First of all we thank ALLAH for giving us strength and skills to complete this report in a
befitting manner. We are thankful to Course Facilitator of Job Analysis and Design, Assist
Professor Capt (R) Zahid Majeed for providing us the opportunity to analyze the job of following
Directors of Bahria University Islamabad: -

INTRODUCTION

We have studied the concepts in our course of Job analysis and design, and after completing the
theory and understanding different methods involve in job analysis, we were presented a
practical task to make job analysis two Directors of Bahira University Islamabad. Job analysis
and design and this practical has further help to clarify our concepts.

Objective of Study
The objective of study is to analyze the jobs of Directors and to carry out job analysis of the
selected positions i.e Director MIS and Director Admissions and find out the gaps by
implementing C-JAM.
Methodology

The methods for data collection were interviews and literature reviews of existing job
descriptions. Number of questionnaires were asked from the Directors. The list of questions
asked from each director is enclosed at Annexes. The sources of information were Directors
themselves along with their subordinates present. We interviewed all two directors of Bahria
University Islamabad and conducted at least four meetings with each to effectively analyze the
knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAOs) required to perform their task, duties and
responsibilities (TDRs) effectively. Moreover, the job analyst (Group Alpha) was provided with
lists of KSAOs and Tasks Statements for rating on various scales. Depending on these Ratings,
Tasks and KSAOs were listed.

JOB DESCRIPTION OF DIRECTOR MIS (MANAGEMENT


INFORMATION SYSTEM)

MIS may refer to Management information systems, an academic discipline within colleges or
schools of business in universities. The MIS Director at Bahria University is responsible for
information systems and must focus on the development, use, and problem solving relating to
these databases and networks. MIS Director also oversees the maintenance and upgrading of
computer networks. He is also responsible for routine maintenance of existing programs and will
track progress on these databases

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Director MIS Reports to: Rector (Through Registrar)

Organization: Bahria University Islamabad Dated: 1 May, 2016

Job Summary:

The director of information systems position plans, directs and manages the IS
Department in order to ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective systems and
efficient computer operations to meet current and future decision making requirements. As a
Director, the incumbent provides company-wide direction in areas of policy and planning for
data processing and related functions

Tasks Duties and Responsibilities:


The MIS Director is required to: -

1. Ensure smooth functioning of computerized database applications Campus Management


System (CMS) and Executive Management System (EMS)
2. Installation, trouble shooting, Enhancement, up-gradation & implementation of
CMS/EMS
3. Requirement gathering, analysis and designing the new modules
4. Develop new systems to respond to the changing needs of the university
5. Develop and maintain integration plan to include transition to new system
6. Manage the transferring of data from campuses to head-office and vice versa
7. Ensure proper implementation of backup and recovery procedures of database
8. Implementation of proper security features to secure the database and ensures controlled
access to software by managing the user accounts
9. Provide accurate and timely information (contained in database) as required for
university management as and when required
10. Ensure deadlines are met and internal reports are produced wihtin university
11. Liasise with the relevant campuses/departments to ensure that the universitys
computerized systems are managed and maintained effectively
12. Advise staff on methods of accessing information and to provide in-house training for
staff in the use of MIS systems and other computerized systems as appropriate
13. Supervise and delegate work to the software developer as appropriate and ensure that
appropriate quality standards are met
14. Manage project to include maintaining project plans and coordination of project team
15. Provide support in the selection and procurement of software programs

Qualification

Essential: Masters in Computer Science, Information Technology, Project Management


or other computer-related degree of minimum 16 years of education and atleast three
years experience of software devlopment and project mangement
Desirable: Software development/ project management experience at university level is
preferred

Required KSAOs
MIS Director of Bahria University Islamabad is a very important Job, who is responsible
for maintaining supporting and reporting of the University. Appended below are the qualification
and skills required for a MIS Director of Bahria University.

Work Environments

While performing the duties of this job, the MIS Director is not exposed to any hazardous
equipment/machinery. The atmosphere of the office was healthy and quite. The MIS staff was
friendly and co-operative. They are working in a helping environment by helping each other and
assisting others to discuss and solve their issues. The environment is calm and encouraging.

Performance Standards
It is expected that MIS Director performs his duties with full responsibility. He is expected to be
extra vigilant to keep the record up to date and correct in all respect. It is expected that he
provides accurate and timely information (contained in database) as required for university
management as and when required. He is anticipated to ensure proper implementation of backup
and recovery procedures of database.
