I. Procedure:
The following contents will describe the Procedure to install and test the BiomAPI package:

1) Software Requirements
The following tables will describe the minimum hardware and software requirement for
BiomAPI application:

4 USB Port at least one USB port should be enabled
5 .Net Framework 4.5
6 Browser Internet explorer, Chrome, Firefox & Opera mini
4. If the required .net framework version is not installed, the following screen will
appear otherwise go to next step
a) Click on I have read and accept check box and then click on Install
5. If .net framework is already installed, the following screen will appear. Click on
Cancel button to cancel the installation.
Click on Yes
6. If any compatible higher version is installed, the following screen will appear.
Click on Close button to continue communication service installation.
3) Package Installation
This section will describe you, how to install the BiomAPI Package in your PC
1. Login into the system as administrator.
2. Download the BiomAPI Package to the local system and unzip it.
5. If the BiomAPI is already installed in the local system, the following screen will
appear otherwise proceed to the next step
a. Click OK and proceed for uninstalling the Package.
b. Open the run prompt ( + R), type appwiz.cpl and press enter. The
following Programs and features window will open
8. Please close all running browsers & unplug the fingerprint scanner from the system
and press OK button to proceed the installation otherwise click Cancel button to
cancel the installation.
9. Click on I Agree
10. Click on Install> to continue the installation otherwise click Cancel to cancel the
installation.
11. If any of the following screen appears, Click on Abort, then uninstall the BiomAPI
(check the point 5 for more details), if it is installed and restart the system to start
the installation from step 1.
16. Save all the data and press Yes to reboot the system now otherwise No to ignore the
reboot.
Note:
It is highly recommended to reboot the system after successful installation of BiomAPI.
The following procedure will describe to check whether the scanner is working correctly:
a. Connect the fingerprint scanner to the system
b. Move to the Installation folder. (Default installation folder will be C:\Program
Files\Precision Biometric\BiomAPI in x86 based system and C:\Program Files
(x86)\Precision Biometric\BiomAPI in x64 based system).
c. Locate PrecisionScannerTest.htm
d. Open PrecisionScannerTest.htm with Internet Explorer.
e. At the bottom of the browser window, there will be a pop-up, click Allow blocked
content.
g. Click Yes
h. Provide your Finger as per the instructions mention in the fingerprint GUI.
i. Start using your application.
If your answer is yes. Please do the following steps to fix the issue.
1. Go to Tools->Internet Options, Click Advanced tab and uncheck the Disabling Script
Debugging (Internet explorer) and then press ok to close the wizard.
2. Open the PrecisionTestScanner.htm in internet explorer and do the process as listed
in the Testing the scanner section
3. If the internet explorer give the following error
a. Login into the system as Administrator and close the all the running Internet
Explorer before doing the following steps
b. Go to start->All programs->Accessories->command prompt, if the OS above
Windows XP right click it and select Run as Administrator otherwise just click it
to open
c. Go to the system32 folder location, in case of x86 based system and syswow64,
in case of x64 based system. Type regsvr32 BIOM_API.dll and press enter.
d. Click ok
e. If the command prompt gives any error, please check the below
i. If the following error appears, please check whether you have the
administrator privilege to run the batch file or make sure that gone
through the above steps properly.
ii. If any other error appears, please contact the support team for further
assistance or make a screen shot of the error and drop a mail to the
support team or concern person
4. After success completion of above steps, test the scanner using the
PrecisionTestScanner.htm.
3) Is there no response after clicking the fingerprint capture button in the application URL
in internet explorer?
1. Make sure that fingerprint scanner is working properly in the PrecisionTestScanner.htm
which is present in the Biometric Package installation location.
2. If it is not working, please check the 1 section to fix this issue otherwise go to the next
step
3. Check whether the application URL is added in the trusted sites
a. In Tools->Internet options, Go to security tab and select the Trusted Sites
b. Click the button Sites
c. Check the whether Application URL is added in the trusted sites, if not please go
to the Configuring Internet explorer(sec. 1) to know the step for doing the same.
4. Check whether the Activex Settings are configured properly as listed below:
a. In Tools->Internet options, Go to Security tab and select the Trusted Sites
b. Click the button Custom level
c. Make sure that the following settings are properly configured under Activex
Controls and Plugins
iv. Only allow approved domains to use ActiveX without prompt -Disable
vii. Initialize and script Activex Controls not safe for scripting - Enable
4) If you get the message box as Check whether the service is running or not.
5) If you get the message box as No scanner found, check the scanner connected properly
5. If you are not able to find the device or find the device with exclamatory (!) Or
question (?) mark, Go to the BiomAPI installation folder and install the
appropriate driver.
If you are still facing the problem, contact the Precision Biometric Technical Team or
write us (biometricsupport@precisionit.co.in) about the error or contact the support team
or concern person.
4. Once the ID has been generated, click on the Save to save the id in a file and send
the same to Precision Biometric Support (biometricsupport@precisionit.co.in).
5. Precision will the share the license file.
6. Download the license file to the local system, click on Deploy button and select
the license file
7. Go to Run, type Services.msc and then restart the PrecisionBiometricService.
8. Click on Verify button to verify the license.
