SPECIFICATION FOR PRESSURE GAUGES RE 60.35.20/60.35.97

GENERAL:

The gauges shall be circular dial industrial type.

Bourdon tube pressure gauges with concentric scale shall be of the safety pattern type
in accordance with BS 1780:1985 and additional requirements specified below.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

The gauges shall be suitable for operation in industrial, humid, saliferous and sulphur
containing atmosphere.

CASE:

The gauges shall be suitable for direct mounting.

The nominal size shall be 100 mm.

The case material including blow-out plate shall be stainless steel. A full blow-out
device shall be fitted to the back of the pressure gauge case, to prevent the pressure
in the gauge from exceeding 0.3 barg (30 KPA) in case of tube rupture. The blow-out
back plate shall be provided with a flexible compensation facility and sealing ring, both
made of a hydrocarbon resistant synthetic rubber.

The window shall be of non-splintering glass.

The housing protection shall be according IEC-529:IP67, as a minimum.

PRESSURE SENSING ELEMENT:

The pressure sensing element construction shall be as detailed below:

Code 3A: The AISI-316 bourdon tube shall be welded to AISI 316 shank and tube
end piece
Both welds shall be full argon-arc welds (tig welding) and shall be made
with the use of AISI consumables.
The bourdon tube shall be placed at least 7 mm inside the shank (see
illustration).
The fitting between shank and tube shall be tight, of a sliding nature. The
filletweld shall at least have a leg-length equal to the wall thickness of the
tube. The fillet-weld shall be smooth and shall have no undercut on
either side.

INSPECTION: SEE FACTORY INSPECTION

Code 4A: As code 3A, however suitable for oxygen.

Code 5A: As code 3A, however tube, shank, tube end piece and weld material to be
Monel. Material shall comply with the requirements of NACE standard
MR-01-75.

CONNECTION:

The gauges shall have a bottom connection as specified.

POINTER MOVEMENT:

The movement shall be of corrosion- and wear-resisting material, e.g. stainless steel
or Monel.

POINTER AND DIAL:

A stainless steel flexible pointer stop on the dial shall be provided.

SAFETY FACTOR:

All pressure containing parts shall be designed with a safety factor 4 to 1.

IDENTIFICATION:

Dials shall be provided with additional identification:

A) manufacturer's name or trade mark

B) manufacturer's serial number
C) for Code 5A: "NACE" in black letters

One wrench flat shall be stamped with the code number of the pressure sensing
element. The tube anchorage shall be marked with the range of the bourdon tube.

FACTORY TESTING:

For NACE standard MR-01-75 requirements, the particular gauge(s) shall be

subjected to a NACE hardness test on the anchorage (not bourdon tube and tube end
piece).

Each gauge shall be factory tested to meet the calibrated range requirements as
stated; calibration certificate shall be provided on purchasers request only.

Note: The manufacturer must be able to demonstrate that the gauges can withstand a
vibration, which is swept over a frequency range of 100 - 500 Hz at 50 m/s2 (5g)
peak acceleration during 500 hrs and 100 m/s2 (10 g) during 200 hrs.

The manufacturer must, at regular intervals, (at least once per year), select random
production sample gauges which must be tested to demonstrate the ability to
withstand such vibrations. This test must be carried out without case liquid filling,
unless the manufacturer specifically states that the gauge can only pass the above
test with a liquid filled case.

FACTORY INSPECTION:

If specified in the purchase order, the purchaser's inspector may witness the following
minimum inspection requirements before dispatch.

- visual examination and dimensional check of the process connection

- verification of testing as mentioned under factory testing
- verification of material certificates (if applicable)
- verification of NACE standard MR-01-75 compliance for bourdon tube and tube end
piece material (if applicable)
- the bourdon tube weld to be checked for acceptance by a dye penetrant inspection
for at least 5% of each purchase order

CERTIFICATION:

In addition to the required "test and inspection documents" the manufacturer shall
supply a certificate stating that the gauge(s) complies in all respects with the MESC
description, the requisition and the purchase order including the test requirements, for
the complete amount of pressure gauges per order.
