Let the height of the tower be h.

Ball A is thrown vertically upwards with speed u. It takes 6 s

to reach the ground.

Ball B is thrown vertically downwards with speed u.

It takes 2 s to reach the ground.

Now for ball A,

-h = ut gt2 [h and g are downwards so negative signs are added]

=> -h = 6u 10 62

=> -h = 6u 180 .(1)

And for ball B,

-h = -ut - gt2 [here u, h and g are all downwards]

=> h = 2u + 10 22

=> h = 2u + 20 (2)

From (1) and (2) we have,

h = 60 m and u = 20 m/s

Now, lets find the distance travelled by A in 3 s.

For that lets first find out the maximum height reached by the ball A using,

v2 = u2 + 2ax

=> 0 = 202 2 10x

=> x = 20 m

Time taken in travelling this 20 m is found using,

v = u + at

=> 0 = 20 10t

=> t = 2 s

Now, remaining 1 s it free falls from top, so distance travelled in this 1 s is,

x2 = 0 + gt2

=> x2 = 10 12

=> x2 = 5 m

So, the distance traveled in 3 s by A is = 20 + 5 = 25 m

We know g = GM/ R2

The acceleration due to gravity is inversely proportional to square of radius.If

radius decrease the acceleration due to gravity increases.In this case though
earth shrinks to half of present size its distance of the point from centre does not
change ie radius remains same. So acceleration due to gravity is 9.8m/s2.
let the certain height be =s
time = 6s
u=0 m/s
s=ut + 1/2at2
s=0(6) + 1/2(9.8)(6)2
s=0+4.9(36)
s=176.4 m
let the distance be = s/9=176.4/9=19.6 m
s=ut + 1/2at2
s/9=(0)t + 1/2(9.8)t2
19.6=0 + 4.9t2
19.6/4.9=t2
4=t2
4=t
2=t
F = P/t (Second
law of motion)
250 = 125/t
t = 125/250 = 0.5s
Mass, m = 150 g =
0.15 kg

Initial velocity, u = 20 m/s

Final velocity, v = 0

Time, t = 0.1 s

Change in momentum is = mv mu = 0 (0.15)(20) = -3 kg m/s

Force = change in momentum/time = -3/0.1 = -30 N

Thus, the magnitude of force experienced by the cricketer is 30 N.

Since both balances the light.

Hence, T1=T1=Mg

So, both scales read M kg.

Here
u = 0 m/s
distance = h = 19.6 m
a = g = 9.8 m/s2
v =?
According to the 3rd equation of motion
v2 = u2 + 2as
=> v2 = 0 2 + 2* 9.8 * 19.6
=> v2 = 384.16
=> v2 = (19.6 )2
=> v = 19.6 m/s

Therefore , its final velocity before touching the ground is 19.6 m/s.

here in this problem, the defective balance must be under the centre of gravity
so that the balance's weight does not contribute in the reading . Again the
balance has arms of equal length .
So the weight of the object is , (w=w1+w2)/2
So the correct option is (1) .

A bullet of mass 0.03 kg moving with a speed of 400 m/s penetrates 12 cm

Mass of the bullet (m) = 0.03 kg

Initial velocity of the bullet (u) = 400 m/s
Final velocity of the bullet (v) = 0 m/s
Distance travelled by the bullet = 12 cm
= 0.12 m

Force (F) = ?

Force is given by,

F = ma ................(1)

v = u + at ................(2)

Putting the given values in eq(2) we get,

0 = 400 + a0.0003

a = - 1.3 106 m/sec2

From eq(1),

F = 0.03 kg 1.3 106 m/sec2

F = 39 103 N = 39000 N
