I want to keep the
theme of pop punk, use bright colours, and use the songs that are featured on the CD to
influence the look of the poster and CD. I am also doing research on some bands and there
album covers for some inspiration that are of the same genre and these can be seen below.
Of course, I want everything that I do to appeal to the demographic and to also fit with the
band and what they stand for and to make sure that it fits the look that they are going for.
Some of the album covers that I have researched do not necessary fit the vibe that I want
the album to give out. However, I can use them as inspiration on what I want the final look
to be for the A3 poster and the CD.
State Champs
The evidence above shows and proves that I understand the requirements of the brief and
that I am able to complete the proposal for the client. I feel as I have met all of the
requirements in this proposal and you are able to see all of my evidence in my personal
workspace of on Weebly.
Revision to plan
Plans
Here is how I prepared to meet the deadline and I also used things like an ILP to help me
stick to the deadline the ILP gave me an idea of what I need to do and around about when I
should be doing it. I also had things such as milestone reviews this was in more detail of
what I have done and what I am planning on doing in the next session. Again a timeline is
less brief as the ILP and just narrows down what needs to be done and when.
I also started to do millstone reviews that I have included the screen shots of below these
indicate what I was taking into consideration of the brief and the timing placed which were
negotiated. All of my millstone reviews were negotiated at the start of the brief.
FORMAT
In written form for my evaluation is the way I mainly did my evaluations as I felt that writing
about them. This is what I talked about in my evaluation discussing what I did and what I
struggled with and how I would do things differently. Therefore, here is my evaluation. It is
all in the format of screen shot.
Podcast
For one of my evaluations I did a podcast where I basically talked about my evaluation
instead of doing it in written form. To below is the evidence of my evaluation and the script/
notes that I went off when talking about my evaluation and based what I was going to talk
about off.
PPT
For unit 32 assignment 2 I did a PowerPoint to show the different animation techniques. In
addition, for me to research them below is a screen shot of my power point
Pitch
Here is the evidence of my pitch that I did in front of the class about my new game. Here is
the pitch that I read out to the class below.
Here is my feedback that I was given on my pitch.
CONSTRAINTS EXPERIENCED
Legal
COPYRIGHT LAWS
Originated from the United Kingdom as a concept of common law. The current act is called
the Copyright, Designs and Patent Act 1988. The rights that are covered within the law are
broadcasting and public performance, adapting, copying, issuing, renting and lending copies
to the public. The law also gives the Creators of literary, musical, sound recordings, artist
work, dramatic, films, broadcasts and typographical arrangement of published editions and
the rights to control the way that their material is used. In some cases, the creator will also
have the right to be identified for their work.
Along with the main copyrights there are also different sub-category for the different types
of work that are done:
I wasnt until 1992 that the rules where extended to cover literary works and include
computer programs.
With all of the laws against things that you cant do it is often hard to understand where the
laws dont apply and to make sure that you arent braking any. Acts that are allowed:
With images there is always an option to used stock photos, this is where the owner
of the images has decided to let the images be freely used by the public, however
you are able to by the asset/ pay for it this does not mean that you have bought the
copyright just the right to use that image.
With software, when you purchase a package it means that you have purchased a
license to use the package legally. The purchased license is usually only for one
computer. However, if you do use the same disc to upload the same software on
another computer then you will still need to buy another license in order to use the
software legally. There are some software packages that can be bought that contain
mulit-user licenses this will apply to a certain number of users that will be able to log
into a network and use the software/ program at any one time. Once this number is
met then no more people will be able to log onto the software until someone else
logs off. Packages like these are especially useful for business and schools. Where a
large number of people may need to accesses the software at one time. It is also
more likely when people see there is multi-user license option they will be more
likely to comply with the law as it is often more expensive to buy single license for
each individual user. It also makes it easier as a copy of the program can be loaded
on to multiple computers in a particular office or school. However, the client must
be made aware of the limitations.
In my project I must apply all of these considerations and also that if any of the above are
breached then they are made fully aware and kept informed.
You are not allowed to use an image; video or sound clip off anyone unless you have
their permission to do so beforehand (this is sometimes needed in writing)
You are not allowed to make a verbal statement about an individual that could be
seen as abusive or harmful to their own reputation. (Slander)
You are not allowed to make a written statement about a single individual that could
be seen as abusive or harmful to their own reputation (Libel)
You are not allowed to use any part of another persons work and pass it off as you
own or the whole thing without there written permission beforehand (Copyright
Laws)
You also have to be careful in how you represent as well as describe the characters
and content in your own work as you must make sure that within your work you are
both unbiased and accurate. This applies to:
Gender (Male & Female)
Race (Black, White & Asian)
Disability (able bodied & otherwise)
Sexuality (Homosexual & Heterosexual)
Class (Working, Middle or Upper)
Nationality (British or otherwise)
Regionalism (North & South)
Age (Old & Young)
All of the above mean that you are not allowed/cannot in anyway suggest, at all that one of
these groups is inferior to another and if you do then production may not be allowed to be
seen/shown as it will be breach of this rule. There are some laws that work alongside these
rules for example The Race Relations Act.
It is essential that when I am designing and planning my project that take into consideration
all of the points that I have put above as well as ensured that all of the acts are complied
with. Most of the points that I have put above are just sensible considerations but I will
check that the client is aware of all of these points and considers them as and when is
necessary.
MANAGEMENT
Time management & working to agreed timescale
Deadline and how I met them. I did this mainly by sticking to my ILP that I already had
everything that I needed to do. And if on that date I fell behind then I would catch up in my
spare time to make sure that I caught up and was up to date again I made sure that my ILP
was up to date and that I stuck with it. Of course, on the day given of the assignment I was
already given the deadline with that and that was the agreed deadline. Below is my ILP as
you can see it shows my beginning date and also my deadline.
Communication skills
This also includes my client meeting that I had to get a more of an understanding of what
the client wanted. This is where I talked to the client and they gave me some general ideas
of what they wanted. I also had my client liaisons

Below is the proof of the client liaison and that the meeting that were planned between the
client and me and set out what was going to happen and when it was going to happen.
After I have finished the project, I do a review of the final product that I have created. With a
bigger project the whole class will normally have a festival where all of the finished products
are shown and rate by our peers work according to the assignment brief. As long as I worked
to the brief I could guarantee that would meet the agreed outcome. They diary is an
example of me doing that as it is showing how I did all of the work.
FEEDBACK
From peers
For my feedback I created and handed out a questionnaires to my peers that they filled out
and then once I got them back I made a sitistucal analysis. Below is an example of one of my
questionnaires that I have created.
And now Im going to include an evaluation of my statistical analysis this basically puts all of
the information that I have gathered
into perspective.
For this I have done the evaluation as it covers everything. As we did a conclusion, self-
assessment on how I think I did in the whole unit. Here below is my evaluation in screenshot
form.
