We can use the simple past to ask questions and give answers about the past:

Did you go?


No, I didn't go.

Did she travel by train?


Yes, she traveled by train.

The simple past

Use

Use the simple past to ask and reply to closed questions:

Use a question word with the simple past to ask for more information:
