Pablo Picasso was a spanish expatriate. Pablo was born in Malaga, Spain, in 1881, pablo,

became one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century and the creator of

cubism. He was a spanish expatriate painter, sculpture, printamaker, ceramicist and a stage

designer, he was considered radical in his art work. Pablos father Don Jose Ruiz Blasco, was

also a painter and a art teacher. Pablos dad inspired him. As a child Pablo possesssed a pair of

piercing, watchful black eyes that seemed to mark him destined for greatness. Pablo was a poor

student, he displayed a prodigious talanet for drawling at a young age. His very first word was

Lapiz the word means pencil in english. His father began teaching him how to draw and paint

as a child. When he was 13 years old hsi skill level had surpassed his fathers. Then he started to

not do school work and choose to doole in class, after being asked not to do so. That led pablo to

spending his days in the bare cell whitewashed walls, and only a bench to sit on. He enjoyed this

cell throughout the day because he brought a long white notebook to draw. In 1895, when he was

14, he moved with his family to Barcelona, Spain. He quickly applied to the citys prestigious

school of fine arts. They normally only accepted seniors, but since his test scores were so high

they immidtly granted an a axeption was amitted. He soon started to skip school and roam the

streets. In 189, 16 year old pablo moved to Madrid to attend the Royal Academy of San

Fernando. Pablo became very fusterated wirth the focus on classical subjects. Then he soon

started to skip school and paint on the streets. In 1899, he moved back tp Bakelon. He was
inspired by the crowed of artist and intellectuas. He mad a decisive break and began what would

be a life long process of experimentation and innoration. This painting was sold un the United

States for $104,168,000. This was painted in 1905, when Pablo was only 24, this was painted

during the Rose Period. The oil on canvas painting depicts a parisian boy holding a pipe in his

left hand and wearing a garland or wealth of flowers. Pablo had liked to paint pictures of people

in the town he lived in, but he never spoke of the names of the people. He used the brown to

show how dirty and how awful it was during this time. Pablo spent many hours working on the

angle of the arm and should the boy be sitting or standing. He wanted it to show exact emotions.

This boy he chose to draw about was a model in his teens, the boy liked to hang around pablos

studio and volunteered to pose for this piece of art work. This young boy loved to watch Pablo

work to his fullest; he woudl spend all day at the studio.
