Project OBJECTIVE: In this is project a clay soil sample by using the Cap-
model in ABAQUS program to simulate the consolidated drained test as
using the two dimensional consolidation and shear of the test.
REPORT:
SOIL PROPERTIES:
Bulk Density= 2000 kg/m3
Youngs Modulus= 200,000 KPa
Poissons Ratio = 0.3
Wall 12mm load= 300 Kg/m2
Cohesion= 127
Angle of friction= 42
Cap eccentricity= 0.3
Initial yield surf position= 0
Transition surf rad= 0
Flow stress ratio= 1
Initial void ratio= 0.9
Coefficients for curves of normally consolidation= 0.2
Coefficients for curves of normally rebound= 0.03
Initial Pre consolidation= 40 kPa
1) STEP: First, the soil geometry is created from the Part module. A vertical
Construction line was also created through the origin.
.
2) From the Property module, a material model was created using the input
parameters described through Cap plasticity.
Note:
To Get the Cap Hardening to Enter in ABAQUS we use the equation
given in the project description, and Excel to find the Values in Table
(4-1), increasing the value of Pb from P0 Gradually.
5) step: Within the Property module, a geometry section was created to represent
the
Soil body. Then, a section assignment was created to assign the material
model previously created to the new geometry section.
6) step: Boundary conditions were then established from the Load module
7) step : load is taken. The magnitude of load is taken 68kpa
COMMENTS
In this stress and time graph first soil experience consolidation furthermore it
behaves like elastoplastic and in last its failed . The displacement was 5cm it does
not take any failure when it takes 15cm the failure occurs
10) step : in last result are shown in the form of graphs and tables.
Table
Q VS T GRAPH
Comment: In Q VS T graph in first consolidation occur after that shear failure occurs
Q VS P
Comment : in Qvs p graph first consolidation occurs after that shear failure occurs
the line touch the point at that point failure occurs that line is called critical state
line.
