Reading Notes
1. How to Mark a Book
This reading taught about annotating books. It taught both about how to
annotate a book and why we should annotate books.
2. On Dealing With Uncertainty
This reading taught that there will always be ambiguity and we need to
accept that. The reading talked about the different ways people deal with
ambiguity.
3. Ether 12
This reading taught about accepting weaknesses. It taught that the Lord
will turn our weaknesses into strengths.
4. Learning to Love Learning
This reading talked about how learning is an ongoing process. It taught
that learning should be done whether or not we have a teacher.
5. When Nice Aint So Nice
This reading taught that everyone has negative feelings. It taught that
ignoring those negative feelings instead of acknowledging and dealing
with them leads to more problems than just voicing those negative
feelings.
6. The Weightier Matters
This reading talked about how we ignore things of real importance and
instead focus on the trivial. This reading suggested that people spend
more time helping people than just going to ward activities.
7. Moroni 7
This reading taught that everything that good things come from God.
8. Paternity Test
This reading taught that everyone makes mistakes and isnt perfect. It
taught that we should accept that we are not perfect and ask for
forgiveness.
9. Constructively Broken
This reading taught that it is okay to not be perfect. We can be different
and still good and functional.
10.Writing With Style Chapter One
This reading taught about how to think like a good writer and avoid the
pitfalls novice writers often fall into. It taught that writers should be aware
of their audience.
11.Sunshine and Shade
This reading taught that opposites exist for a reason. It also taught that
some conflict is okay as long as it is not done in anger.
12.How to Say Nothing in 500 Words
This reading taught that it is better to say what you believe when you
write. It taught that if you dont your reader will not want to read it
because it doesnt really say anything important.
13.Writing With Style Chapter 2
This reading taught about how to start writing. It taught that it is better to
get the ideas out on paper and then revise.
14.Writing With Style Chapter 3
This reading taught that the opening paragraph is one of the most
important paragraphs because most readers will stop reading if they do
not like the opening. It also taught that the reader judges you by the first
3 sentences.
15.Writing With Style Chapters 6-7
These readings taught that word choice should be partly dictated by your
audience. It also taught that your writing should be descriptive and have
actual meaning and not just clich.
