AISLE LIGHTING
The primary objectlve in most aisle liqhting applications
is to provide good vertical illumlnation on the racks. Test
installatior'rs and computer analysis have both confirmed
that open indLrstrial unlts with concentratinq beam patterns
do the best job. Alsle lighting is similar to lighting a tall
building from a relatively lew leet away. Here narrow beam
units would be used to provide efficient ighting with the
best uniformlty f rom top to bottom. Aisle lightinq is simply
an upside down version of this same problem.
Concentrating industrial units spaced one mounting height
or ess apart more evenly distribute more light on the racks
per dollar spent {or enerqy than other types. Except ln
very wide aisles or at low mounting heiqhts, fluorescent
fixtures and wlde spread aisle ights tend to concentrate
light along the tops of the racks. RACKS
Due to the increased e{fectiveness ol concentratinq unlts,
one or two drops in amp wattage are often possible wl]en
compared with widespread units spaced further apart.
Whether energy savings will of{set the cost for the addl-
tro'ldl ri\tutps rprlui ed whp- u5 rq corLenldl rq u tl\,
will vary with application.
