How light works

Introduction:
Light is the reason that we can see colors and other objects. There are many resources of
light as you can see, but the main ones are from the Sun and light bulbs. Light is a form
of energy. Light travels very fast. It is like sound and heat (travels 1 mile in a second).
But light can travel 186,000 miles/sec.
How does light travel?
Light travels in straight lines through the air and those straight lines are called rays/beam.
When light travels through an object, it can either be reflected, absorbed or refracted.
Light travels in a straight line. We can see things, when a ray of light bounces off a
smooth or shiny object.

What is white light? & What is it made of?

White light is made of all colors in the rainbow, because it contains all different
wavelengths of all the different colors. Those colors are red, orange, yellow, green, blue,
indigo and violet. Red has the shortest wavelength and violet has the longest wavelength.
White light has lots of resources, but mostly from the Sun and from artificial products on
Earth (light bulbs, LED lights). This discovery was discovered by a man named Sir Isaac
Newton. He was a Philosopher, Astronomer, Physicist, Scientist and Mathematician.

How did Newton prove that

white light is made of all
colors in the rainbow?
Newton made a theory about
white light. He used white
light to shine through a prism.
As a result, 7 colors appeared
(rainbow). His second theory
was that light can be emerged. He then added another two prisms. As a result, the rainbow
emerged through all three prisms. This happened because when white light is shined
through the prism, every color in it has a different wavelength and theyre refracted. Light
will enter the prism and is refracted. Every color has a different wavelength so they
appear separate. If you place a green filter in front of one prism, only green will go
through. It is because the other colors have different wavelengths so only green matches
the filter.
