Eat Bulaga's Kalyeserye: A Road to Forever

Truly a social phenomenon that captured the heart of the nation and some
parts of the world, Kalyeserye continues to provide people the hope of finding true
love that will last forever.

Kalyeserye, as most people know is currently a segment of the longest

running noontime show popularly known as Eat Bulaga!, "Juan For All, All For Juan"
to be specific.

AlDub's tandem in this modern retelling of a classic fairy tale is truly

unstoppable for their overwhelming fans and supporters all over the globe. Director
Poochie Rivera said that this 'AlDub phenomenon' is an accident that has reached
special milestones in the history of show business.

AlDub is known as a portmanteau of the tandem's character names in the

segment. It comes from Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza's portrayal of Yaya DUB
(whose full name is Divina Ursula Bokbokova Smash). Together with the two are
Wally Bayola (acting as Lola Nidora, Duhrizz, Rhianna), Paolo Ballesteros (as Lola
Tidora, Isadora) and Jose Manalo (as Lola Tinidora, Frankie Arenolli).

Many of us anticipate the program every day, waiting for the right time--
tamang panahon as what Lola Nidora kept saying-- and has become a huge follower
of the show. The AlDub craze has reached people all over the world and touched the
heart of Filipinos especially those who are working overseas. It also caught the
attention of some international artists like Bryan White, Dawin, and Barbie Xiu.

Like all fairy tales, this new-aged love story has its own 'once upon a time'. It
all started in what we call an accident, a blessing in disguise kind of accident for the
two.

Nicomaine Dei Capili Mendoza, popularly known as Maine Mendoza/Yaya Dub

was discovered through her funny videos dub smashing Kris Aquino. Her video
garnered a million views overnight and that was how Eat Bulaga discovered her.

Maine wrote in her blog that she was scouted by Eat Bulaga and informed
that she will be a part of the "Juan For All, All For Juan" segment. She accepted it
and instantly appeared at the show the next morning.

It was July 4, 2015 when we first met Maine who portrays a not-so-ordinary
nanny named Divina Ursula Bokbokova Smash, Yaya Dub as we all know. She acts
as the snobbish yaya of Lola Nidora The Explorer.

Every day she performs different kinds of dub smash as a way of conversing
and everything remains calm until July 16 came and the country turned topsy turvy.
Yaya Dub was doing one of her dub smash when Alden Richards appeared in the
split screen causing Yaya Dub's act to be out of character and she was caught being
kilig.

Suddenly, there's magic. Suddenly, there's AlDub.

This pairing seemed to attract the attention of the audience and viewers
making Eat Bulaga's producers to make a couple of the two.
 Episode after episodes passed and the fandom that was Aldub gave the
people something to look forward to. Trials, challenges, and storms came between
the two which only add up to the craze of the people.

It was Lola Nidora who prohibits the relationship of the two. She said there's a
reason for it and it will be revealed on the right time. Alden accepted all the
challenges from Lola Nidora.

Without a doubt, there is true love portrayed in this show. It gave the ladies
hope that chivalry's not dead, that there someone out there destined for them to be
their forever.

Lola Nidora played a big part in this show too. Despite being the one wanting
to separate the two, she provides reasons which are truly acceptable. She always
give words of wisdom directed not only for the two but also for the people who
continuously watched the show. She reminded us all of a real grandmother who only
wants what's best for the family she cares for. Thus, providing us the lessons that
we must learn to be the person with a character.

This must be the reason why the segment, Lola Nidora, Yaya Dub and Alden
received an award in the 1st Catholic Social Media Awards from church-based
organizations Youth Pinoy and Areopagus Communications Inc., on October 11, 2015
for "promoting Filipino Christian values and virtues."

The youth and even the adults grow fond in this show. Surely, Yaya Dub,
Alden and also Lola Nidora have shown quite the part of a good role model to the
society.

Kalyeserye has made a lot of history in a short span of time. With the number
of fans that the AlDub has and the numerous people who never stop talking about
them in different sites of social media, it is now considered a social phenomenon
that greatly shook us all.

Some of us patiently waited for that tamang panahon. We joined the two in
the challenges they faced, their happiness became ours and we see the love
between Alden and Yaya Dub. And just like what Lola Nidora always say,

"Mas maganda ang mga bagay na pinagtitiyagaan at dumarating

sa tamang panahon. Tandaan ninyong lahat, masarap umibig,
masarap ang inspirasyon, huwag lang minamadali. Lahat ng
bagay, nasa tamang panahon!"
People watched every moment there is in Kalyeserye and anticipated every
Saturday episodes. It's just nice to have something to look forward to. We seek for
pleasure and we find it in anything with beauty. Kalyeserye has that beauty. AlDub
has that kind of beauty.

After all the hardships and after having all the patience, finally, Lola Nidora
gave us the tamang panahon. Many of us must have watched this special event for
the two last October 24 at the Philippine Arena in Bulacan.

At last, the right time finally arrived.

As part of Eat Bulaga's 36th year celebration, the right time convened. The
producers of the show organized a benefit concert featuring AlDub's tamang
panahon. But this is no ordinary performance. Sales from tickets will be used in
renovating libraries in three different schools each in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
 It was a beautiful chaos knowing that people who took part in the event are
the people who support the story of the two and are eager to support the library
project.

From this concert, the pairs hash tag #ALDubEBTamangPanahon broke the
world record for the most number of tweets in 24 hours with 39,430,893 breaking
their previous record of 25.6 million tweets that coincided with the National Pabebe
Wave Day on September 26.

This phenomenon made a simple impact to all of us. It made a lot of people
unite despite the national and political issues we have. This made us a little
stronger should I say.

But in every success, there will always be something that will hold you back.
As I have said, this social phenomenon made a lot of people intrigued and curious.
They brought together a number of fans but there are bashers too. There are people
who think that the show is annoying and nonsense. It's just funny that there are
people who don't appreciate simple things like the Kalyeserye.

Yes, Kalyeserye is indeed simple but it has brought joy to every kid, every
teen, every adult and even the old. It has brought joy even to people who are
struggling in their daily lives.

Maybe it is wrong for us to live ideally. Maybe we'll get blind by the reality of
life. Maybe it is too mababaw for some. But what right do you have to judge the
people who believe in what Kalyeserye gave them. Since when did happiness
became unpleasant?

Love it or hate it but never judge it.

This phenomenon shakes each one of us who were touched. It has an impact
that most cannot resist. It serves as an inspiration to artists. It makes us able to
write songs, paint portraits, dance with joy and love truly.

Kalyeserye is an ideal life for us that some wish for but let us all face and
embrace reality. Let us all use Kalyeserye to improve our living, to be better and not
to get stuck with life. From Kalyeserye, we learned the pabebe wave, the pabebe
pinky promise but most importantly, we learned life lessons. We learned to have
patience and to wait for the perfect timing. Through Kalyeserye, we have a slice of
life, we saw respect and love for family. Lastly, we saw a bit of what true love is, of
what true love can and we saw the road that may lead us to forever.
